Reactions 1341 - 5 Mar 2011 Cetuximab Periungual inflammation treated with adapalene: case report A 49-year-old man with metastatic renal cancer developed periungual inflammation after treatment with cetuximab. Following numerous cycles of fluorouracil-based chemotherapy, the man received cetuximab [dosage and route not stated]. Afterwards, he developed an acneiform skin rash on his face and periungual inflammation. The rash was almost completely alleviated with minocycline, but the periungual inflammation increased and became more painful. Application of betamethasone butyrate propionate and zinc oxide had no effect on the inflammation. Adapalene was applied to the left foot and betamethasone butyrate propionate was applied to the right. After 2 weeks, inflammation on the left foot had decreased significantly more than the right. Therefore, adapalene was applied to both feet. The periungual inflammation was markedly reduced and pain diminished by almost 30%. Hachisuka J, et al.
