ABOUT US
Laboratorio de DJs or ‘DJLAB’ for short, is a place to explore your Musical Ideas, dive deeper into Music Technology, be involved with the Central America Community of Electronic Music Artists and Become a Professional DJ and Music Producer.
Since 2008, DJLAB has trained over 400 talents, some who are now mixing live professionally, creating their own sound or just enjoying the experience of playing music at home.
Based in Costa Rica, it was the brainchild of DJ Esteban Howell, who created it as a place to learn modern DJ Techniques. Nowadays, it has become a hub to connect with the World’s best Artists, Certified Trainers, Product Specialists and DJs. It is also a place to make new friends, start musical projects, receive the best tips on getting Equipment and enjoy some outstanding performances every year.
Everyone is welcome to participate in our Courses and Workshops. Our students come from many different backgrounds and fields ranging from high school graduates to technicians and music Professionals, engineers, doctors, lawyers, designers, entepreneurs, etc.
You can find Courses for every level, you’ll be able to get the Basic Training where you will learn how to DJ for your own entertainment or participate in the Advanced Courses where you can learn the Techniques of Mixing, Remixing, Producing, Mapping and Performing Live.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMLaboratorio de DJs DJ Learning Program take the students into a musical journey from the Essential Concepts of Beat, Tempo, Rhythm, Structure and Harmony of any genre to the Principles of Layering, Perfect Sound Balance and the DJ Set flow, according to time and space.
Students bring their own DJ Equipment or take advantage of the Professional DJ gear in the Classroom, and apply each practice to their own musical taste taking Native Instruments TRAKTOR as main platform.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMLaboratorio de DJs Music Production Learning Program is based on Ableton Live as Main Platform for developing skills from a Basic Level of Beat Making in the Session View to an Advanced Level of musical exploration in the Arrangement View.
Everyone is welcome to participate and finish the Modules at their own pace and, at the same time, incorporate their own hardware throughout the process and apply the techniques to their musical personal approach.

ESTEBAN HOWELLCreator/DirectorOne of the most experienced DJs in Costa Rica, with more than 12 years playing with Vinyl Turntables, CDJs, Serato & Traktor. Esteban has played with John Digweed, UNKLE, Dubfire, Hernan Cattaneo, Steve Aoki and many more. He has trained more than 250 new talents and turned into Digital DJing with TRAKTOR some of the best DJs in town.
FELIPE LOÁICIGAProducer/Live PerformerGraduated from DUOC, Universidad Católica de Chile as Sound Engineer, a carrier he continues to evolve in every project, Felipe has one of the most complex Minimal Techno Live Act in the Region as ‘Selianego’ using Ableton Live. His exploration with Sound Design dives deeper into Sound Art as well.
CHARLY FARISEOComposer/ProducerOriginally a Pianist, Charly is fully dedicated to his new progressive rock band ‘H7G’ with LP’s released. He is also the Producer of Burning Man’s Costa Rica representative duo ‘Santos & Zurdo’ among other artist, using Ableton Live as his Main Platform.

Laboratorio de DJs has been a part of all kinds of events promoting Cultural and Social Integration within the Local Community. As Partner of Institutions such as Alliançe Français de Costa Rica and Ministerio de Cultura.
AF ANNUAL EVENTLaboratorio de DJs partnered with Alliançe Français de Costa Rica to co-produce its Annual Event in 2013, featuring the european duo ‘Jukebox Champions’ and DJLab Artist ‘Raido’. This event was sponsored by LG Electronics.
100 EN UN DIAAn innitiative that started in Bogota, Colombia it echoed in San Jose when a group of independant artists of different disciplines took the city by surprise with all kinds of performances. DJLAB’s stand invited people to bring their old vinyl records and play them for passersby.
LE CUBE NOIR, FIA 2014Festival Internacional de las Artes is the largest and well known arts festival in Costa Rica. For the first time since it started, in 2014 the Alliançe Français teamed up with Laboratorio de DJs to create LE Cube Noir, a Stage focused on Electronic Music featuring French Talents Bambounou, Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, Hoosky, Le K From France and The Roger Molls Band along with the local talent Selianego (live), DizzyJ (live), DNCFLR, Raido (live) and Bartosz Brenes.

As a way to promote Our Work and at the same time the DJ Culture to a wider audience, Laboratorio de DJs stablished the Show Room Concept as a Photo Booth that at the same time is a Real Professional DJ Booth.
This way we connect directly with people interested in getting to know more about DJing by letting them have access to the Equipment they see on Festivals and Clubs Videos, while they have fun, take pictures and share them with their friends on Facebook and Instagram.
The DJLAB Showrooms can be set up in any kind of event or venue, like a Club, a bar, a School or University and even a Technology or Music Exhibition.
At the same time, it can include Pioneer Technology, Traktor System and Hardware or old classic Technics Turntables.
