Kumpulan IKRAM Sdn Bhd (IKRAM) began as an engineering and construction laboratory for the Penang Airport Project in 1952 and subsequently became the research, development and training centre of the Malaysian Public Works Department until its privatisation in 1997.

Today, IKRAM has evolved to become amongst the few organisations in Malaysia capable of providing Total Integrated Engineering Solutions for engineering forensic and consultancy services, specialising in the areas of Geotechnical & Geo-Environmental Engineering; Pavement, Highway & Transportation Engineering; Structural & Material Engineering; Asset & Project Management; and Product & Personnel Certification. With decades of experience in infrastructure engineering, we have carved a niche in forensic and failure investigation in the area of geotechnical, pavement and structural engineering. We carry out a comprehensive range of appraisal and assessment services to assess the stability of slopes, pavements and structures, and in cases of failures, determine the possible or probable cause(s) of failures.

Our forensic engineering expertise and services are fundamentally of two types:

• Preventive Forensic:

We appraise the integrity of slopes, pavements and structures, and subsequently propose remedial engineering measures for the prevention of failures. We have helped the authorities to develop slope hazard and risk maps, assess structural integrity of buildings, and carried out annual pavement condition assessment for road authorities and highway concessionaires.

• Reactive Forensic:

We undertake post-incident root-cause failure analyses to help clients carry out remedial measures and prevent similar failures in the future. Our expertise is often called upon by the clients to help investigate the many landslides, structural and road failures throughout the country.

As a leading engineering products and materials certification and testing body in Malaysia, our world-class product quality assurance services are relied upon by our customers as a solid foundation for their profitable and sustainable business performance.

• Our fully owned IKRAM QA’s Product Certification Scheme is based on the International Standard ISO/IEC 17065 for the testing of product and assessment of the quality system involved. Surveillance of the quality system is conducted and samples of the product are taken from the market or at the point of production, or both, and are assessed for ongoing conformity.

• IKRAM QA product certification is complemented and supported by its Material Testing Laboratory which provides a wide range of testing facilities and capabilities for independent testing services.
