    [Time suggested: 30 minutes]

    Part I

Read the poem carefully. Then, answer the questions that follow.

    Leisure

What is this life if, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs

And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,

Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,

Streams full of stars, like stars at night.

No time to turn at Beautys glance,

And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can

Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this, full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.

    [Time suggested: 20 minutes]

Read the text below and complete the following task.

Technology will help students acquire the skills they need to survive in a complex,

highly-technological knowledge-based economy. It allows students to be intellectually

challenged while providing them with a realistic snapshot of what the modern office looks

    like.

Moreover, students acquire and refine their analysis and problem-solving skills as they

work individually and in teams to find, process and synthesise information theyve found

online. The Web connects students to experts in the real world and provides numerous

opportunities for expressing understanding through images, sound and text.

Technology also enhances the relationship between teacher and student. When

technology is effectively integrated into subject areas, teaching and learning become more

meaningful and fun. Students have the ability to text message answers to one another,

photograph tests and electronically publish content on the Internet.

On the other hand, technology can be a great aid in studying for major exams. Students

can use electronic flashcards, take practice tests, or study in conference calls through the

Internet. Practice tests are scored instantly and provide students with feedback on which

    sections need the most attention.

Books are now available online in an e-book format. Instead of hauling several

pounds of books to class, students are now able to carry a single laptop or e-book reader with

them. This way, students can access the textbook in class while also taking notes.
