Science Module

This module is developed in to help the low achievers upgrade their achievement to a PASS in the UPSR examination. It is hope that the gradual and guided approaches in this module will lead the pupils to score at least 40 / 100 marks or Grade C. Among the causes and problems faced by the low achievers are ; 1. 2. 3. 4. Not able to understand the Science question based on Science Curriculum specification or text books. Not able to completely acquired all the topics taught. Not able to differentiate between the answer and distractors in Section A. Not able to write answers using the correct format in Section B.

It is hoped that all these problems can be identified and rectified so that it can eventually increase the number and percentage of passes in UPSR of the Perak Tengah District.

Module FormatContent of Section A : 1. 2. 3. Mind Maps Comprises of a brief explaination of topics based on curriculum specifiction or text books. Mind power Consists of methods and activities that can help pupils memorise facts and consolidate their understanding. Sets of questions that are based on Year 4 to Year 6 themes with 1,2 and 3 distractors.

Content of Section B : 1. 10 questions SET BANTU guided questions (bilingual) comprises of variables, aims, hypothesis / relationship / conclusion and prediction questions. 35 questions (bilingual) for enrichment and drilling exercises.

1. TEACHERS Give this set of module to all low achievers of Year 6 pupils. Explain and revise the topics based on the mind maps and mind power activities to consolidate knowledge and understanding. Steps in doing the exercises a. b. c. d. d. Do the exercises in Section A with 1 Distractor according to topics of Year 4, 5 and 6. Discuss answers and relate them to the mind maps. Fill the pupils achievement in the assesment instrument. Do the exercises with 2 Distractors and followed by 3 Distractors. Explain about the distractors and guide pupils to answer correctly.

2. PUPILS Listen to and understand the teachers explanation about the mind maps and mind power activities to consolidate knowledge. Steps in doing the exercises a. b. c. d. e. Do the exercises in Section A with 1 Distractor according to topics of Year 4, 5 and 6. Discuss the questions and answers with the teacher. Fill the achievement result in the assessment instrument. Do the exercises with 2 Distractors and followed by 3 Distractors. Try to recognize the distractors and answer the questions.

At the end of this section pupils should be able to : 1. 2. 3. Understand important topics in each theme of Year 4, 5 and 6. Memorise facts and Science knowledge. Recognise distractors so that they can choose the CORRECT answer based on the Science knowledge acquired.

1. TEACHERS Give this set of module to all low achievers of Year 6. Explain the steps in answering Section B questions and how to identify the manipulated variables (MV) and the responding variables (RV). Steps in doing the exercises. a. Get pupils to answer 10 questions from Section B Set Bantu where the manipulated and responding variables have been given. Answer these questions based on the answering techniques discussed earlier. Guide pupils to use the same techniques for the following 35 questions. Discuss the answers and reinforce the pupils answering techniques especially for the Aim, Hypothesis / Relationship / Conclusion, Variables, Trend / Pattern and Prediction questions.

2. PUPILS Remember the format of sentences and answering techniques for Aim, Hypothesis / Relationship / Conclusion, Variables, Trend / Pattern and Prediction questions. Steps in doing the exercises. a. Answer 10 questions from Set Bantu where the manipulated and responding variables have been given. Answer based on the answering techniques discussed earlier. Use the same techniques for the following 35 questions. Discuss the answers with the teacher and try to understand the method in identifying the variables and its importance in answering the questions.

Modul ini bertujuan membantu murid galus meningkatkan pencapaian untuk LULUS dalam UPSR. Ia dibina berdasarkan kaedah ansur maju dan berpandu untuk membimbing calon ke arah mencapai markah lulus sekurang-kurang 40 / 100 atau Gred C. Masalah yang dihadapi kebanyakan murid galus ini ialah : 1. 2. 3. 4. Tidak memahami kehendak soalan Sains berdasarkan Huraian Sukatan Pelajaran serta Buku Teks Tidak menguasai tajuk-tajuk dalam Sains Tidak dapat membezakan jawapan pengganggu atau distraktor dalam Bahagian A Tidak dapat membina jawapan lengkap mengikut format di Bahagian B

Modul ini diharap dapat mengatasi masalah yang telah dikenalpasti dan akhirnya diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kuantiti dan peratus lulus UPSR bagi Daerah Perak Tengah.

Set Soalan mengikut topik Tahun 4 hingga Tahun 6 yang mempunyai jawapan 1,2 dan 3 distraktor Kandungan Bahagian B: 1. 10 soalan (dalam dwibahasa) dengan format jawapan berpandu merangkumi soalan Pembolehubah, Tujuan, hipotesis / hubungan/Kesimpulan dan Ramalan. 2. 35 soalan (dalam dwibahasa) untuk latihan pengukuhan.

