DAPATAN AKREDITASI PROGRAM SARJANA MUDA OLEH BEM

Programme Outcomes

There are a number of mismatches found in the mapping of courses to POs, assessment tool / activities to CLOs and POs and the appropriate use of assessment rubrics which affect the direct and explicit measurement of the Pos.

PSA Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Technology (Medical Electronics)

1 Minor Concerns

Strengths: Industrial Training which is

based on a well-structured and very effective Work-Based Learning (WBL) approach.

The labs namely Centre for Medical Electronic Technology (CMET) which is equipped with the state of art testing and calibration facilities receiving lab accreditation from Standard Malaysia and SIRIM.

DAPATAN AKREDITASI PROGRAM SARJANA MUDA OLEH BEM

Academic Curriculum

To increase the number of courses associated to automotive design to reflect the niche of the program.

To include attribute related to the engineer and society, sustainability and ethics in the course contents.

QMS

Inadequate evident on the PO attainment analysis for CQI both at course and programme levels.

Closing the loop in the current system is not visible where the systematic CQI for programme improvement was not observed.

Direct involvement from all relevant stakeholders to the program in term of QMS is very limited.

PSAS Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Automotive Design)

2 Minor Concerns

Strengths: IHL has

embarked on establishing industrial relationship and exposure through Work-Based Learning (WBL) approach.

DAPATAN AKREDITASI PROGRAM SARJANA MUDA OLEH BEM

Programme Outcomes

The PO8 Professional Ethics and PO12 Life-Long Learning need to be assessed. This will address the suggestion made by the external examiner on the design, delivery and assessment of all 12 POs.

Academic Curriculum

The total credit for FYP is 19 credit hours and this exceeds the maximum of 12 credit hour.

The % of practical learning need to be recalculated since it should be based on engineering technology related courses only.

Teaching and Support Staff

Less than 30% of the staff has professional certification or al least 2 years of industrial working experience.

ACCREDITATION

•This given to a programme that has been recommended for approval by BEM to be conducted.

Provisional Accreditation

•An engineering technician (engineering or engineering technology diploma) education programme whose graduates are acceptable for Engineering Technicians / Inspector of Works-registration with BEM. This is accorded to a programme that satisfies the minimum standard for accreditation set by ETAC.

Accredited Programme

•This is given to a programme that fails to meet the minimum standard for accreditation and has major shortcomings. In such a case, a further application is not normally considered within the next one year.

Declined Accreditation

•ETAC reserves the right to cease / terminate the accreditation if there is non-compliance or breach of accreditation requirements after accreditation has been given.

Cessation / Termination of Accreditation

2.0 Accreditation Objective

To ensure that Continual Quality Improvement (CQI) is being practiced by IHLs.

As a tool to benchmark engineering technician education programmes offered by IHLs.

Engineering Technology

• To ensure that graduates of the accredited engineering technology programmes satisfy the minimum academic requirements for registration as engineering technologist with BEM.

Engineering Technician

• To ensure that graduates of the accredited engineering technician education programmes satisfy the minimum academic and practical requirements for registration as engineering technicians / inspector of works with BEM.

3.0 Engineering Technician / Technologist

Engineering Technology is that part of the technological field

that requires the application of scientific and engineering knowledge and methods combined with technical skills in support of engineering activities.

Engineering Technology programmes are oriented

towards application with introductory mathematics and science courses and only qualitative introduction to engineering fundamentals and applied sciences. Almost similar courses with the engineering curricula but variation in the distribution of theories and practical skills are different.

Engineering Technologist

• Implement engineering works by applying engineering & scientific knowledge combined with technical skills to support engineering activities.

Engineering Technician

• Implement engineering technology works by applying engineering knowledge combined with technical skills to support engineering technology activities.

4.0 Programme Educational Objectives

Are specific goals consistent with the mission and vision of the IHL

Are responsive to the expressed interest of programme stakeholders

Describe the expected achievements of graduates in their career and professional life a few years after graduation

5.0 Programme Outcomes (PO)
