    +ince that report, the situation has got worse9 ccording to thelatest 7*M++ survey, Malaysia recorded the worst drop among allcountries etween --- and 20 2 for the two critical su :ects ofMaths and +cience9 ;ur latest reading achievement scores fromP*+ also shows us near the ottom of the international testscores9

    Not only are the gaps etween Malaysia and other countries in

    our region growing, ut these international assessments showthat Malaysian student performance as measured y reading andscience scores has declined in a solute terms etween 200- and20 29 *n plain language, our student standards are getting worse,not etter, even if we do not compare them with theircounterparts from other countries9
