1 Purpose

The purpose of this report is to document the locations and scope of works for the temporary road

diversions for the Flyover Bridge project.

2 Flyover Traffic Management

The Flyover construction project will close down traffic lanes along Jalan Tengku Mizan as part of the

construction works over a period of 2 years duration. During this time, two lanes of traffic (direction

to Kuala Terengganu city) and one lane of traffic (direction to Gong Badak), will be closed for

construction purposes during abutment, piers, launching of beams and deck slab work. As a result,

temporary traffic diversions are required to reduce the traffic congestion thru this intersection until

the flyover construction is completed.

Temporary Road Diversion 1

Diversion from Caltex Petrol Station to Intersection of Jalan Bukit Tumboh and Jalan Tengku

Ampuan Bariah heading to Kuala Terengganu Sultan Mahmud airport - This reduces left turn traffic

at the flyover intersection and will help to relieve congestion during flyover construction along Jalan

Tengku Mizan when only 1 lane is operational.

The purpose of temporary road diversion 2 is to focus alternative road Jalan Tengku Mizan from Kota

Bharu heading Seberang Takir/ Kuala Terengganu Airport.

Diversion starting from junction caltex through Jalan Bukit Tumboh to access Kampung area – This

temporary diversion provides access to Kampung area, the alternative route will end when arriving

at a crossroad Jalan Tengku Ampuan Bariah.

This alternative route will reduce congestion that happened at existing route Jalan Tengku Mizan

from Kota Bharu heading Seberang Takir/ Kuala Terengganu Sultan Mahmud Airport during

construction of flyover.

The temporary road diversions 3 is to focus on alternative road of Jalan Tengku Mizan from Kota

Bharu to make the u-turn through the village roads

The purpose is to reduce the stress to light vehicle road users who want to make a U-turn when it

clashed with a traffic jam caused by the work of flyover. This is due because existing U-turn is far

away from the work area and help road user who want make U-turn save time

Diversion to access Jalan Bukit Tumboh – This temporary diversion is for light vehicles to do U-Turn

before the Flyover construction and also to upgrade Jalan Bukit Tumboh road for after Road C Ramp

construction.

The purpose temporary road diversion 4 is to help vehicle who live around Kampung Bukit Tunggal

via alternative route that are provide to reduce the congestion that will occur at the intersection

Gong Kijang-Jalan Tengku Mizan after vehicle encounter a traffic jam after passing through the

flyover work area from Jalan Tengku Mizan to Kota Bharu.

Diversion from Jalan Tengku Mizan to Jalan Bukit Tumboh - To access Kampung area and divert

traffic off main road and relieve intersection ahead of traffic.

4 Scope of Works

1.1 Provide earth drains/ channels along the temporary road including maintenance during construction period as approved and directed by the S.O.

2. Pavement

2.1 Preparation of formation as specified and as directed by the S.O. for receiving temporary road pavement.

2.2 Crushed rock aggregate 350mm thick as roadbase material complying with grading limits as per Standard Specifications.

2.3 Bituminous Tack Coat (RS-1K)

2.4 Asphaltic concrete wearing course (AC14) 50mm thick including maintenance during construction period.

3. Temporary Road Markings

3.1 Yellow road line paint marking as shown in the Drawings or as directed by the S.O. and as specified including maintenance during the construction period.
