BEBERAPA TEKNIK PEMISAHAN
Distilasi Kristalisasi Filtrasi Sentrifugasi Ekstraksi Kromatografi Elektroforesis
DISTILASI
• Proses pemisahan secara fisik bukan reaksi kimia• Didasarkan pada perbedaan titik didih/tekanan uap.• Contoh :
Destilasi sederhana (Pemisahan alkohol hasil fermentasi, pemurnian air laut, dll).Distilasi bertingkat ( Pemisahan fraksi-fraksi minyak bumi)Distilasi uap (pemisahan komponen atsiri, dll)
Distillation is a method of separating mixtures based on differences in their volatilities in a boiling liquid mixture .
PERANGKAT ALAT DISTILASI SEDERHANA
distilasi fraksinasi vs distilasi uap
SEJARAH DISTILASI• Bangsa Babilonia & India, FERMENTASI ALKOHOL (150 BC - 350 AD).• Jabir ibn Hayyan, (700-800 AD), Isolasi dan pemurnian senyawa kimia
(ex.
minyak bumi.• Ibnu Siena, Abad ke-11 (Produksi minyak atsiri via distilasi uap).• Awal abad 19, pengembangan teknik modern (pre-heating, fractination
and reflux).• British Patent, 1830 Pengembangan kolom fraksinasi untuk distilasi
wiski/minuman keras.• Ernest Solvay, 1877, US. Paten untuk distilasi ammonia.
Aplikasi teknik distilasi• The application of distillation can roughly be divided in four
groups: laboratory scale, industrial distillation, distillation of herbs for perfumery and medicinals (herbal distillate), and food processing.
KRISTALISASICrystallization is the (natural or artificial) process of formation of solid crystals precipitating from a solution, melt or more rarely deposited directly from a gas. Crystallization is also a chemical solid-liquid separation technique, in which mass transfer of a solute from the liquid solution to a pure solid crystalline phase occurs.
The crystallization process consists of two major events, nucleation and crystal growth. Nucleation is the step where the solute molecules dispersed in the solvent start to gather into clusters, on the nanometer scale, that becomes stable under the current operating conditions. These stable clusters constitute the nuclei. However when the clusters are not stable, they redissolve. Therefore, the clusters need to reach a critical size in order to become stable nuclei. Such critical size is dictated by the operating conditions (temperature, supersaturation, etc.)
APLIKASI KRISTALISASI• The fast expansion of the chemical
industry has required a thorough study of the dynamics of crystallization, and this unit operation is now used in many industrial manufacturing areas: table salt, sugar, sodium sulfate, urea, just to name a few, are produced by crystallization from solutions.
• Crystallizer technology has progressed alongside with the new processes. Once simple tanks in which, through cooling, evaporation or maybe through pH variation a crystal was obtained, nowadays continuous machines ensure a remarkable consistency in the product characteristics.
ULTRAFILTRASI
• Ultrafiltration (UF) is a variety of membrane filtration in which hydrostatic pressure forces a liquid against a semipermeable membrane. Suspended solids and solutes of high molecular weight are retained, while water and low molecular weight solutes pass through the membrane.

Suspended Activated Carbon pretreatment
SENTRIFUGASIA centrifuge is a piece of equipment, generally driven by an electric motor (but some older models are still spun with hand), that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a force perpendicular to the axis. The centrifuge works using the sedimentation principle, where the centripetal acceleration causes heavier particles to move out along the radial direction (the bottom of the tube).
F = mw2r or RCF = (1.118x10-5)(rpm)2(r)
F = intensitas gaya sentrifugal
m = massa efektif partikel
w = kecepatan rotasi dalam rad/det
r = jarak migrasi partikel dari sumbu rotasi
RCF = Relatif Centifugal Force

DASAR-DASAR KROMATOGRAFI
KROMATOGRAFI• Chromatography (from Greek χρώμα:chroma, color
and γραφειν: graphein to write) is the collective term for a set of laboratory techniques for the separation of mixtures.
• Chromatography is a physical method of separation in which the components to be separated are distributed between two phases, one of which is stationary (stationary phase) while the other (the mobile phase) moves in a definite direction.
• Chromatography is also be useful for identification. Each component moves a characteristic distance and can be identified by color or other property.
SEJARAH KROMATOGRAFIMikhail Semyonovich Tswett 1906, A Rusian Botanist who used columns of calcium carbonate for separating plant pigments during the first decade of the 20th century during his research of chlorophyll.
Classification of Chromatography
• Column Chromatography – the stationary phase is held in a narrow tube through which the mobile phase is forced under pressure or by gravity.
• Planar Chromatography – the stationary phase is supported on a flat plate or the interstices of a paper and the mobile phase moves through the stationary phase by capillary action or by gravity.

Tipe kromatogram (a) peak (b) spot

Teori Kecepatan (Rate Theory) HETP = A + B/μ + Cμ dimana μ = kecepatan linier fase gerak• A = suku difusi Eddy yang mencerminkan reka-alur dari isi kolom.
Bila μ besar maka suku B/μ semakin kecil tetapi suku Cμ semakin besar. Pada μ optimum pengaruh ketiga suku setimbang satu sama lainnya dan nilai HETP menjadi minimum.
