INTERVIEW WITH. MRS. WtARTHA ?ROi?PER. PARTRIDGE

On February 8, 1954 Speciai Agents EDv{AP.D G. BURKE and the writer interviewed Mrs. MARTHA ::?RO?PER "PARTRIDGE at 5 Audubon Place, Fair Lawn, New Jersey. She ackriowledged that she is the wife of HUGH PARTRIDGE and the sister of RUTH ~ROPPER LAVA, who was married to Doctor vnrciD.'iTTI LAVA of the Philippines, now deceasedc. Mrs. PARTRIDGE stated that she has not seen her sister~ RUTH PROP~ER LAVA, for approximately twenty yearso She s~id that RUT~ met Doctor VINCID~TI LAVA during a visit to the Philippines and although her fa~ily objected , married him a short time later in East Jlforiches, Long Island, in the early 1920's.

Mrs. 'PARTRiDGE said that whenever either of these men were at her home for dinner she noted that in normal after4nner talk they seemed to cleverly avoid discussing certain subjects~ She could not recall anything specific, but it was so noticeable that she considered it clear that they did not wish to be frank on the St?-bj.ect of politics. Director " Federal Bureau of Investigation Washington, D. c. Dear Mr . Hoover: / I I Stand_s_

Two years ago I spent a month in the Philippi~ out in the provinces visiting with lawyers and judges.

One day I discussed the Communist Politburo in the Philippines with the judge who tried that case. He later had prepared and sent to me a transcript of the testimony in English and a copy of his decision. I have had them here in the office since.

l It occurred to me that possibly your office would

like to have this transcript to study for comp~rative Communist methods.

I shall be happy to send it to you if you wish, requesting only that you send me a Government frank to use so that I will not be out the personal transportation ex- ) pense. ~
