Program Kem Membaca 1 Malaysia (KM1M) dan Kempen READ: One Nation Reading Together merupakan program membaca serentak terbesar di Malaysia yang melibatkan murid-murid sekolah rendah dan menengah di seluruh negara. Kedua-dua program ini merupakan perkongsian pintar antara Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM) dan Scholastic Malaysia. Program ini mula dilaksanakan pada tahun 2008 bertujuan membina, memupuk dan seterusnya membudayakan amalan membaca dalam kalangan murid sekolah di Malaysia. Program ini dilaksanakan pada penghujung penggal persekolahan bagi mengisi ruang dan aktiviti selepas peperiksaan di samping meneruskan momentum pembelajaran kendiri murid-murid di sekolah. Antara pencapaian tertinggi program ini ialah penerimaan Anugerah The Most Number Of Children Reading Storybooks in Schools in a Day di dalam entri Malaysian Book Of Record (MBOR) 2010. Bagi menyokong dan memastikan kejayaan program ini, Scholastic Malaysia akan menyumbang 50 buah buku bahasa Inggeris terbitan Scholastic kepada setiap sekolah yang mengambil bahagian. Selain dari meningkatkan koleksi bahan bacaan Pusat Sumber Sekolah, sumbangan ini juga menjadi pemangkin kepada pelaksanaan Memperkukuh Bahasa Inggeris (MBI) dan diharapkan dapat memberi impak positif kepada peningkatan tahap penguasaan bahasa Inggeris murid-murid. Majlis Pelancaran Kem Membaca 1 Malaysia (KM1M) dan Read 2012 yang dijangka akan disempurnakan oleh YBhg. READ: ONE NATION READING TOGETHER 2008 Scholastic launched the inaugural READ: One Nation Reading Together campaign that is aimed at fostering good reading habits in children and to make excellent books available to those who have limited access to them. The inaugural READ campaign kicked off with the support of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development and its Department of Social Welfare. Scholastic donated a book for every child that read for 2,008 seconds. As a result of this campaign, 75 schools with a total of 29,036 students participated in the reading campaign. 29,036 books donated by Scholastic were given to 35 children homes nominated by the Department of Social Welfare and 80 schools nominated by MOE. 2009 Scholastics READ2009 campaign was incorporated into MOEs Kem Membaca 1 Malaysia (KM1M) activities. Scholastic played host to the closing ceremony of KM1M at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya. A total of 160,144 students from 260 schools across Malaysia read for 2,009 seconds. The participating schools and an additional 200 beneficiary schools nominated by MOE received 50,800 books. 2010 Scholastics READ2010 event was listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the Most Number of Children Reading Storybooks in Schools in a Day. Scholastic played host to the opening ceremony of KM1M at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Tsun Jin, Kuala Lumpur. READ2010 saw the participation of 413,595 students from 1,000 schools nominated by MOE. The participating schools received their share of the 50,000 books for their effort in promoting reading among their students. 2011 Scholastics READ2011 event was held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur on 2 November 2011, in collaboration with the MOEs KM1M campaign. This nationwide reading activity saw the participation of 641,641 students from a total of 1,525 schools. The participating schools received their share of the 76,250 books for their effort in promoting reading among their students.
