Bahru Stainless puts 20-roll millstand from SMS Siemaginto operation
The first strip.
The first strip was successfully rolled on the new 20-rollcold-rolling stand at Bahru Stainless SDN BHD in JohorBahru, Malaysia.
In the south of Malaysia, the Asian company BahruStainless SDN BHD, a subsidiary of the Spanish

Acerinox group, has erected a new production facility forcold-rolled specialty strip. Part of this plant is the new20-roll cold-rolling stand of size MB 22B-52" from SMSSiemag, Germany.
The compact and sturdy rolling mill processes austeniticand ferritic strip grades with widths of up to 1,320 mmand entry gages of up to 6.35 mm, and rolls them downto final gages as thin as 0.15 mm. In addition to therolling mill, SMS Siemag also supplied the entry and exitgroups, leveler and crop shear, as well as theSUPAFINE® filter system for efficient filtering of therolling oil.
With the implementation of the first stage ofconstruction for the new production facility in JohorBahru, with an annual capacity of up to 240,000 t, BahruStainless has reached an important milestone. With thenext stage of construction, cold-rolled specialty stripcapacity is intended to be increased to 600,000 t.
