Surah al-Qamar (The Moon)

�� ح�يم الر� ح�من� الر� الله� � م ��س ب

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful


�ق"م"ر! ال ق� و"انش" اع"ة! الس� "ت� ب "ر" اق�ت

[54:1] The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder.


ر. �ح س� !وا "ق!ول و"ي !ع�ر�ض!وا ي "ة5 آي و�ا "ر" ي �ن و"إ"م�ر9 ت � م:س

[54:2] And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic.


م�ر> " أ !ل: و"ك �"ه�و"اءه!م أ "ع!وا �ب و"ات !وا "ذ�ب و"ك

"ق�ر9 ت � م:س

[54:3] And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term.


ف�يه� م"ا "اء "نب �األ مGن" ج"اءه!م �"ق"د و"لد"ج"ر. � م!ز

[54:4] And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention--


:ذ!ر! الن !غ�ن� ت ف"م"ا �غ"ة. "ال ب �م"ة. ح�ك

[54:5] Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail;


ء> �ي ش" �ل"ى إ الد�اع� "د�ع! ي "و�م" ي ��ه!م ع"ن "و"ل� ف"ت!ر> :ك ن

[54:6] So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task,


م�ن" ج!ون" "خ�ر! ي �ه!م �ص"ار! "ب أ ع5ا خ!ش�ر. "ش� م:نت اد. ج"ر" ��ه!م ن

" "أ ك "ج�د"اث� � األ

[54:7] Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts,


ون" "اف�ر! �ك ال "ق!ول! ي الد�اع� �ل"ى إ م:ه�ط�ع�ين"ر. ع"س� "و�م. ي ه"ذ"ا

[54:8] Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day.


"ا �د"ن ع"ب !وا "ذ�ب ف"ك !وح> ن ق"و�م! �"ه!م �ل ق"ب �"ت "ذ�ب كر" د!ج� �و"از !ون. ن �م"ج !وا و"ق"ال

[54:9] Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad,

and he was driven away.


�"ص�ر ف"انت م"غ�ل!وب. Gي "ن أ �ه! ب ر" ف"د"ع"ا

[54:10] Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help.


�ه"م�ر> م:ن �م"اء ب م"اء الس� �و"اب" ب" أ "ا ن �"ح ف"ف"ت

[54:11] So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring


�م"اء ال "ق"ى �ت ف"ال 5ا !ون ع!ي ر�ض"" �األ "ا ن �و"ف"ج�ر

ق!د�ر" �ق"د م�ر>" أ ع"ل"ى

[54:12] And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together

according to a measure already ordained.


ر> و"د!س! �و"اح> ل" أ ذ"ات� ع"ل"ى "اه! �ن و"ح"م"ل

[54:13] And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails


!ف�ر" ك "ان" ك Gم"ن ل اء ج"ز" "ا �ن !ن ع�ي" �أ ب "ج�ر�ي ت

[54:14] Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied.


�ر> م:د�ك م�ن �ف"ه"ل "ة5 آي "اه"ا �ن ك �ر" ت "ق"د و"ل

[54:15] And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who will mind?


!ذ!ر� و"ن �ي ع"ذ"اب "ان" ك �ف" "ي ف"ك

[54:16] How (great) was then My punishment and My warning!


م�ن �ف"ه"ل �ر� �لذGك ل آن" ��ق!ر ال "ا ن �ر "س� ي �"ق"د و"ل�ر> م:د�ك

[54:17] And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who

will mind?


!ذ!ر� و"ن �ي ع"ذ"اب "ان" ك �ف" "ي ف"ك ع"اد. �"ت "ذ�ب ك

[54:18] Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning!


ف�ي ا ص"ر5 �ص"ر ر�يح5ا ��ه�م "ي ع"ل "ا �ن ل س" �ر" أ �ا �ن إ

iم�ر" ت �م:س "ح�س> ن � "و�م ي

[54:19] Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck


م:نق"ع�ر> "خ�ل> ن "ع�ج"از! أ ��ه!م ن" "أ ك �اس" الن "نز�ع! ت

[54:20] Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up.

:ذ!ر� �الن ب "م!ود! ث �"ت "ذ�ب ك

[54:23] Thamud rejected the warning.


�ذ5ا إ �ا �ن إ �ع!ه! �ب �ت ن و"اح�د5ا �ا مGن ا ر5 "ش" "ب أ !وا ف"ق"الع!ر> و"س! ل> ض"ال" �ف�ي ل

[54:24] So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress:


ه!و" �"ل ب "ا �ن �ن "ي ب م�ن �ه� "ي ع"ل �ر! الذGك �ق�ي" !ل "أ أر. "ش� أ "ذ�اب. ك

[54:25] Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar!


ر! "ش� �األ "ذ�اب! �ك ال م�ن� غ"د5ا "م!ون" "ع�ل ي س"

[54:26] Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one.


��ه!م "ق�ب ت �ف"ار ��ه!م ل "ة5 �ن ف�ت �اق"ة� الن !و ل س� �م!ر �ا �ن إ��ر و"اص�ط"ب

[54:27] Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have

patience.


