1) (a) Period of oscillation is affected by length.

Method of controlling manipulated variable :

- A pendulum of length 30.0 cm is set up.

Method of measuring responding variable:

- The pendulum bob is displaced slightly and released.

- The time taken for the pendulum to make 10 complete oscillations is measured with a stopwatch. The period is then calculated. The procedure is repeated with pendulum of lengths 40.0 cm, 50.0 cm, 60.0 cm, 70.0 cm and 80.0 cm.
