    Theme : World of Stories

    Topic : The Little Blue Boy

    Teacher : Fardiana bt Mustafa

    Class : 4 Melati

    Subject : English Language

    Time : 9.45 a.m. 10.45 a.m.

    Analyze Learners

    General features:

    Number of pupils - 37. Gender - 15 girls and 22 boys.

    Age - 10 years old.Pupils are of mixed abilities and hardly use English at home.. Most pupils come from low and middle class family.

    Prior knowledge:

    Pupils already know the gist of the story told by the teacher previously.

    Learning Styles:

    Pupils learn better using visual sources (30%)

    Pupils also have better understanding in learning using auditory style. (10%)

    Pupils also learn using verbal linguistic method. (10%)

    Pupils participate actively in learning using kinesthetic method ( 50%)

    State Objectives

    By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

    a. Listen to and read the story after the teacher.

    b. Identify at least 5 characters involved in the story correctly..c. Fill in the blanks with given words correctly.

    d. State whether true or false based on the statement given. .

    Selection of Media, Methods and Materials

    a) Set Induction:

    Media : Audio and visual

    Method : WH- questions

    Materials : Story books, Power Point presentation

    Rationale : The usage of story books can attract the pupils interest towards

    the topic that they are going to learn. Teacher tends to generate pupils previous

    knowledge by asking them about the title of the book, the characters involved etc.

    Teacher also ask a few WH- questions using the Power Point presentation to sustain

    the pupils interest and also to reinforce their knowledge on the story.

    b) Step 1:

    Media : Audio and visual.

    Method : Reading aloud and WH-questions

    Material : Slides of reading text - Power Point Presentation

    Rationale : Pupils show great interest to read aloud the words and text shown

    on slides using Power Point Presentation. These slides which consist of attractive and

    colourful visuals with clear audio are able to engage the pupils throughout the teaching

    and learning process. Interesting effects on the slides also manage to arouse the pupils

    interest to focus and pay more attention to learn, listen attentively to the correct

    pronunciation of the targeted words, phrases and sentences. The slides can be

    prepared by the teacher easily.

    c) Step 2

    Media : Audio and Visual

    Method : Identifying the characters from the pictures

    Material : Worksheet prepared using Microsoft Word

    Rationale : Teacher uses the Microsoft Word to prepare the worksheet. Pupils

    have to discuss with their peers and identify the pictures of every character involved

    based on the text which they have read earlier. They have to drag the pictures using

    the mouse and place them in the boxes in the worksheet correctly.

    Then , they have to type the name of each character correctly . This task is not only

    challenging as the pupils need to spell the words correctly but also quite

    interesting as the pupils need to move and click the mouse to complete the given

    activity.

    d) Step 3:

    Media : Audio and Visual

    Method : Brainstorming.

    Material : Power point slidesFill in the blanks.

    Rationale : Pupils will be able to have better understanding about the story and

    its characters by looking at the slides shown and also by referring to the book

    . Slides presentation which inserts attractive visuals and clear audio are able to attract

    the pupils interest in the learning process.

    e) Step 4:

    Media : Audio and visual

    Method : Writing True or False

    Material : Worksheet using Microsoft Word

    Rationale : Pupils work together in a group of four. They have to identify the

    Statements in a given text and answer them. Then they have to type the answers

    and rewrite them using Microsoft Word.

    By typing the text using Microsoft Word, it provides enjoyment and experience to the

    pupils because they are able to explore more on ICT skills and at the same time

    practice on spelling the words correctly.

    f) Closure:

    Media : Audio and Video

    Method : Singing

    Material : Video of We Are The Same, Yet Different song

    Rationale : As an reinforcement to what the pupils had learnt in an enjoyable

    way and also to enhance moral values in pupils.

    Utilize Media, Materials dan Methods

    Set Induction:

    Audio and visual media shown are capable to arouse students interest and provide a

    starting point of the topic.

    How its been reviewed:

    The teacher should make sure that the use of story books and pictures on the slides are

    attractive and able to capture pupils attention. They should be suitable in term of size of

    viewing and the most important thing, the pictures should be in good condition in terms

    of the audio and visual.

    Environment in the classroom:

    Teacher should make sure that the computer lab or the classroom used is conducive

    enough and the students are comfortable before the lesson starts. Lighting is also

    another important aspect to be considered in the classroom.

    Students previous knowledge:

    Students should be able to recall the facts of the previous topic by looking at the cover of

    the story book and answer questions given by the teacher. Besides, the teaching and

    learning process should be pupils centered and also based on materials prepared by

    the teacher.

