Work Experiences

• Joined Satyam Computer Services Ltd. in 2008 as Junior Executive (IT), specializing in database

• During the first 3 months, intensive internal training was given which covered computer programming (C), Oracle and PL/SQL. Performed well during the period for which logical thinking and programming skills were greatly developed

• After 3 months of internal training, responsibility to develop a database for customer relationship management (CRM) of an Indian banking firm was given. Team size of the project was 6 IT engineers including 1 technical leader (Indian based). Project was delivered within 6 months

• Mahindra bought over Satyam and gave birth to Mahindra Satyam • Tenure period: approx. 13 months • Reason of leaving: retrenchment

Work Experiences

• Joined DiGi Telecommunication in 2009 as Database Admin cum Business Intelligence Consultant

• Database system used was Teradata which is of different structure than Oracle and the schema designs were not properly organized i.e. they did not give direct understanding of the individual, smaller databases. However, within 2 weeks, some of these schema designs were successfully organized

• Responsibility to extract total bonus payout to eligible DiGi subscribers was given within the first month of tenure. While performing this task, a major error to the previously coded program was discovered which caused the total amount of bonus payout extracted from the database became larger than it supposed to. After modification to the program was done, the total amount of bonus extracted was cross-checked with hand calculation, and proved to be tallied

• Joined a team of database migration process which was developed to facilitate the database migration from Teradata to Oracle. During this process, all data transfers which were supposed to be an automated process, had to be monitored manually. Therefore, in addition to the normal working hours, data monitoring hours between 3am to 6am was added to the workload

• Tenure period: 4 months

• Reason of leaving: Wanted to pursue career path of an aerospace/mechanical design engineer

Work Experiences

• Joined UPM in 2009 as Teaching Assistant for department of aerospace engineering • Involved heavily in facilitating design and computer programming activities for undergraduate

students. Design software used was CATIA and the design activities performed usually revolved around 3D modeling and drafting. Computer programming software used was FORTRAN and the programs developed usually revolved around application of numerical methods to solve engineering problems. Total of 3 undergraduate cohorts were trained throughout the tenure and their CATIA and FORTRAN capabilities were developed

• Collaborated with a student of Aeronautical Engineering from Tagore Engineering College, India in designing a blended wing body (BWB) aircraft using CATIA. The design was used as the student’s final year project and received well by the university

• Became a member of panel of editors for Eighth International Conference on Composite Science and Technology (ICCTS8) for which the main role was to sort out only the credible journals out of all the journals submitted, to be inserted into the publication

• Participated in LIMA 2011 as an exhibitor and representative of UPM to promote department of aerospace engineering to the visitors

• Tenure period: 2 years 3 months • Reason of leaving: Wanted to gain field experience working as an aerospace/mechanical design

engineer solving real-life engineering problems

Work Experiences

• Joined Strand Aerospace Malaysia (SAM) in 2012 as Design Engineer • Absorbed into design department after 3 months of internal training covering basics of mechanical

engineering including design and analysis. Size of the department during that time was 5 engineers strong including 1 senior design engineer

• Throughout the tenure, multiple design works, aerospace and mechanical based, were performed for European clients such as AIRBUS, EXERE and SAFRAN. All design works involved 3D modeling and some of them involved 2D drafting with GD&T. Following slides will illustrate some examples of these works

• Self-initiatives were taken to incorporate previous experience of computer programming to improve the design process. Details of these initiatives will be given in the following slides

• Apart from design works, some analysis works were also performed which mainly revolved around failure checks of aero structures. Analysis capability also expanded into Finite Element (FE) analysis using PATRAN/NASTRAN and FEMAP/NX-NASTRAN. FE knowledge is later incorporated into previous design knowledge in order to enhance design optimization activities

• Since aircraft projects in Europe have ceased with the introduction of A350 and B787, design works have also ceased to come into the company due to the heavy dependency to European clients mentioned

• Reason to leave: Seeking to enhance and gather more design experiences and knowledge as an aerospace/mechanical design engineer

Strengths – Design

• Well experienced in 3D modeling (part and assembly) and drafting using CATIA. In addition to these, also experienced in DMU Kinematics (mechanical animation), Structural Meshing and Structural Analysis

Some examples of 3D modeling works performed via CATIA Note: due to P&C, majority of the design works performed cannot be shown

Page 7: Shahadatuliskandar Rosli Portfolio-pps

Strengths – FE analysis

• Trained in using PATRAN/NASTRAN and FEMAP/NX NASTRAN for linear structural analysis

Example of an offshore structural analysis performed in FEMAP/NX NASTRAN Note: due to P&C, majority of the analysis works performed cannot be shown

Page 8: Shahadatuliskandar Rosli Portfolio-pps

Strengths – Excel Programming • One of the self-initiatives as mentioned previously was learning MS

Excel VBA programming. By learning Excel VBA, an excel based progress tracking system was developed to monitor the progress of any design work performed by the company. The system was successfully implemented by the company until ENOVIA was bought and used to substitute it.

An example of Excel program developed; customized excel ribbon, single button to generate 3 graphs almost simultaneously Note: due to P&C, data inside the table cannot be shown, thus the graphs cannot be generated

Page 9: Shahadatuliskandar Rosli Portfolio-pps

Strengths – Design Automation • Another self-initiative was to learn CATVBA and CATSCRIPT which are the

automation language used by the design software (CATIA) to perform repetitive tasks of a design engineer such as producing frame and title block of a drawing paper, part numbering and standardization, and part checking. By utilizing these automation processes, human errors can be minimized and hours taken to produce a drawing can be reduced.

Example: A program developed to control part numbering and standardization Note: due to P&C, subsequent processes cannot be shown

Page 10: Shahadatuliskandar Rosli Portfolio-pps

Strengths – Design Automation

• Once the basic understanding of Excel VBA and CATSCRIPT/CATVBA are successfully grasped, the knowledge is transferred towards design automation process

These entries will be fed into design software and automate the part numbering and standardization as well as design parameters and functions

An example of design automation program developed; Excel VBA is combined with CATSCRIPT/CATVBA to control the behavior of the design software. Implementation of this system successfully reduce human errors and hours spent to set up the working environment Note: due to P&C, subsequent processes cannot be shown