Buat latihan Bahagian A Distraktor 1 mengikut topik dan tahun. b. Bincangkan soalan dan jawapan dan kaitkan dengan peta minda. c. Isikan pencapaian murid dalam instrumen penilaian. d. Buat latihan Distraktor 2 dan seterusnya Distraktor 3. e. Beri penerangan tentang jawapan-jawapan yang menjadi pengganggu / distraktor dan jelaskan jawapan betul berdasarkan kefahaman yang telah diberikan sebelum ini.

2. MURIDMendengar dan memahami penerangan guru tentang peta minda dan aktiviti kuasa minda untuk mengukuhkan pengetahuan. Langkah-langkah membuat latihan : a. Buat latihan Bahagian A Distraktor 1 mengikut topik dan tahun. b. Bincangkan soalan dan jawapan dengan guru. c. Gunakan peta minda dan aktiviti kuasa minda untuk rujukan. d. Isikan pencapaian diperolehi dalam instrumen penilaian. e. Buat latihan Distraktor 2 dan seterusnya Distraktor 3. f. Diharap murid dapat membezakan jawapan pengganggu / distraktor dan memahami tentang soalan yang diajukan. Di akhir bahagian ini diharapkan murid dapat : 1. 2. 3. Memahami tajuk-tajuk penting setiap topik mengikut tahun. Mengingati fakta dan isi pengetahuan sains secara menyeluruh. Membezakan jawapan pengganggu / distraktor agar dapat mengeluarkan satu jawapan yang paling TEPAT berdasarkan pemahaman sains yang dipelajari.

Perbanyakan set Modul untuk semua murid galus Tahun 6. Beri penerangan tentang cara dan langkah untuk menjawab soalan Bahagian B iaitu mengenalpasti terlebih dahulu pembolehubah dimanipulasi (MV : Manipulated Variable) dan pembolehubah bergerakbalas (RV : Responding Variable). Langkah-langkah membuat latihan: a. Murid membuat latihan Bahagian B Set Bantu iaitu 10 soalan yang telah dikenalpasti pembolehubah dimanipulasi dan pembolehubah bergerak balas serta format teknik menjawab. b. Bimbing murid untuk menggunakan format sedemikian dalam latihan 35 soalan berikutnya. c. Bincangkan jawapan dan kukuhkan teknik menjawab murid khusus bagi jenis soalan Tujuan, Hipotesis/Hubungan/Kesimpulan, PembolehubahPembolehubah, Pola dan Ramalan.

2. MURIDMengingati format ayat dan teknik menjawab soalan Tujuan, Hipotesis/Hubungan/Kesimpulan, Pembolehubah-Pembolehubah, Pola dan Ramalan Langkah-langkah membuat latihan: a. Murid membuat latihan Bahagian B Set Bantu iaitu 10 soalan yang telah dikenalpasti pembolehubah dimanipulasi dan pembolehubah bergerak balas serta format teknik menjawab. b. Murid dikehendaki menggunakan format sedemikian dalam latihan 35 soalan berikutnya. c. Bincangkan jawapan dan fahamkan kaedah untuk mengenalpasti pembolehubah dan keperluannya dalam menjawab soalan. Di akhir bahagian ini diharapkan murid dapat : 1. Memahami dan menggunakan format untuk menjawab soalan Bahagian B dengan berkesan. 2. Memperolehi jawapan yang betul bagi soalan-soalan jenis pembolehubah untuk menampung keseluruhan markah Bahagian A.

One evening, when Cik Ti crawled out from its shelter to search for food, it started to rain heavily. Cik Ti immediately crawled back to its shelter, a hole near a wooden house. Cik Ti was tired. She also felt hungry. She tried to find some food but there was no food left in the hole. Oh no I will die without food. said Cik Ti frustrated. Cik Ti moved into the kitchen . Arghh I am hungry!. Cik Ti screamed. Wow, cheese. Emmm. Delicious. After she had her food, she was thirsty. She saw a cup of water on the table. Cik Ti drank the water. Tap! Tap! Tap! Without her knowing, Mamat was ready to trap her into a plastic bag. He tighten the bag tightly. Help! Help! I cant breath where is the air. Shouted Cik Ti .. Her voice slowed down . Finally Cik Ti died without air..

Suatu petang ketika Cik Ti merangkak di luar rumahnya untuk mencari makanan, tiba-tiba hujan turun dengan lebatnya. Tiba-tiba Cik Ti menjerit, wow, keju.. emmm sedapnya. Selepas makan Cik Ti terasa dahaga. Dia ternampak secawan air di atas meja tersebut. Cik Ti minum air tersebut dengan gelojohnya. Tap! Tap! Tap! Tanpa disedarinya Mamat telah bersedia untuk menangkap Cik Ti. Cik Ti terperangkap. Mamat memasukkan Cik Ti ke dalam sebuah beg plastik dan mengikat beg itu dengan kuatnya. Tolong! Tolong!
