Candidates misinterpreted the word healthy. Level of difficulty of question paper in general

Average. for both questionsQuestions presented are not difficult. In question 1, candidates are required to interprete a chart and a table about youth visiting the dentist and reasons for visits. They need to analyse and linked the information found in the two visuals given. Candidates should be able to answer this question. They were also required to write within the limited given words ( 150-200 words) and they are advised to spend about 40 minutes on this questionQuestion 2

Candidates are required to write on the topic given and whether they agree or disagree with the statement given. CONFIDENTIALCONFIDENTIALUse of language and terms All the candidates wrote in english. Other comments related to candidates performance (including candidates use of English)Question 1The introduction and overview of all the candidates look as if memorized. Either they have been told about the questions earlier or they memorized them. Candidates did not plan well

StrengthThe candidates attempted the questions. They compare and use all the information given in the 2 visualsWeaknesses

Msinterpreted the firs viauLAt . Sometimes linkers were not used and reasons were not given. Language of comparison was also missing from their writings. They tried to analyse the information but it was not very effective . Reasons and data were also not properly presented or reasons were not mention at all. Many assumptions were given. They did not use high frequency words. Mostly simple vocabularyQuestion 2

Answers to quantitative questions Question1In question 1, candidates are required to interprete a chart and a table about pet ownership. They need to analyse the results of the survey and linked the information found in the two visuals given. Candidates should be able to answer this question. They were also required to write within the limited given words ( 150-200 words) and they are advised to spend about 40 minutes on this question

Question 2

Candidates are required to agree or disagree with the statement given. They must also justify their stand giving relevant example. Actually, word count is not required but because they were not told (have never attempted this type of question in school before), majority of them wrote about three paragraphs and then leave one paragraph empty to write their conclusions at the last paragraph. Just imagine 2 written paragraphs, I empty area and then suddenluy there is a conclusion!.

Quality of questions in general

This is a listening test paper. The candidates need to listen very carefully to the tape and answer the questions on the paper given. In general the questions presented were easy for the candidates if they are able to hear the tape played clearly

There are 8 questions. Many candidates did not attempt the questions or wrongly answered the questions This may be due to lack of time or they could not hear the questions at all.

Part II

There are 6 questions. All the candidates in this centre answered the questions

Part III

There are 6 questions. Candidates are advised to write not more than five words. Yet many of them wrote more than that
