SRI BESTARI
SSBYOUR BRIGHT FUTURE BEGINS HERE
Friday, 28 December, 2012 marked another meaningful event in the calendar of
Sekolah Sri Bestari when we held our annual Orientation Day. It was just simply awesome
to see all the new faces filled with enthusiasm and curiosity, getting ready to know the
school better.
Mr Chris Frankland , the Director of Studies, gave his welcoming speech and as
always, his speech was full of colour. The school mission and vision were shared, while
the school culture, code of conduct and other practices were elaborated. The respective
class teachers then led the students to their new home in SSB. There, a lot of fantastic
activities awaited the students in the classroom. Every student went home with something
in their hands!
Among the vivid advice from the Head of School, students were encouraged to
try something new. To make time for themselves and not to be afraid to fail. They must
challenge themselves and with these actions, they will find a sense of belonging. Students
were advised to make the most of their time here in SSB. The day completed with a tour
around the school to give the feel for the young charges to treat the school as their second
home.
It was a fun-filled day as everyone would have agreed.
To all my dear new students, good luck as you embark on your secondary school
adventure in Sri Bestari!

School resumes after the mid-term break, and we look for-ward to settling down to academic studies, after all the sports events of the first part of the school year. The Sports Days were well attended, successful, and lots of fun. This is an im-portant part of our yearly programme, as it inculcates a strong feeling of team spirit, cooperation, effort and leader-ship. Our recent weekend Leadership Camp in Ulu Yam al-so reinforced the importance of living and learning together, and was of great benefit to those who attended.
The SPM results continue to improve, and this years results were highly commendable, with ten of our students achieving straight As, and a third of all our students gaining five or more As. Kudos to our students, and to our dedicated team of teachers, who supported them throughout their time in SSB. It also goes without saying, that we cannot realise this kind of success with-out the parents and guardians, who encourage their children, and support what we do here in SSB. There is a very strong correlation between close cooperation between school and parents, and academic success. On that theme, we are in the final stages of the groundwork, in establishing a Parent Teachers Association, to replace the existing Parents Association, and it is our hope that this will forge closer links between home and school. For this to be a success, we rely on your support.
Other developments include the introduction of a new school website, which will be much more organic and interactive, in that it will continually update visi-tors and parents on school events. Along with this, there will be new Facebook and Twitter links, which will be launched at the same time, later this month. In addition, the school is planning to introduce a new uniform in January of 2014, which will be cooler, more comfortable, and more fashionable. We shall of course update you on this, when plans become more concrete.
We all look forward to continued improvements and success at SSB. I am always pleased to meet informally with parents to discuss ideas and suggestions, as are the Heads of the three schools. Please do not hesitate to come and see us. Thank you again, for supporting Sri Bestari, and lets all pull together for the benefit of your children.
