1. INTRODUCTION

ICT!asanelectivesub"ectfortheUpper#econdary$evelintheKurikulumBersepaduSekolah Menengah %M! is a move to'ards
producing a technologically capable 'or( force that is abletoparticipatefullyintheglobaleconomyofthe)*stcentury. Thus,
this curriculum offers learners 'ith basic ICT s(ills the opportunity to further develop their interest in specific areas offered in the
syllabus.
Information and Communication Technology is an area of study, 'hich involves various fields specifically communications and
computer systems. ICT is the technology re+uired for information processing, in particular, the use of electronic computers,communication devices and soft'are applications to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and retrieve information from any'here,
anytime. Therefore, the curriculum focuses on both soft'are applications and hard'are (no'ledge in managing diverse forms of
information. iven the dynamic nature of the field of study, the scope of this sub"ect 'ill (eep in pace 'ith rapidly changing