!ل: ك �"ه!م �ن "ي ب م"ة. �ق�س �م"اء ال "ن� أ ��ه!م Gئ "ب و"ن"ض"ر. ت �م:ح ب> �ر ش�

[54:28] And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be

regulated.


ف"ع"ق"ر" "ع"اط"ى ف"ت �"ه!م ب ص"اح� "اد"و�ا ف"ن

[54:29] But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her).


و"اح�د"ة5 �ح"ة5 ص"ي ��ه�م "ي ع"ل "ا �ن ل س" �ر" أ �ا �ن إ

"ظ�ر� ت ��م!ح ال � يم "ه"ش� ك !وا "ان ف"ك

[54:31] Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which

the maker of an enclosure collects.

:ذ!ر� �الن ب !وط> ل ق"و�م! �"ت "ذ�ب ك

[54:33] The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie.


!وط> ل آل" �ال� إ 5ا ح"اص�ب ��ه�م "ي ع"ل "ا �ن ل س" �ر" أ �ا �ن إ

ر> ح" �س" ب "اه!م �ن ي �ج� ن

[54:34] Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little

before daybreak,


م"ن "ج�ز�ي ن �ك" "ذ"ل ك "ا ند�ن ع� �مGن �ع�م"ة5 ن"ر" ك ش"

[54:35] A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks.


:ذ!ر� �الن ب و�ا "م"ار" ف"ت "ا "ن ت "ط�ش" ب ه!م "نذ"ر" أ �"ق"د و"ل

[54:36] And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the

warning.


"ا ن �ف"ط"م"س �ف�ه� ض"ي ع"ن او"د!وه! ر" �"ق"د و"ل!ذ!ر� و"ن �ي ع"ذ"اب ف"ذ!وق!وا �"ه!م !ن ع�ي

" أ

[54:37] And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so

taste My chastisement and My warning.


"ق�ر9 ت �م:س ع"ذ"اب. ة5 �ر" !ك ب �ح"ه!م ص"ب �"ق"د و"ل

[54:38] And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning.


!ذ!ر� و"ن �ي ع"ذ"اب ف"ذ!وق!وا

[54:39] So taste My chastisement and My warning.

:ذ!ر! الن ع"و�ن" �ف�ر آل" ج"اء �"ق"د و"ل

[54:41] And certainly the warning came to Firon's people.


ذ" �"خ أ �"اه!م "خ"ذ�ن ف"أ Gه"ا !ل ك "ا �ن "ات �آي ب !وا "ذ�ب ك"د�ر> م:ق�ت ع"ز�يز>

[54:42] They rejected all Our communications, so We overtook them after the manner of a Mighty,

Powerful One.


"ك!م ل �"م أ �!م �ك "ئ و�ل! أ �مGن �ر. ي خ" �!م ك !ف�ار! "ك أ!ر� ب الز: ف�ي اءة. "ر" ب

[54:43] Are the unbelievers of yours better than these, or is there an exemption for you in the

scriptures?


"ص�ر. م:نت ج"م�يع. "ح�ن! ن !ون" "ق!ول ي �"م أ

[54:44] Or do they say: We are a host allied together to help each other?


!ر" الد:ب :ون" !و"ل و"ي �ج"م�ع! ال م! !ه�ز" ي س"

[54:45] Soon shall the hosts be routed, and they shall turn (their) backs.


"د�ه"ى أ اع"ة! و"الس� �م"و�ع�د!ه!م اع"ة! الس� "ل� بم"ر:

" و"أ

[54:46] Nay, the hour is their promised time, and the hour shall be most grievous and bitter.


ع!ر> و"س! ل> ض"ال" ف�ي �م!ج�ر�م�ين" ال �ن� إ

[54:47] Surely the guilty are in error and distress.


ع"ل"ى �ار� الن ف�ي !ون" ب ح" �!س ي "و�م" يق"ر" س" م"س� ذ!وق!وا � و!ج!وه�ه�م

[54:48] On the day when they shall be dragged upon their faces into the fire; taste the touch of

hell.


�ق"د"ر> ب "اه! "ق�ن ل خ" ي�ء> ش" !ل� ك �ا �ن إ

[54:49] Surely We have created everything according to a measure.


"ص"ر� �ب �ال ب "م�ح> "ل ك و"اح�د"ة. �ال� إ "ا ن م�ر!" أ و"م"ا

[54:50] And Our command is but one, as the twinkling of an eye.


م�ن �ف"ه"ل �!م "اع"ك ي �"ش أ "ا �ن "ك "ه�ل أ �"ق"د و"ل�ر> م:د�ك

[54:51] And certainly We have already destroyed the likes of you, but is there anyone who will

mind?


!ر� ب الز: ف�ي !وه! ف"ع"ل ي�ء> ش" !ل: و"ك

[54:52] And everything they have done is in the writings.


"ط"ر. ت �م!س �ير> "ب و"ك ص"غ�ير> !ل: و"ك

[54:53] And everything small and great is written down.


"ه"ر> و"ن �ات> ن ج" ف�ي �ق�ين" �م!ت ال �ن� إ

[54:54] Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and rivers,


"د�ر> م:ق�ت �يك> م"ل ع�ند" ص�د�ق> م"ق�ع"د� ف�ي

[54:55] In the seat of honor with a most Powerful King.
