Suratul-Kaafeeroon - Suratul-Kaafeeroon was revealed in Makkah.Kaafeeroon is one of the small surahs in the Qur'aan (with only six ayaat), but ithas a big message!

Suratul-Kaafeeroon is all about what we should say to the disbelievers who want us tocompromise in our religion (Islaam).

The thing that is special about Suratul-Kaafeeroon is that…

Rasulullah liked to recite it (along with Ikhlaas) in theSunnah prayers before Fajr,afterMaghrib, and after making Tawaaf.

These two surahs (Kaafeeroon and Ikhlaas) have a lot in common. They both talk about believing only in Allah and not adding any partners to Him, so it is nosurprise that Rasulullah liked reciting them together!

Asbaab An Noozool (The story behind why a surah was Revealed)Rasulullah taught his people to worship Allah, but some of his people still wanted

to worship idols instead.When Rasulullah started teaching Islaam to the Quraysh, they did not like it.

They thought that the idols they prayed to were just as good as Allah.People came from all over Arabia to worship the idols in the Kabah. This was a bigbusiness for the Quraysh.The Quraysh thought all Rasulullah wanted was for people to listen to him and followhis religion. They thought he just wanted money and power, like they did.

So they came up with a compromise…(Which means to change what you are doing so that

people will not be angry or fight with each other)

Their compromise was unbelievable!

They told Rasulullah that they could share gods!The Quraysh said that one year everyone would worship Allah,like Rasulullah wanted, and then the next year everyone(including Rasulullah and the Muslims) would worship idols!The Quraysh thought this was a good idea, they thought theywere being very fair to share their wealth and power with Rasulullah!

It is because of this compromise that the Quraysh offered that... Allah revealed Suratul-Kaafeeroon to answer them.




Allah tells Rasulullah…Tell the disbelievers, Say, "O disbelievers,

“ I do not worship what you worship”

There is no way that Rasulullah and the Muslims could accept the compromise of theQuraysh, because a Muslim can never worship anything along with, or instead of, Allah! Rasulullah and the Muslims knew that the

idols were not real gods, so there is no way

they could worship them at all.Part of believing in Allah the right way, is making sure you do not add partners to Himor say that anything is like Him. The disbelievers wanted the Muslims to addpartners to Allah and say that their gods were like Allah…

And The Muslims could never do that!“And You (disbelievers) will NOT worship

what I (Rasulullah ) worship”… Allah tells Rasulullah to make things clear to the Quraysh.The Quraysh were just offering a plan to stop Rasulullah. They did not really want to

worship Allah. They were not going to worship Allah, no matter how many promises they made; and Allah knew this.The disbelievers of all times try to get Muslims to compromise, but a Muslim can nevercompromise on who or how to worship. There is only one god, Allah, and He has nopartners or helpers at all.
