19 August (Saturday)

8.00 a.m. Started our journey to the Elephant Orphanage Sanctuary inKuala Gandah, Pahang. The sanctuary is a shelter for orphanedelephants.

10.00 a.m. Reached Kuala Gandah.

10.20 a.m. Listened to talk by park attendant, Encik Abdullah. Found outthat all activities are free of charge.

12.30 p.m. Lunch was delicious. Cleaned our plates in minutes. Went tothe elephant sanctuary. Met a six-month-old male elephant,Syawal, and his one-year-old companion, Seri. Fed Syawal a bigbottle of milk.

3.00 p.m. Rode on a gentle and tame elephant with my friend. Held on asthe giant walked into the cool and refreshing Teris River. Afterthat we rested in one of the huts by the river.

5.00 p.m. Donated some money to the sanctuary for the elephants.Journey home. It was the most treasured experiences in my life.