    Step 1:

    Teacher shows the slides of the targeted words and then the reading text. Teacher

    reads the words and phrases clearly and with the correct pronunciation while pupils

    repeat them. Then, teacher selects a good pupil to read aloud the text. Other pupils

    listen attentively and then repeat after their friend reading the text with correct

    pronunciation and intonation. Teacher keeps on repeating the targeted words so that the

    pupils will have better understanding. After that, teacher conducts a question and

    answer session orally pertaining to the text to check on pupils comprehension.

    How its been reviewed:

    The teacher should make sure that the LCD is in good condition. The slides shown

    should also have appropriate font size regarding the text and clear visual and audio so

    that the pupils are able to read and understand the text well.

    Environment in the classroom:

    Teacher should make sure that the pupils positions are fine and they are able to see the

    slides clearly Students with small figures are suppose to be seated sit in front in order to

    enable them to see the slides clearly.

    Students previous knowledge:

    Teaching and learning process are based on pupils and materials centered. Teacher

    should make sure that pupils focus towards the presentation shown so they understand

    the text well.

    Step 2:

    Pupils are to work in pairs to discuss and identify the pictures correctly based on the

    text given.

    How its been reviewed:

    Knowing the fact that this is a low achievement class, teacher should make sure that

    the worksheet prepared for the pupils using Microsoft Word are within their reach and

    capabilities. They should be taught on how they can move the cursor and drag it to the

    correct place. Then, they have to type the characters correctly.

    Environment in the classroom:

    The pupils should face the screen and answer the questions in pairs. Teacher should

    also makes sure that the space in the classroom are suitable for the pupils to do their

    assessment.

    Students previous knowledge:

    Pupils have seen the pictures and be familiar with the characters in the story. By reading

    the text, and they also know the flow of the story. This will help them to identify the

    pictures and type the characters correctly.

    Step 3: Teacher plays the Power Point presentation again and pupils look at the slides for

    brainstorming purposes. Pupils could also find the facts in the story book as well.

    Students previous knowledge:

    Pupils have seen the slides presentation regarding the examples and listened to the

    teachers explanation.

    Closure :

    Teacher plays the video of a song entitled We Are The Same Yet Different. Pupils

    sing together the song and teacher states the moral value in the song to the pupils.

    How its been reviewed:

    Teacher makes sure that the video runs smoothly and is in good condition. Pupils are

    also ready to watch it.

    Environment in the classroom : Pupils have sufficient space to stand and sing

    together the song.

    Students previous knowledge: Teacher prepares the videos and the lyrics to assist

    the pupils to sing the song. Pupils are able to recall the keywords of the story learnt.

    Require Learners Participation

    a) Set Induction ( 5 minutes )

    Pupils look at the story book and watch the Power point slides prepared by the

    teacher.

    Pupils look for particulars of the book e.g the title, the writer , the characters

    involved etc.

    Teacher connects the pictures with the lesson that they are going to learn.

    b) Step 1 ( 10 minutes )

    Pupils look at the reading text displayed on power point slides.

    Teacher reads first and the pupils repeat.

    Then, teacher will call for a volunteer to read the story with the correct

    pronunciation and intonation.

    Other pupils listen attentively and read after him / her.

    c) Step 2 ( 10 minutes )

    The pupils are to work in pairs.

    In pairs, they are to identify the pictures to know the characters.

    based on the text which they have read earlier.

    Pupils need to drag the pictures iaccording to the correct characters in the given

    worksheet.

    d) Step 3 ( 15 minutes )

    Pupils watch the power point slides to brainstorm ideas.

    Teacher explains on how to do this activity.

    Pupils read the sentences and fill in the blanks with the correct word.

    Pupils are to do this activity in groups.

    e) Step 4 ( 15 minutes )

    Pupils are still in groups of four.

    Pupils read the statements and identify whether they are true or false..

    Pupils rewrite the true or false answers in computer using Microsoft Word.

    f) Closure ( 5 minutes )

    Pupils watch a video of a song entitled We Are The Same, Yet Different.

    Teacher states the moral values in the song.

    Pupils are able to follow and participate in the activities carried out throughout the

    teaching and learning process successfully.

    Pupils are able to complete all the tasks in the given time frame and achieve the

    objectives.

    Media Effectiveness :

    Pupils are able to read the text with correct pronunciation and intonation.

    Pupils are able to identify the characters based on the pictures given and also able

    to fill in the blanks correctly.

    Pupils are able to state whether true or false statements and rewrite the false

    statements into a true one.

    Teacher planned the lesson well and it was carried out smoothly.
