HOMOPHONES
Homophones are words that are pronounced the same, usually spelled differently, and have different

PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
We use the present continuous tense to talk about:
1. action happening now 2. action in the future
To make continuous verbsadd-ingto the
base verb:
do becomes doing
ask becomes asking
silent 'e'
When theverbends with a silent e, drop
the e and add-ing:
make becomes making
take becomes taking
one-syllable verbs
For short, one-syllable verbs, that end
with consonant + vowel + consonant (CVC), we
must double the last consonantand then
add -ing:
swim becomes swimming
run becomes running
hit becomes hitting
beg becomes beggingw, x and y
For words that endw, x and y, do not double
the last consonant; just add -ing:
enjoy becomes enjoying
study becomes studying
box becomes boxing
row becomes rowing
-ie verbs
For verbsthat end in -ie, change
theieto ybefore adding -ing:
die becomes dying
