The idea for SEA INDIE (Southeast Asia Indie) came to Isarapan Boonyaso in
December of 2008 after he realized that the Southeast Asian region was
becoming a hotbed of indiepop talent. Isarapan’s first compilation was made for
fun just to share with his friends but he subsequently realized that there was a
much wider, indeed world-wide interest, in the music and the SEA INDIE
(Southeast Asia Indie) label was ocially formed in 2009. Although he would
rather called it as a group or network of friends who share love and appreciation
in SEA INDIE music. We are keen to stress the supportive and friendly community
as the nature of SEA INDIE set-up.
SEA INDIE is a Bangkok-based indie music label
started in 2009. With a simple mission statement;
“To unite and promote the great indie scenes in
the Southeast Asian Region; Philippines, Indonesia,
Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. We release
digital and free mp3 compilations and singles that
include indie tracks from these regions.”

Cloud Nimbus, an illustrator who has made a nicecover art for 'Mighty Melody (Malaysia Indie Scene)'Nimbus is a post post graduate student and a full-time freelance graphic artist. He is also a lead-singerof a Malaysian indie pop/rock band named“romancesa.”He's been drawing since six years old. Then,
converted his drawing enthusiasm and collectingcomics hob by into a passion, enrolled for art&designprogram in local university and here he is, become agraphic artist that will work for food and cigarettes.

Cloud Numbus : “Basically the main idea is to visualize a scene where a box orcasket, containing creativity’s from the bands coming out. I think its a pain tovisualize every single bands (up to 16 bands), so I’ve decided to put upa single image that can represent all of the bands from Malaysia withoutbeing an extreme nationalist or too patriotic, by creating a “Jack in The Box”

Love/Comes is an indierock band from Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia, Has beenaround since 2006. Playing small club shows/college during early formation.Since then cut a demo EP titled Letters & Postcards that made available for fewpeople & friends. Love/comes is basically a postpunk band trying to ventureinto the dreamy side of shoegaze, however, not to complicate things they're just playing Indie Rock.

2. Nicestupidplayground – Stereo Girl
Nicestupidplayground was started a frontman and lead singer Charles Rossem
in 1992 by ; and modeled the sound after a distant early 1980s British rock
sound, citing his initial influences as the Cure, the Smiths and Stone Roses.
After several contributions to compilations, their hit song Bedroom Window
landed on the album Boys & Girls 1+1=3 which featured their song as the first
and main single; the compilation won several awards. Bedroom Window was
chosen in Hongkong by Hollywood movie. After being let go from Positive Tone
Records in 2003, Nicestupidplayground continued to tour minimally, of ered
meetings with fans upon the album release of A Beautiful Life.

3. The Drives – Friday Saturday Sunday
Formerly known as Bandwagon in 2003, The Drives was formed by Rizal (ex-
Radish Fan-1995) and Ricky (ex-nicestupidplayground-1993) before recruiting
Bobby (ex-Groover's Lum-1994) and Nellfie (ex-Radish Fan-1995). Their first
demo was recorded in 2004 but didn't make it into the market due to an
unforseen reason. Later in 2005, Nellfie left the band to joinnicestupidplayground and his departure changed the whole band in terms of
musical influences and directions. Diddy had special appearance in Discolight EP
2010 as vocalist for the EP. On July 2010, Jerry had joined The Drives as second
guitar.

4. Yuna – Backpacking Around World
Yuna Zarai is a Malaysian singer-songwriter, She was born in Kedah, andgrew up in Subang Jaya, Kangar, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Malaysia. Yuna startedout as a solo Myspace artist in 2006, singing in both English and BahasaMalaysia. Her music influences include Fiest, The Cardigans, Coldplay, Sia andBob Dylan.Yuna's meteoric rise in the Malaysian indie music scene is largely dueto the strong following she gained via Myspace. Having played at many gigssince the release of her Demo, she is now focusing on promoting andperforming music on her debut EP.Yuna describes her music as "a crossbetween Mary Poppins and Coldplay

Furniture is an independent rock band from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Theband diverging from the atmospheric post-rock/shoegaze sound.Wanted to create the new music that is more rhythmicallyand vocally driven while still marrying the epic and sweepingfoundation the band has built on their debut, creating a sound thatis uniquely Furniture.

6. Couple – Lagu Cinta Untukmu
Couple is one of the few true blue power pop bands in the region,
they have been playing its trade for about 13 years now, dedicating
itself to remind people of the virtues and magic of 'the song', and the
power of the pop!! Taking cues from bands like The Beatles, The
Beach Boys, Big Star, The Who, The Raspberries, The Beat,and Weezer,
Couple has kept on doing what they do best and hope to put a smile
(and hopefully a headbang or toe-tap or two) on all yours guys' faces.
But, making you wet your pants will make us equally happy too!!

7. Liyana Fizi – This Feeling
Liyana Fizi plays a mix of acoustic indie tunes tinged with folk,
bossa, and jazz. Gaining acknowledgment for her melodic
songwriting, the singer/songwriter made her first debut as one of the
founding members of Malaysian indie-pop band Estrella. Everyday
musings and inward thoughts are the main elements of her music,
using simplicity as the main staple.

8. Ferns – Miss Stormcloud
Ferns is a bunch of long-time friends from Kuala lumpur, Malaysia
who got together with the simple aim of making catchy, interesting
pop music. They’d all been playing music for many years with a
diverse background in loud sounds – metal, hardcore, indie-rock –

9. Romancesa – Woody
Romancesa is an independent Malaysian band formed in late 2007. They
play easy listening tunes generally with a taste of indierock, modern rock,
alternative and a bit taste of pop. Like their name, most of the songs are
about love and teenage story, friendship and life, and they proved they still
can rockin the stage with these theme.

Khottal (Pronunciation: ˈkä-təl ) is a name of band hailing fromMalacca, Malaysia. Formed in mid-2008 consists of 11 people, who
are like a mixed bag of pills. This 11-piece outfit skips between punk,
unpolished pop, indie rock, jangly and fey melodies that will make
your laughter sounds a little dif erent to the norm.

The Hollows was born and raised in Ipoh, Malaysia. Mostly influenced by jangly indie-pop sensibility with a mould of they own special sense of music. In 2009, the band has released the first debut 3 songs EP. In2010, It was announced that the band will be no longer active, however,
all the songs will be transfer to a new band based in Kuala Lumper named“Street Sound Scene”

16. The Sofa Sessions – Nobody Else

The Sofa Session is a band formed in late 2004 by singer-songwriter Arif Akhir with Nazneen Halim and Shahril Eashak. The most recent lineup of theband features Arif on guitar and lead vocals, Shahriz Stixx Ismail on drumsand percussions and Faidhal Mustaq Faizan on bass. The band is musicallyinfluenced by artists like the Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers and DavidBowie.
Events the band has performed at include Rock The World 7, Mont'Kiara Jazz& Rhythm Fest 2005, After Hours II at the Singapore Esplanade, Fete De LaMusique, Starbucks Cof ee music series, Troubadours / Doppelganger liveevents and many other independently organized live shows and privatefunctions. The band released an EP, Five Songs, in early 2006 and iscurrently working on a full-length album.
