Paper 1

 Section A (Vocabulary)

-Pupils confuse with the multiple choice answers.

-lack of vocabulary.

•Teacher provides dictionary and pictorial dictionary for the class. And both items are kept in the classroom( on the pupils’ desks)- easy to refer at any time.

•every lesson concentrating on this section, each pupils will write a word and its meaning on a piece of small paper and paste it on the wall in their classroom called “Our Vocabulary Wall” using colourful paper.( to motivate pupils)

•guidance for each pupils.( finding key words )– highlighting them using highlighters.

• exercises on Vocabulary- topical units( word,phrases and sentence level) will be given 2 sets per week.

RCA INTERVENSI

Section C (Grammar)

-pupils could not remember most of the rules in Grammar and the words learnt in antonyms /synonyms/spelling / the rules of punctuations.

.

• give lots of topical /UPSR clone focussing grammar practices and questions at least 20 MCQ per item.

• mind mapping based on pupils’ creativity on all the Grammar items. This mind-mapping activity will help them to remember well and at the same time motivates them to love to learn Grammar.

Section D (Text Completion)

-pupils are lack of vocabulary and weak in grammar that will make them to choose the wrong answers in completing the text.

•-discussion on the questions and answers once after doing the practices/exercises.

• exercises for cloze text 2 sets per week.

•Section E (Reading Comprehension)

•-pupils weak in scanning , skimming skills and leading them to answer wrongly.

• lack of vocabulary.

• Teacher teach/focusing in skimming/ scanning skills for the main points/keywords by looking at the questions and marking the answers found in the text with the number of questions.

• pupils write the new words learnt ,look for the meaning then paste them on “Our Vocabulary Wall”.

• Minimum exercise -Every unit – at least 2 texts –I linear and 1 non linear texts.

RCA INTERVENSI

•Paper 2 (section A)

•Pupils are weak in writing simple sentences and compound sentences and do not apply the rules of SVO (subject+ verb+ object) correctly and appropriately in building sentences.

•Pupils are lack of vocabulary- making the pupils to write sentences without meaning.

•Pupils practice the SVO table (especially the weak pupils),while the good students will be practising writing compound sentences and how to write creatively (adding new words/adjectives) 

•Vocabulary practice by searching as many new words as they can and find the meaning using the dictionary , and memorize them. –pasting the words on Our Vocabulary Wall (a board at the back of their classroom).

•  minimum 1 set per week.

RCA INTERVENSI

Section B

•pupils are careless in their writing in terms of capital/small letters, RM symbols, and they are confuse in what they need to transfer to the table due to their lack of vocabulary.

•the pupils are weak in writing especially in reasoning.

• Once the pupils made mistakes, they need to copy the information transfer table into their exercise book and make correction on the spot- to make them aware and be more careful. (Pupils will try to be extra careful to avoid doing correction.)

•guidance on writing the reasons by giving them sample of answers given by topic/questions. Pupils copy the samples into their writing exercise books.-learning while copying.

•gives pupils at least 1 exercise per week on this section.

RCA INTERVENSI

Section C

•Pupils lack of ideas and vocabulary in their writing. 

• Pupils do not master the basic writing skills – writing introduction, content and closure.

•teacher shows the way how to write and develops ideas-using mind mapping.

•Show pupils the good writing sample- read, learn and copy .

•Reading 1 short story/text a week and copy it into their reading book. ( maximise their writing experiences= learning while copying)

• minimum exercises are 3 sets per fortnight.
