MATLAMAT (GOALS) :

The aim of this subject is to equip the students with the understanding of the principle in analysis of the control engineering and thermodynamics systems.

SINOPSIS (SYNOPSIS) :

Control EngineeringTranslation Mechanical System, Rotation Mechanical System, Liquid Level System, Servo motor System, Inverted Pendulum System, MATLAB/SIMULINK software.Thermodynamics IIAir Conditioning system, Boiler Efficiency, Steam Turbine and Condenser, Internal Combustion Engine Performance Test (Diesel), Two-Stage Air Compressor

HASIL PEMBELAJARAN (LEARNING OUTCOMES) :

At the end of this course, the students would be able to:

(1) display basic skills and knowledge of Control Engineering and Thermodynamics II using various laboratory equipments, (P2, LO2)

(2) analyze observable data obtained from experiments properly (C4, LO2)(3) work effectively in a group through laboratory experiments and presentations (A3, LO3) (A3,LO5)(4) demonstrate comprehension of the general ideas of the subject through written reports that comply with

2.0 KAWALAN/ CONTROL ENGINEERING

2.1 TRANSLATION MECHANICAL SYSTEM

2.1.1 Determine the transfer function of the system derived from the mathematical model and experiment and also determine the performance of the system in term of the stability.

2.2 ROTATION MECHANICAL SYSTEM

2.2.1 Determine the transfer function of the system derived from the mathematical model and experiment and also determine the performance of the system in term of the stability.

2.3 LIQUID LEVEL SYSTEM

2.3.1 Investigate the open loop and closed loop system performance and also determine the response of the system for the P, PI, PD and PID controllers.

3.0 TERMODINAMIK II/ THERMODYNAMICS II

3.1 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

3.1.1 Measurement of the characteristic of the refrigeration properties and also determine the performance of air conditioning system.

3.2 BOILER EFFICIENCY

3.2.1 Calculate the boiler efficiency and thermal efficiency based on BS 845, determine the boiler equivalent evaporation.

3.3 STEAM TURBINE AND CONDENSER

3.3.1 Determine of the performance of the steam turbine which is set to a certain speed with different inlet pressure.

3.4 INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE PERFORMANCE TEST (DIESEL)

3.4.1 Study the performance of an internal combustion engine using a constant speed test and a constant throttling test.

3.5 TWO-STAGE AIR COMPRESSOR

3.5.1 Understanding the polytropic process in a two-stage air compressor, determination of the polytropic efficiency of a compressor.

KEHADIRAN / PERATURAN SEMASA MAKMAL(LABORATORY ATTENDANCES / REGULATIONS)

(1) Pelajar mesti hadir ke makmal tidak kurang dari 80% masa pertemuan yang ditentukan bagi sesuatu mata pelajaran termasuk mata pelajaran Hadir Wajib (HW) dan mata pelajaran Hadir Sahaja (HS).Students must attend lectures not less than 80% of the contact hours for every subject including Compulsory Attendance Subjects (Hadir Wajib – HW) and Attendance Only Subjects (Hadir Sahaja – HS).

(2) Pelajar yang tidak memenuhi perkara (1) di atas tidak dibenarkan menghadiri makmal dan menduduki sebarang bentuk penilaian selanjutnya. Markah sifar (0) akan diberikan kepada pelajar yang gagal memenuhi perkara (1). Manakala untuk mata pelajaran Hadir Wajib (HW), pelajar yang gagal memenuhi perkara (1) akan diberi Hadir Gagal (HG). Students who do not fulfill (1) will not be allowed to attend further laboratory practices and sit for any further assessment. Zero mark (0) will be given to students who fail to comply with (1).While for Compulsory Attendance Subjects (Hadir Wajib – HW), those who fail to comply with (1) will be given Failure Attendance (Hadir Gagal – HG).

(3) Jika tidak hadir , pelajar mesti menggantikan makmal tersebut pada hari atau pada masa yang lain sebelum mereka menghantar laporan makmal tersebut.In case of absent, student must reschedule their laboratory practice on a later date/time before they can submit their report on that particular experiment.

Lampiran A(4) Pelajar wajib menghantar semua laporan makmal dalam masa yang ditetapkan oleh

pensyarah/pengajar yang terlibat. Pelajar yang tidak menghantar setiap laporan makmal atau menghantar sebahagian laporan sahaja, tidak akan dibenarkan menduduki sebarang bentuk penilaian selanjutnya. Pelajar yang tidak mematuhi perkara ini akan digagalkan daripada kursus ini.Student must submit every laboratory reports within the time decided by the designated lecturer/instructor. Student who do not submit all laboratory reports or just submit some of the reports will not be allowed to attend further assessment. Students who do not fulfill this statement will be failed from this course.

(5) Pelajar perlu mengikut dan patuh kepada peraturan berpakaian yang berkuatkuasa dan menjaga disiplin diri masing-masing untuk mengelakkan dari tindakan tatatertib diambil terhadap pelajar.Students must obey all rules and regulations of the university and must discipline themselve in order to avoid any disciplinary actions against them.

(6) Pelajar perlu mematuhi peraturan keselamatan semasa pengajaran dan pembelajaran.Student must obey safety regulations during learning and teaching process.
