a. Company History Founded in 1997 and currently headquartered at the heart of Kuala Lumpur city, Pioneer Engineering Sdn Bhd (PESB) is a leading service provider in Malaysian Oil & Gas industry. In its 20 years of experience, PESB has built up a reputation of the highest quality of service and technical support in its areas of expertise. PESB’s culture of nurturing the trust and relationship of our customers has been the catalyst for the good relationships with most of the major oil and gas players in Malaysia.

b. What We Do Some of our notable achievements are the award of Topside Major Maintenance Contracts by ExxonMobil, Newfield and Carigali HESS that covers maintenance for all their offshore facilities in Malaysian waters, a long term contract by Talisman Malaysia Limited in Heat Exchanger Maintenance for all their offshore facilities in northern Peninsula Malaysia, Advance NDT Inspection Contract by Petronas Gas Berhad and many other projects by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

The above achievements which otherwise would have been impossible if not because of our team of experts which comprise of excellent technical and management team members. The people of PESB are the most important asset of our company. Gunalan Gingan – Chief Executive Officer

A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Gunalan started his career as a trainee engineer with Tenaga Nasional Berhad.

From there, he shifted to the fast-paced and exciting world of oil and gas by holding various commercial positions in Petronas for close to 10 years. During his tenure with Petronas, he spent 4 years being posted in Vietnam as the CEO of one of Petronas’ subsidiary companies.

Gunalan was appointed CEO of Pioneer Engineering in December 2010 with the responsibility for driving the operations of Pioneer Engineering forward and developing competencies that will help elevate us into an internationally recognised multi-disciplinary oil and gas service provider. In November 2012, Gunalan was instrumental in securing a first ever tender Contract in Iraq by a local Malaysian oil and gas player.

Mohd Azmi Shukri Mohd Hatta – Head of Projects

Mohd Azmi Shukri holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree from Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

Azmi brings with him a decade worth of experience in the gas turbine refurbishment activities including in-situ machining projects such as steam turbine casing machining, casing drilling, seal fin repair, ST diaphragm machining and more.

He is also responsible for the ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System) certification in Pioneer Engineering, in order to develop Quality Management, process-oriented and proper documentation culture amongst company personnel.

Aaron Ong– Chief Financial Officer

Aaron is a qualified CPA with the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds the designation of CA (Malaysia) with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

He began his career in a professional accountancy practice in 1997 serving for 6 years before moving on to the commercial industry. Since then, he has held key financial positions in various companies which include a public listed company in Singapore and multinational companies which were involved in the hospitality, gaming, manufacturing and financial services industries.

Quality Management System ISO/TS 29001:2010 and ISO 9001:2008

Pioneer Engineering Sdn Bhd has been audited and awarded the certifications of ISO/TS 29001:2010 and ISO 9001:2008 by Det Norske Veritas AS. Understanding and acknowledging the importance of being ISO accredited, PESB’s top level management ensures these standards are met and adhered to by all levels of its staff.

A proper Quality Management System is important to PESB as it:

Documents company policies, objectives, procedures and organization for quality to facilitate the direction, understanding, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the quality management system of PESB.

Defines the responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities on quality of all departments.

Translates quality policies into a set of quality objectives covering all processes within PESB.

Provides management direction to all departments in order for an orderly and systematic workflow process.

Health, Safety & Environment is a part of our business culture. PESB commitment is to provide Save and Healthy working environment and at the same time continuously providing safety training and standard working procedure to enable company to achieve a high standard in Health, Safety and Environment in providing quality service to clients.

With a dedicated and experience in house Safety & Health Officer and full support by the management and entire PESB workforce, we have achieved OHSAS 18001 accreditation in 2012.
