MATLAMAT (GOALS):

Helping students to develop and master the third language as an addition the generic human capital to enable them to compete in the international market. HASIL PEMBELAJARAN (LEARNING OUTCOMES):

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. rewrite simple sentences of Japanese language in a correct manner. (PLO1-K-C2)

2. respond effectively as a leader or member in the group. (PLO3-CS-P3)

3. share the knowledge of language and culture of Japanese effectively. (PLO6-LLL-A3)

SINOPSIS (SYNOPSIS): This course is designed for students to learn the basic Japanese language. Students are exposed to the skills of listening, reading, speaking, and writing with basic vocabulary, grammar and structure. Students are also exposed to the real daily situations which will help them to communicate using Japanese language. ISI KANDUNGAN (CONTENT):

INTRODUCTION TO BASIC JAPANESE LANGUAGE (1 hour) 1.1 Japanese culture and society background. 1.2 Greetings and commonly used sentences in Japanese classroom.

2.0

INTRODUCTION TO BASIC JAPANESE PRONUNCIATIONS AND WRITING SCRIPT (HIRAGANA) (2 hours) 2.1 Japanese Phonology Chart. 2.2 Hiragana writing practice. 2.3 Nouns in ‘family’ category, body parts and names of faculty in UTHM.

3.0 INTRODUCING ONESELF (2 hours) 3.1 How to introduce oneself for the first time meeting. 3.2 Introduction to basic sentences in Japanese language. (‘desu’ dan ‘dewa arimasen’).

3.3 To form question by using particle ‘ka’ .

3.4 Use of particle ‘no’ as a conjunctive particle, to connect two nouns (organisation). 3.5 Use of particle ‘mo’ (also). 3.6 Counter suffixes for years – (~sai). 3.7 Numbers (0 until 99).

4.0 INTRODUCTION TO DEMONSTRATIVE WORDS (REFER TO A THING) (2 hours)

4.1 Introduction to demonstrative words (refer to a thing) - ‘kore’ ‘sore’ and ‘are’ (this, that, that). 4.2 Introduction to modifying nouns (demonstrative words) - ‘kore’N, ‘sore’N and ‘are’N (this N, that N & that N). 4.3 Use of particle ‘no’ as a conjunctive particle, to connect two nouns (possession & explanation). 4.4 How to say numbers (telephone numbers, room numbers, car numbers etc.).

5.0 INTRODUCTION TO DEMONSTRATIVE WORDS (REFER TO A PLACE) (2 hours)

5.1 Introduction to demonstratives words (refer to a place). 5.2 Use of particle ‘no’ as a conjunctive particle to connect two nouns (country & company). 5.3 Introduction to counter suffixes.

5.4 Numbers (100 until 100,000). 5.5 Price.

6.0 INTRODUCTION TO VERBS, DAYS OF THE WEEK AND TIME (2 hours) 6.1 Introduction to verbs related with time. 6.2 Days of the week and telling time. 6.3 Use of particle ‘ni’ to indicate time. 6.4 Past tense, present tense and future tense of verb sentences and noun sentences.

7.0 VERBS THAT INDICATE MOVEMENT TO A CERTAIN PLACE AND DATE (2 hours)

7.1 Introduction to verbs that indicate movement to a certain place (go, come and go back). 7.2 Introduction to dates (month and day). 7.3 Use of particle ‘e’ that indicate directions of the move. 7.4 Use of particle ‘de’ that indicate transportation. 7.5 Use of particle ‘to’ that indicate ‘together with’.

8.0 VERBS INDICATES MOVEMENT TO A CERTAIN PLACE AND DATE (1 hour)

8.1 Introduction to transitive verbs.
