Mersing, Mon. - A thirty-five year old father died at the hospital after trying to protect his son from being bitten by a snake in Kampung Mersing Kanan.

S.Suman and his son, Vinod, 11 were resting in their garden in front of their house when something was seen moving in the bushes at 3.45 p.m. yesterday.

Vinod said his father stood up and walked to the bushes, trying to see what was inside the bushes. As his father was about to look into the bushes, suddenly a snake came out of the bushes and bit him. Vinod's father was unable to step back and avoid the attack. The snake's bite made his father unconscious.

The family members took immediate action by bringing S.Suman to the nearest clinic. The doctor at the clinic, however advised them to bring S.Suman to the hospital for further treatment since his condition was getting worse.

The family and the victim finally reached at the hospital. The paramedics wasted no time to save the life of S.Suman. S.Suman was given the necessary treatment in the I.C.U. (Intensive Care Unit). Unfortunately, he died after being treated for half an hour at the hospital.
