INTRODUCTION

Most at the slope we will use drain to flow runoff water and weep hole to move out water in

the soils that also known as seepage. This must does to avoid slope failure happen. Nowadays

slope failure still happen because of seepage even weep hole has been used. The objective of

our product is to produce a product that can flow out or move out the water in the soil at the

slope more effectively. So our innovation is VUO Drain. VUO Drain is innovation from weep

hole but it is U-shape and also can be used without retaining wall.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Based on our findings of several products that have been applied n the market, we have found

there are some disadvantages that make the product fail to function properly. The problems

are:

1. Weep hole easy clogged.

Congestion is a major problem identified in some products. Weep holes are easy to trap

soil and water in the soil makes it difficult to get out of the soil.

2. The natural structure of the soil keeps on changing cause the weep hole to fail.

Increase in load due to progress in slope of a weep hole causing the weep hole will not

able to withstand the overload. Because of that, it is easily damaged and not functioning

properly.

3. Water that runs out from weep hole loosens the soil.

When water is present in the soil passes out through the weep holes, water comes out fall

on the ground and this causes soil erosion. This is enhancing factor of slope failure when

the value of reduced soil strength.

4. High technology drainage system installation on hill foot is costly and not suitable for

small area.

Use of high-tech drainage system is ideal for areas with high levels of construction

difficulties and a wide area. This is the best solution compared to using conventional

methods in which this method provides a minimum level of functionality for large-scale

areas.

5. Difficult for frequent inspections and observation to ensure the proper function of

drainage system.

Periodic monitoring to see the weep hole is the most common problems faced of the weep

hole located in the soil. This inconvenience to the responsibility to conduct inspections

and involve high maintenance costs.

BACKGROUND AND APPLICATION OF PRODUCT

Procedure and Application of VUO Drain:

Step 1:

Analyses the slope to get the suitabledegree, length, size and quantity of VUO

Drain that going to be used. Usea spirit level protector to

get the angle all of VUO-Drain is in the

same position angle.

Step 2:

Prepare a sharp steel bar, positionof sharp steel bar should be in a parallelto spirit level to obtain the angle at the slope.

Step 3:

First, insert a sharp steel bar to open the

pore space of the soil structure. The

purpose of this process is tofacilitate VUO-Drain in

the insert on slopes. Method to insert a

sharp steel bar is by use a Hammer.

Step 4:

Insert the depth of sharp steel bars accordingto the desired depth.

Step 5:

Remove the sharp steel bar that has

been embedded.Make sure that generated

space is not left too much time to preventthe produced of cavities are not filled again

by soil.

Step 6:

Determine the angle of VUO Drain by

using a spirit level protector. Makesure VUO-Drain in parallel

to spirit level protector.

Step 7:

Insert VUO-Drain a little by using arubber hammer according to the depth

of each of the parts that have been made.

Step 8:

After completing the process work of

VUO-Drain insert into the slope, make sure

the end of VUO-Drain (section O) is

left by 20cm or 200 mm to make a weephole to drain the water.

processes above, move the spirit levelprotector.

BENEFIT OF PRODUCT

More economical and made by material that easy to find

o VUO drain completely made of PVC pipe where the PVC is a material

that is easily found. Production techniques and simple installation make

this product more economical.

More effective

o Compared to the weep holes are often clogged, drain VUO can solve this

problem in which the water passes through the pores of the soil retained

on the VUO drain than water could drain out into the drain. This makes

this product more effectively.

Light

o PVC is the main material in the production of this drain VUO. It makes

the product lighter than other products. With this minor product, the

installation works do not require many workers.

Long lastingo The use of PVC as main material to make VUO drain is durable, as PVC

will not decay in the soil than other materials.

No need frequently maintenance

o VUO drain does not require frequent maintenance compare than weep

holes are often blocked

COMMERCIALIZATION OF PRODUCT

Normally we saw, weep hole by using just simple and easy PVC pipe

combination to flow the water. Now, only PVC as a main part of the drain are used to

flow the water in soil without any combination of concrete bed around the surface of

slope. We used PVC pipe to make the VUO drain. As we know, generally weep hole

made from concrete. So, that weep hole maybe need a high value in cost and difficult

to build. We use PVC pipe in other to make them light in weight, more durable and

affordable without decreasing the function and quality.

Firstly, we may commercialize our product by conducting a seminar to our client.

In the seminar, we explain all about our product and their benefits to them.

Secondly, we will commercialize our product by create a website for our product. In

the website, we post our product information and some sample pictures to our

visitors. They may ask any questions in there, as they want to know about our

product.

Thirdly, we will prepare and decorate open booth to introduce our product to

people. In the booth, we give them pamphlets and explain the information of our

product based on the sample that we made.

Besides that, we use mass media and electronic to commercialize our product to

people. This is important because nowadays, many people like to watch television,

listening radio and reading a newspaper. With mass media and electronics, we have

more opportunities to introduce our product to people.

MARKETING OF PRODUCT

After we commercialize our product, we have to market our product in other to

gain support from people especially construction companies. If we made it in our

country, so we try to introduce our product to the whole world. Based on our price,

our product is affordable to be owned. As we mentioned before, our product is

cheaper than the ordinary weep hole. So, it will be easy to any construction company

to own them.

Firstly, our target to market our product is private construction company. It is

because, as we know, any private construction company will choose the best price

with the best quality in their material project. So, our product, with the affordable

price and best quality will attract them to try our product in their project.

Besides that, government constructions company are also in our target.

Nowadays, we have to create some innovation that can bring economical budget and

increasing the quality to make sure that our project is safe for a long term.

Furthermore, if our product was success, we will market our product to the world.

Our target is any construction company outside and we will apply this to their project.

CONCLUSION

After our discussion and preparation about VUO Drain we accepted that VUO Drain is

more effectively than weep hole. This because VUO Drain is more cheap and suitable to

use anywhere than weep hole. Its also can be used at slope without retaining wall. VUO

Drain also light and easy to installation, so it no need many of manpower. VUO Drain

also long lasting because its material and its also no need frequently maintenance.
