LAWATAN TIMBALAN MENTERI SUMBER MANUSIA

Pada 3 Jun 2010, Jabatan Kimia Malaysia Ibu Pejabat telah menerima lawatan daripada Timbalan Menteri Sumber Manusia dan Ahli Majlis Negara yang diketuai oleh Timbalan Menteri Sumber Manusia Y.B. Senator Dato Maznah Mazlan. Tujuan lawatan ini adalah untuk mendapatkan taklimat Sistem Pengurusan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan yang diamalkan di Jabatan Kimia Malaysia. Turut hadir semasa lawatan ini adalah Y. Bhg. Dato‘ Ir. Dr. Johari Basri, Ir. Hj. Rosli bin Hussin, Prof. Dr. Omar Shawkataly, En. Davies Danavaindran , En. Foo Chek Lee, Tn. Hj. Omar bin Hj. Osman dan En. S. Veerasingam. Para pelawat telah dibawa melawat Makmal Bahagian Forensik, Bahagian KAS dan PJK.

LAWATAN DARI ILP PEDAS, NEGERI SEMBILAN

Pada 22 Julai 2010, Unit OSH Ibu Pejabat telah menerima pelawat dari Institusi Latihan Perindustrian Pedas, Negeri Sembilan. Seramai 20 orang pelawat termasuk Pihak Pengurusan ILP Pedas, NS telah hadir bersama lawatan ini. Tujuan lawatan ini adalah untuk mempelajari dan memahami cara pengurusan Sistem OSH yang diamalkan di Jabatan Kimia Malaysia. Taklimat dan telah disampaikan oleh En. Mohamed Rafiq dan Pn. Noor Azimah. Banyak maklumat, penerangan dan pendedahan telah diberikan supaya mereka memahami perlaksanaan OSH dan boleh mengaplikasikan di tempat mereka. Setelah taklimat, pelawat dibawa melawat ke beberapa lokasi seperti setor bahan Kimia, setor gas, makmal OSH dan galeri IKTD.

Minggu OSH 2010 di JKM Perak Minggu OSH 2010 di JKM Perak telah diadakan pada 19-23/07/2010 yang dirasmikan oleh Tn. Pengarah Kimia Perak. Sebanyak 5 aktiviti telah dijalankan semasa minggu tersebut iaitu kursus ‘Asas Pertolongan Cemas’ (Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Negeri Perak) yang memberi pendedahan cara-cara memberikan pertolongan cemas seperti CPR, ikatan anduh dan lain-lain; taklimat ‘Fire Prevention Programme’ (Fire Prevention Centre, Pulau Pinang) menunjukkan bahaya api dan asap kebakaran serta cara-cara menggunakan alat pemadam api mudah alih; taklimat ‘Job Safety Analysis’ (Pengurus-Pengurus OSH JKM Perak)di mana staf dimaklumkan risiko kerja berdasarkan JSA yang telah disediakan; ‘Respiratory Protection’ (VKI Marketing); dan latihan amali Audit Keselamatan di Tempat Kerja (peserta Kursus Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan di Sektor Awam anjuran DOSH Perak).

Hazard pictograms form part of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). The pictograms are used for the labelling of containers and for workplace hazard warnings.

Hazard pictograms are one of the key elements for the labelling of containers under the GHS, along with:

1. An identification of the product 2. A signal word (either DANGER or WARNING) – where necessary 3. Hazard statements, indicating the nature and degree of the risks posed

by the product 4. Precautionary statements, indicating how the product should be handled

to minimize risks to the user (as well as to other people and the general environment)

5. The identity of the supplier (who might be a manufacturer or importer)

The GHS hazard pictograms are intended to replace older systems of hazard pictograms, such as the European Union pictograms defined in the Dangerous Substances Directive or Canada's Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). The transport pictograms are the same as those recommended in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, widely implemented in national regulations such as the U.S. Federal Hazardous Materials Transportation Law (49 U.S.C. 5101–5128) and D.O.T. regulations at 49 C.F.R. 100–185. Identify the Personal Lab Safety Equipment every student should be aware of and wear, by matching it with its function:

24. Laboratory aprons should be worn during all lab activities.

25. It’s okay to pick up broken glass with your bare hands as long as the glass is placed in the trash.

26. Never leave a lit burner unattended.
