Based on the organizational chart, explain the responsibilities of every member in
construction and completion of the relevant projects.
Responsibilities of the Managing Director/ Chief Executive
Implement the Boards policies and strategies.
Develop and present the strategic and annual business plans to the Board for approval.
Report to the Board on progress against the strategic and annual business plans on a regular
basis. Typically, reporting against the annual plan will be monthly, while reporting against
the strategic plan will be less frequent, although it should be at least two or three times a year.

Responsibilities Project manager
y Responsibilities of project manager appointed by the firm in general is to provide aproduct or a specific outcome, taking into account the technical specifications, cost and
schedule by using the resources of existing organizations.
y In addition it is responsible for fulfilling the objectives of the project benefits when itstated in the contract with the customer.
y In addition, the project manager will recommend the termination of the project or analternative solution if the project goals and objectives can not be achieved.
Responsibilities Site Supervisor
y In construction projects, other project managers or managing directors of constructioncompanies will take one or two site supervisors for the regulation of their projects.
y The number of supervisors depending on the size or scope of a project.
y Among the main tasks of the site supervisor:
1. Recording, record daily project activities in the site diary.
2. Establishes work handyman or construction worker.
3. Regulate the work on site.
4. Control and check the quality of work.
5. Overseeing the work in terms of method of construction, installation, and packaging.
6. Acceptance of the goods at the site and manage the storage and records, it also will
work with the clerksite.
7. Progress reports to the manager's job. It will record the percent%, the quantity of
work, a measure of sub-con and provide information to project managers.

Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor
y Quantity Surveyors are responsible for ensuring that the project cost not to exceed theallocation (budget) set by the employer. The Quantity Surveyor will be involved with a
project from the beginning to the final account stage.
y Therefore, accurate and objective information about the project is important to ensurethat the costs estimated by the Quantity Surveyors are in the areas of budget set by the
employer. Without an objective and accurate information, the estimated costs to be
incurred by the Quantity Surveyor are probably not as accurate as desired.
y Thus the basic responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor in a developmental process isas follows:
1. Prepare tender documents.
To select the correct contractor qualified for a project the tender will be open to interested
contractors. Among the activities will be performed at this stage is like a list of quantities
based on drawings from the consultant architects and engineers. Accuracy in the preparation
of bills of quantities is essential to avoid such problems in the future when construction
begins. The Quantity Surveyor must state the closing date for tenders is concerned.
The Quantity Surveyor must also issue a tender within the stipulated period to avoid delays.
In addition the Quantity Surveyor should ensure that tender documents are issued is equipped
with all the documents and related forms.
2. Analysis of tender.
After closing, the Quantity Surveyor will make a tender analysis of the project involved. The
purpose of this tender done analysis is to select a contractor who is really qualified to do the
job. Qualified here means to have adequate financial resources have performed well and did
not have a lot of work load.
Upon completion of the tender analysis process, the Quantity Surveyor would recommend the

report to the employer Tender / clients of a contractor who actually considered qualified to
perform the proposed work. However the power to choose the contractor is in the hands of
the employer.
3. Prepare contract documents.
Once an employer makes a decision on the successful contractors in the tender, then the
Quantity Surveyor will prepare the contract documents before the contractors begin work.
Contract documents are an agreement between employers and contractors. At this stage of the
Quantity Surveyor will prepare the contract documents that are complete with all documents,
contract forms, specifications, and others.
4. Checking insurance.
Before starting work the contractor shall take relevant insurance as stated in the Form of
Contract PWD Form whether Equivalent or PAM. Quantity Surveyors are therefore
responsible for ensuring that all insurance has been taken by the contractor shall be valid and
sufficient. If you need the Quantity Surveyor will contact the insurance company concerned
to ensure that it is not a fake police.
Besides, Quantity Surveyors must ensure that an insurance policy taken by the contractor is
the company authorized by the Architect. The Quantity Surveyor must also ensure that the
insurance policy covers the period specified. Quantity Surveyors should ensure that in the
name of an insurance policy is correct. If a mistake is made then the contractor should not
receive compensation from the insurance in case things are not desired.
5. Assessment work.
Among the responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor is to evaluate the work done by the
contractor. The purpose of job evaluation was held to provide payment to the contractor on
the work done. However the work of job evaluation should be performed by the Quantity
Surveyors and is accompanied by the representative of the contractor.
In addition, it also will provide an overview of the progress of the work done by the

contractor during the month involved. Quantity is also responsible for issuing this Interim
Certificate within 14 days after the valuation of work done. This is as stated in the Form of
Contract Equivalents.
6. Calculating the changes work.
If there are changes in work during the construction process, the parties are responsible
Quantity Surveyors to reassess the work involved. By calculating the change of work
involved in the Quantity Surveyor will be able to know the actual cost of the work involved,
be it increased or decreased from the original cost. This is as stated in the Form of Contract
Equivalents.
7. Consider the contractor claims.
If the contractor makes a claim to the Quantity Surveyors as a result of its compliance to the
direction of the Superintendent / Architect as described in the Form of Contract Equivalents,
it is the responsibility ofQuantity Surveyors to ensure that the claim was true. Besides, it can
ensure that the costs incurred by the contractor as a result of the instruction is really here

contractor is incurring losses as a result of compliance with direction of Superintendent /
Architect.
8. Extension of time.
In addition the Quantity Surveyor is responsible for analyzing the reasons given by the
contractor for extension of time as specified in the Contract Form Equivalent. If possible
reasons given by the contractor is reasonable, then the Quantity Surveyor will give the
officers consent to the Superintendent / architect to issue instructions to approve the request
of the contractor for extension of time.

