Collaboration with ICEpower — Direct Energy HD Amplifier

ICEpower and Pioneer have collaborated to develop a unique power module— the Direct Energy HD Amplifier. Pioneer's technologies have beencombined with the ICEpower amplifier which features multiple feedbacks toovercome the drawbacks typical of class D amplifiers. The SC line A/V pre-main amplifier and receivers are capable of delivering overwhelming power,free of distortion. The units are compatible with the latest highdefinition audio formats, and the SC-LX90 and SC-LX82 are also certifiedfor THX Ultra2 Plus.

AIR Studios Sound Tuning

Pioneer has a proven track record of applying its audio expertise to thecreation of multi-channel sound environments, collaborating withGeorge Martin's AIR Studios in England on numerous occasions. Ourperfect application of the world-famous dubbing studio's monitoringmethods intensifies the emotion and excitement of what you see andhear. Established in 1969 in London, AIR Studios is now an acclaimedrecording complex, favoured by many of the world's most popular andrenowned musical talents. The SC-LX82 and SC-LX72 have received theAIR Studios Monitor certification, while the SC-LX90 has been grantedthe highest Monitor Reference certification.

MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System)

Create the optimum acoustic environment with Pioneer's MCACC, createdwith the expertise of professional recording studios. The system — completewith custom microphone — automatically compensates for differences inspeaker size, level and distance, and equalises response.

Advanced MCACC

The Advanced MCACC uses a 3D calibration method with even more precisemeasurements by including the time axis. The A/V receivers also feature aspeaker polarity check for detecting misconnected cables, and a reverbmeasurement display for showing before/after calibration results (exceptSC-LX90). The latest improvement allows measured data to be saved on USBmemory for cable-less PC viewing*. The system automatically measurescrossover frequency* — much easier than the previous manual setting.* For VSX-1020-K and VSX-920-K only

Phase Control

Phase Control is an innovative solution for the phase lag in a multi-channel speakersetting. It compensates the delayed bass to improve sound synchronization.

Full Band Phase Control

The further advanced Full Band Phase Control technology focuses onthe group delay in the speaker network filter, and compensates withspecial digital signal processing (DSP), to adjust the phase of eachunit as well as the group delay for each speaker. Full Band PhaseControl gives multi-range speakers the sound coherence of full-rangespeakers, while retaining the wide frequency range advantage.

Various Speaker Settings

Previous A/V receiver models only allowed surround back speakers for a 7.1-channel layout. This year's lineup provides more options in terms of speaker

placement. Combine front wide speakers with Pioneer-original WideSurround mode to enjoy more spacious sound in the front. Wide SurroundMovie provides motion feeling in front, while Wide Surround Music creates awide-spreading sound field in the foreground. Or place front height speakersand use Dolby Pro Logic IIz for vertical-spreading sound. If you can only place5.1-channel speakers, Pioneer's Virtual Height/Surround Back modes offer anideal solution. Each mode creates height/surround back sound image withoutreal speakers. The two modes can even be combined to enjoy 9.1-channelsound from 5.1-channel speaker settings. By adding front wide speakers, youcan enjoy 11.1-channel sound from 7.1-channel speaker layout.

Dolby Pro Logic IIz

Dolby Pro Logic IIz realises more spacious surround sound by addingfront height channels to the conventional 5.1ch/7.1ch speaker settings.The enveloping sound with additional depth and dimension creates alifelike listening experience. Dolby Pro Logic IIz does not require specialcontents, and works with existing soundtracks.

PQLS with HDMI

Pioneer's Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) technology eliminatesdistortion caused by timing errors, giving the best possible digital-to-analogue conversion.

PQLS 2ch Audio

Through HDMI connection, the PQLS 2ch Audio allows accurate CD-DA signal transmission from a compatible Pioneer Blu-ray Disc player,reproducing jitter-free, dynamic sound.

