    1. Tujuan Mata Kuliah

    Pada akhir semester mahasiswa dapat:

    a. mengerti ceramah kuliah berbahasa Inggris dan dapat membuat catatan-

    catatan yang diperlukan sehingga dapat menceriterakan kembali isi dari

    ceramah kuliah tersebut.

    b. menggunakan dua keterampilan berbahasa yaitu listening (mendengar)

    dan speaking (berbicara) untuk berkomunikasi secara lisan.c. menggunakan ungkapan-ungkapan tertentu untuk menyampaikan

    maksud tertentu.

    d. menemukan informasi tertentu dalam percakapan/ceramah kuliah.

    e. berdiskusi mengenai topik-topik tertentu dan berbicara sesuai dengan tata

    bahasa yang telah diajarkan.

    2. Deskripsi Mata Kuliah

    Materi perkuliahan Listening 2 ini meliputi: (1) Pre-Coursework Evaluation, berisiceramah kuliah: the process of lecture comprehension, dan latihan-latihan untuk

    membantu dosen mengevaluasi tingkat kemampuan mahasiswa sebagai langkahawal perkuliahan; (2) Looking at Lecture Transcripts, berisi transkrip ceramah kuliahdan latihan-latihan yang dirancang untuk membantu mahasiswa untuk lebihmemahami gaya penyampaian ceramah (lecture discourse style), seperti banyaknyaparaphrase dan ucapan yang berlebihan (redundancy), penggunaan tanda/indikasi(cues) untuk mengenalkan topik baru, mengarahkan ke hal tertentu, dan mengakhiriceramah; (3) Note-Taking Basics, berisi petunjuk, informasi dan latihan-latihantentang note-taking basics; (4) Noting Numbers and Statistics, berisi ceramah kuliahdan latihan-latihan tentang pencatatan angka, tahun dan statistik; (5) Listening forOrganization in Lectures, berisi pengenalan terhadap berbagai strategi pengaturanmateri ceramah kuliah; (6) Lecture Comprehension and Note-Taking Practice, yangberisi 12 materi ceramah kuliah untuk mempraktekkan ketrampilan yang dipelajaripada no 1 s/d 5 di atas; (7) Post-Course Evaluation, berisi 2 ceramah kuliah yangdigunakan untuk evaluasi terakhir.

    Pertemuan 1:

    Membahas pokok bahasan The process of lecture comprehension (Lecture1)

    meliputi:

    1. Lecture focuses on the differences between listening to lectures and

    listening in everyday situation. (halaman 2)

    2. Lecture focuses on tasks for students need to do while listening tolectures. (halaman 3)

    Pertemuan 2:

    Membahas pokok Bahasan Looking at Lecture Transcripts (Unit 2) meliputi:1. Comparing the language of lecturing to the language of writing.

    2. Recognizing: cues to topic introductions, cues to organization, and cues to

    topic conclusions.

    3. Recognizing paraphrase, repetition, exemplification, and tangential

    information.

    4. Summarizing key differences between the language of lecturing and the

    language of writing.

    5. Getting the Main Ideas Using Context and Prediction.

    6. Predicting Content and Lecture Direction