Responsibilities Construction Accounting
y Construction accounting is a vitally necessary form of accounting, especially whenmultiple contracts come into play. The construction field uses many terms not used in
other forms of accounting, such as draw and progress billing.
y Construction accounting may also need to account for vehicles and equipment, whichmay or may not be owned by the company as a fixed asset. Construction accounting
requires invoicing and vendor payment, more or less as to the amount of business done.

Site Supervisor
Those who are interested in the construction field, they can ask for work with contractors,
project consultants, developers and others. Minimum qualification is a certificate of civil
engineering, QS certificate, certificate from the Public Health building; polytechnics, colleges
and private colleges are built and certified.
Role of site supervisor
y The role of the site supervisor is vital for commercial success. So often he is left our onlimb, having to make it up as he goes along, a scapegoat if things go wrong.
y As the site supervisor is vital, it goes without saying that managers should take positivesteps to get him on board at the beginning of the job, involving him in the pre-planning,
discussing the key objectives etc. Having done this, he should be kept involved at every
stage including regular team meetings.
y A well informed site supervisor together with good reliable site records will put theorganization on the front foot if things start to go wrong commercially or contractually.
Authority and Responsibility
The Site Supervisors authorities and responsibilities shall be as specified in procedures and
shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
1. General Administration Ensure that records and documents are filed and managed in accordance with the
company procedures.
Ensure that non conformances are being recorded and take corrective action as necessary.

Ensure that only current drawings and documents are used. All superseded drawings kept
are to be marked as superseded.
Refer all approaches by the media or union representatives to the Project Manager.
2. Project Coordination and Management
Ensure that the program is updated weekly with the Project Manager.
Coordinate and manage all site activities of site staff, sub contractors, trades and suppliers
etc.
Communicate to all site staff, sub contractors, trades and suppliers site activities and
ensure timely response to program requirements.
Participate in On Site Coordination meetings with PM and Sub Contractors, suppliers etc, (in

3. Design
Refer all requests for design changes to the Project Manager or his nominee and obtain the

Purchase materials and equipment for site use as requested by the Project Manager.
Ensure that materials and equipment delivered to site are adequately identified, and safely
handled and stored to prevent loss, damage or injury.
5. Plant and Equipment
Ensure that measuring and testing equipment required for the work area is properly
identified, calibrated, adjusted and labeled.
Ensure that plant and equipment is maintained in a safe condition and is regularly
serviced.

6. Quality / Systems Control
Conduct in-coming, in-process and final inspection and testing for on-site activities in
accordance with Inspection and Test Plans and Checklists, Safe Work Method Statements
and the results are recorded.
Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with current codes, standards, operation &
maintenance manuals, specifications, drawings, etc.
Ensure that all processes are carried out by qualified tradesmen in accordance with
approved procedures; Work Cover and Safe Work Method Statements.
7. Environmental
Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Project
Environmental

Promote environmental awareness to project personnel.
Implement and maintain environmental controls.
Participate in and promote environmental awareness to project personnel.
Assist the Project / Site Environmental Representative to ensure environmental controls

9. Personnel and Safety
Ensure that employees are inducted and are sufficiently trained and experienced to carry
out their work.
Implement Health and Safety on site by complying with relevant OHS&R Legislation,
Regulations, Standards and Codes, Company Procedures and Special Site Requirements
which shall include but are not limited to the following:
Assist the Project Manager in developing the Project Safety Plan for the project andensuring all site-specific issues on that site are managed to achieve Safe Working
Practice.

Carry out hazard identification and risk assessment and put control measures in placeto minimize risks.
Carry out weekly (minimum) safety inspection, which needs to be recorded on the sitesafety form.
Make sure Work Method Statements from subcontractors are received for trades andareas of work identified before work proceeds. Ensure work is carried out as per the
Work Method Statements.
Make sure each person working on site is registered in the site register and carry out asite-specific induction for each person working on site.
Ensure that the Committee has the necessary resources to function effectively. Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents that occur and take action to
prevent re-occurrence.
Ensure Safe Working Practices are adhered by all site personnel at all stages of theproject.
Monitor subcontractors performance and report to the Project Manager. AssistProject
Site Supervisors shall be responsible for ensuring that site safety systems and
procedures contained within the Project (Safety) Plan are implemented and shall:
Conduct periodic inspections to verify that work areas, methods, materials, plant and
equipment comply with policy and general safety requirements.
Ensure that safe unloading areas for delivery vehicles and storage areas are
maintained.
Ensure that adequate stocks of personal protective clothing and equipment.

Conclusion
The conclusion is organization chart is important for the construction firm. Without
organization, order and structure cannot be achieved. If in a system that relies on efficiency in
function and these are not achieved and the system will break down. The importance,
therefore, can be immeasurable to the success of any group attempting to function toward a
single goal.
