    Tafsir

    Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman as-Sa'di explaining the previous verses says:

    Allah informs that those who disbelieve in His signs and bring hardship upon theMessenger of Allah --had implied and said:

    % :"Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?""Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?""Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?""Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad) from his Lord?"

    And by their claim that if the signs were to come they would indeed believe, so Allahresponded to them with His statement:

    (27) : / "Verily, Allh sends astray whom He wills an"Verily, Allh sends astray whom He wills an"Verily, Allh sends astray whom He wills an"Verily, Allh sends astray whom He wills and guides unto Himself thosed guides unto Himself thosed guides unto Himself thosed guides unto Himself those

    Meaning, seeking Allah's pleasure; then guidance and misguidance is not governed bytheir handsuntil they make that [i.e. their pleasures] be in agreement to Allah's signs.So because of that they have rejected the signs.

    {An-Nisaa' verse 82}

    This is merely that he will know from the reports of the Book of Allah, pondering on it,and by contemplating on other than the Qur'an from the various sciencessubsequentlybecause of that he will verily discover the differences between those sciences and theQur'an is a tremendous distinction.

    Afterwards Allah says:

    Those who believe (in the Oneness of AllhThose who believe (in the Oneness of AllhThose who believe (in the Oneness of AllhThose who believe (in the Oneness of Allh ---- Islmic Monotheism), andIslmic Monotheism), andIslmic Monotheism), andIslmic Monotheism), and

    work righteousness,work righteousness,work righteousness,work righteousness,

    Meaning, they have believed with their hearts in Allah, His angels, His Books, His

    Messengers, the Last Day; confirming that Emaan[i.e. belief] with righteous deeds.

    Deeds done with the heart similar to having love for Allah, fearing Him [i.e. His

    punishment], hoping for (His reward) and deeds done with the limbs like the prayer andsimilar to that.

    (29) TbTbTbTb is for them and a beautiful place of (final) return."is for them and a beautiful place of (final) return."is for them and a beautiful place of (final) return."is for them and a beautiful place of (final) return."

    Meaning, for them is a wholesome situation and an excellent return, and that with what

    they have been granted of Allah's pleasure and hospitality in the Dunya'and the

    hereafter; for them is complete comfort and total serenity. In short, the tree Tuba'which

    is in paradise, the person will travel in its shade for one hundred years without comingfrom (under its shade) as mentioned in authentic narrations.
