grandfather who was a Japanese warrior. I would like to see his great sword if Iever visit Japan.

In your letter, you asked me to tell you about my family and relatives.The best way to do that is to send you a photograph. You can see over a hundredrelatives of mine. Wow! You would say .

Let me start with my grandfather and grandmother. They have twelvechildren. Seven of them are sons. Each of them has ten children of their own. Somost of the people in the photographs are my uncles, aunts and my cousins.Eight of my cousins are married and have several children. Their children look likeme, with round faces, flat noses, big ears and high cheeks.

The photograph was taken at a kenduri (feast) on my grandfather’sninety-fifth birthday.
