The Layers of an Organization

For our Introduction to Construction Industry project, we were suppose to interview a chosen consultant about their job and how they play a role to make a project successful.

My group mates and I interviewed an architect named Mr Rosli. He is currently holding the Director post in the company called Gabungan Arkitek. The location of the office was in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.

During our interview with Mr. Rosli, we had asked him about his role and an architect in his company. His reply to us was that he needs to design buildings and infrastructure that are beautiful and also well pleasing for the clients. Besides that, he also answered that his role as an architect was not only to design buildings but he also often acts as the mediator between the client and the consultants.

We also asked him what it takes to make a project successful and he answered us: “ The key to a successful project is not just on the deign onf the building but mainly the consultants that you chose to work with”. I came to understand his statement is true because if you pick a consultant that is good at what he/ she does, that part of their job will be done well and this will contribute to a good and successful project.

An architect is not only the designer of the building but he/ she has to overlook the project and ensure that everything is done within the time frame set by the client. The public should be aware of the efforts and dedications of these architect to produce buildings that provides us with shelter, comfort, entertainment, working place and etc.

Reflection

Overall reflection, I feel that being an architect is tough but the journey to being an architect is even tougher. Determination is what it takes to push throough obstacles and working and studying smart makes us unique and good problem solvers.
