    1. LATAR BELAKANG

    Matlamat

    1) Memfokus penyelidikan dan pembangunan dalam teknologi manisan dan makanan supaya menjadi peneraju bidang dalam nic teknologi manisan (konfeksi) dan coklat khususnya dalam memperkasa kepakaran dan teknologi terkini. Menjadi pusat kecemerlangan, rundingan dan latihan dalam bidang manisan di peringkat kebangsaan dan serantau.

    2) Menjadi pusat rujukan industri dan kerajaan dalam bidang teknologi manisan termasuk pakar rujuk dalam hal-hal polisi, formulasi piawai atau garis panduan kualiti, halatuju dan perancangan sumber bahan ingredien makanan dan minuman masa hadapan negara.

    3) Membangun dan memperkasakan tenaga kepakaran yang terlatih dan berwibawa dalam penyelidikan dan pembangunan produk manisan

    4) Menubuhkan loji perintis (pilot plant) yang lengkap untuk produk yang berakreditasi dan berkualiti untuk penyelidikan, latihan dan pengembangan produk di dalam dan luar UKM.
