ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taming Sari first big school event - Annual Sports Day

was held at the Sultan Mizan Football Stadium at Gong Badak on the 6th March 2010 at

8.00a.m. Every year my school celebrates the Sports Day in the month of March. There

is a big playground where the event takesplace. The preparations are made much in

advance. A day earlier the tent is put up. Chairs are arranged in rows along the

boundary wall of the ground so that the invited parents and non-participating students

can sit and watch the happenings. The most important person present in the school on

this day is the chief guest who is invited to preside over the function. . The Chief Guest

unfurled the flag. He gave a short encouraging speech and declared the sports meetopen. The function began with the march past of all the participating students in their

smart white dresses. After That,heavy rain delayed the official opening the Sports meet

but at 8.45 a.m. Then the race began. Our sports teacher blew the whistle for the race

to began and another teacher noted the time with the help of a stop watch. A

photographern took the photos.

There were 100 metres, 200 metres and half a mile races. I took part in 200 metrs race

and won a second place. The most intresting race of 50 metres was specially held for

the tiny-tots of the school. Everyone enjoyed the scene and cheered the little ones.

Funny events like potato race, lemon race, three legged race and sack were a lot of fun.

After this there were the high jump and long jump events. My friend beat all others in

high jump. Another exciting event was the tug of war between the students and the

teachers. Everyone eagerly watched this new event as students continued to pull hard

to win. At the end the Chief Guest disturbuted the prizes to the winners. My friend was

declared the best athlete of the year. She won six prizes. The chief guest praised al the

athletes and congratulated the winners.

. The girls spirits were not dampened inspite of the wet, soggy ground conditions and

spectators cheered loudly at the glorious and colourful march past which was led by the

flag-bearers of police cadet corp.

Y usup, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Dr Indrani Manual, former Sekolah

Menengah Kebangsaan Losong Headmistress, Mrs Alice George, invited guests and

many parents witnessed the great effort put up by our wonderful girls, teachers and

staff towards this 70th Sports meet.

Among the more popular events were the Inter-House Cheerleading Competition,

the Placard/Marching Items and the teacher/PTA telematch competition. We were very

pleased that this years inter-housecheerleading competition was of a very high standard

with Xavier House winning lst place and Adele House finishing a close second.

For the lastly,the special event was started,the event is run of mascot. Every mascot for

every team was run for 100 m. Example of mascot take apart is spongebob

,doraemon,and bent 10.The event was very hapilly and the winner is spongebob from

yellow team.n than for the closing ceremony at 12.30 pm.The closing was inviteMs Roslinda Samsu(SEA Games and National womens pole vault gold medallist, 2005)

officially closed our Sports Day program. Special thanks to Mr Zaiful Zainal Abidin from

UMT who graciously gave away some of the prizes. Pauline House won the Marchpast

and Adele House was the Best Placard/Banner bearer. The overall champion House

was Pauline with 1505 points.

Everything went on very smoothly despite the initial hitches and we ended this

significant school function on a happy note.I hope the event must held at the next year

for the development the academic and cocoriculum programe.

OUTLINE

INTRODUCTION:

- Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taming Sari big school event - Annual Sports

ACTIVITIES

- Unfortunately, heavy rain delayed the event. The race supposed to start at9.00a.m but because of the rain it was extend to 9.30 a.m. After the rain stop, theevent was start again.

- There were 100 metres, 200 metres, half a mile races and many more.

- The most interesting race is 100 meters that was specially held for the tiny-tots of

the school. Everyone enjoyed the scene and cheered the little ones.

- There are also side events like potato race, lemon race, three legged race and

sack were a lot of fun.

students participating in this tournament. Another exciting event was the tug of

war between the students and the teachers. Everyone eagerly watched this new