PQLS Multi Surround

Connected to a compatible Pioneer Blu-ray Disc player via HDMI, the SC-LX82, SC-LX72, and VSX-LX52 create ideal multi-channel audio playback withjitter-free signal transmission and precise reproduction of minute details.

Auto Level Control

Auto Level Control equalises volume level differences between tracks whenplaying music from an iPod or other sources.

Multi-channel Auto Level Control supports surround sound playback,maintaining a consistent level and clear audio even at a low volume.

Advanced Sound Retriever

Pioneer's latest A/V pre-main amplifier and receivers feature the AdvancedSound Retriever, which restores the output of compressed audio — such asWMA, MPEG-4 AAC, and MP3 — to the level of CD sound. The AdvancedSound Retriever creates new signals to restore the minor details left outduring the compression process.

Multi-Channel Advanced Sound Retriever

Advanced Sound Retriever for multi-surround sound is compatiblewith DVD soundtracks featuring Dolby Digital or DTS.

iPod/iPhone Digital Connection via USB

Enjoy iPod videos, pictures and music via digitalconnection. The iPod digital connection modelscome with an iPod/iPhone cable, allowingdirect connection without having to buy adocking station. The audio signals are directlytransferred to the A/V receiver's high-performance DAC, offeringsuperior sound compared to analogue connections. What's more, youcan operate your iPod with the A/V receiver's remote control. With aniPhone/iPod touch, you can even watch YouTube video content enlargedon your TV screen. In addition to simple 'plug and play' connectivity, theA/V receivers will display the album artwork on a connected HDTV. Songtitles can be shown in 7 languages. For your reference, the analogueconnection model comes with a dedicated iPod terminal and an iPodcable, allowing playback of iPod videos and pictures as well as music.

iControlAV iPhone Application for A/V Receiver Control

iControlAV is an iPhone/iPod touch application developed by Pioneer, freelydownloadable from the iTunes Store/Apple's Application Store. The applicationallows you to use your iPhone/iPod touch as a remote for controlling the A/Vreceiver's functions such as volume, zone, input, PQLS, Phase Control, balance,and emphasis. Internet Radio

The SC-LX82 and SC-LX72 feature the vTuner function for listening to amultitude of radio programmes from around the world on the internet.The VSX-1020-K and VSX-920-K also provide access to internet radiowith 24 preset URLs. You can also register your favourite stations by justcopying and pasting the URL through your PC's web browser, or bymanual input from the remote control or a USB keyboard*.* VSX-1020/VSX-920 only

HDMI® (V. 1.4a with 3D)

With Pioneer's new A/V receivers featuring HDMI V. 1.4a with 3Dtechnology, you can enjoy the latest 3D Blu-ray Discs and broadcasts. Allyou need is a 3D compatible Blu-ray Disc player and 3D compatibledisplay. The A/V receivers also support Deep Colour and x.v.Colour forvibrant, lifelike colours with smooth gradation transitions.

Anchor Bay® 1080p Video Scaler

With the highly acclaimed Anchor Bay® video scaler, the SC-LX82, SC-LX72, VSX-LX52, VSX-1020-K, and VSX-920-K can convert standarddefinition analogue video signals up to 1080p digital resolution to bestmatch the HDTV's performance. The upscaler on the A/V receivers canrealise up to 1080p high-definition picture from a standard definitionpicture. In addition to analogue video, HDMI input can also be upscaled.

PQLS with HDMI

The BDP-LX53 and BDP-330 feature PQLS Multi-Surround, an advancedversion of Pioneer's PQLS jitter reduction technology. By HDMI connectionwith a compatible A/V receiver, the Blu-ray Disc players can transmit CDaudio and DVD/Blu-ray Disc multi-channel sound with minimum quality loss,to reproduce realistic sound. The PQLS Bitstream feature is also available forlinear PCM and bitstream signals.*(The BDP-LX91 features PQLS 2ch Audio for CD audio transmission.)

iControlAV iPhone Application for BDP Control
