Objektif Pembelajaran: (a)Explain magnetic field as a field of force produced by
current-carrying conductors or by permanent magnets;
Hasil Pembelajaran: In this lesson, students
· understand the concept of magnetic field
· learn the formula for the force on a charge moving in a magnetic field
· use the equation F = qvB sin to define the magnetic field strength Bθ
· study the motion of a charged particle in a uniform magnetic field
· understand the working principles of a mass spectrometer
Set Induksi The introduction shows the magnetic field around a bar magnet, and
the direction of a magnetic field as the direction shown by a compass.
The magnetic field around the Earth is then shown.
Aktiviti · Concept of a magnetic field and schematic representation of a
magnetic field.
· Force on a moving charge in a magnetic field is given by
F = q v B sin θ
· Definition of magnetic flux density in terms of the force on a moving
charge.
· Study of the motion of a charge in a magnetic field.
· Use of the principle of the force on a moving charge in a magnetic
field.

Hasil Pembelajaran: understand sources of magnetic field due to current in
(i) a straight wire, the magnetic flux density at a point from the wire,
(ii) a circular loop, the magnetic flux density at the centre of the loop,
(iii) a long solenoid, the magnetic flux density inside the solenoid
Set Induksi Teacher shows video clip of a maglev train moving at a very high speed.
Teacher asks students to explain how the maglev train is able to move at
such a high speed.
Aktiviti Sources of magnetic field due to current.
· Students visualize and understand the magnetic field due to current in a
straight wire, a circular loop and a solenoid.
· Students learn about the magnetic flux density, B around a straight
wire,
