The Malaysian Premiere of Ctrl+Alt+Compete on January 18 2012, sponsored by the Cradle Investment Program and supported by the major movers and shakers of the Startup scene in Malaysia. 200+ entrepreneurs turned up for a great night of networking and viewing of the movie.
• This was an opportunity to treat our startups to a great time, promote BizSpark, as well as our key products relevant to startups such as Azure, WP7, Win8 and SQL 2012. 179

HACKWEEKENDSILICON VALLEY COMES TO MALAYSIA
BEING ONE WITH THE COMMUNITY BY SUPPORTING LOCAL EVENTS AND INITIATIVES:
• Held on 18th January 2012• Participants competed for the
Malaysia Book of Records “Fastest Typist in Malaysia” and creating the “Most Typist Gathering in Malaysia” record
• A one day TEDxYouth event (a spinoff from the ever popular TED.com) on November 19 2011 designed to empower and inspire young people
• A not-for-profit event which took place from October 20 and 21 2011 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Malaysia 2011
• We are proud to sponsor the first Hackweekend on July 30 and 31 2011 – a hackathon, bringing together programmers and designers to hack together new products or services over 24 hours

Collaboration is the most pragmatic approach to bridge industry players with academics.
Open innovation was first termed by Henry Chesbrough as “a paradigm that assumes that firms can and should use external ideas as well as internal ideas, and internal or external paths to market, as the firms look to advance their technology”
• From July 2011 to January 2012, MIC@Cyberjaya embarked on a project to connect Visual Solutions, a leading Malaysia ISV, with Monash University to create a WP7 LOB App for flexHR, their Human Resource Management Solution.

HACK@MIND is a 24 hours hackathon organized by MIND (Malaysian Independent Developers) together with MIC (Microsoft Innovation Center) that was held on 2nd & 3rd June 2012.

We helped Rofarez Solutions to pitch his way to DEMO Asia 2012 in Singapore.We sponsored OctoApp to attend the month long YouNoodle BaseCamp ain Silicon Valley as part of the “Pitch Your Way to Silicon Valley” contest. We sent WebBytes to the APAC Entrepreneur Summit 2012 in Sydney to connect with leaders in the entrepreneurial community

winning documentary, Ctrl+Alt+Compete as part of their 20th Anniversary celebration and aims to celebrate the continuous passion, dedication and determination of technopreneurs in Malaysia and aims to reach 20,000 viewers over a 6-month campaign.
• It kicks off with a strategic collaboration with Golden Screen Cinemas hosting four complimentary screenings. This will be followed by a series of Partner-Hosted screenings and broadcast media.
• MIC@Cyberjaya is proud to be a part of this great initiative to inspire Malaysians towards entrepreneurship.

19 media representatives from 14 news/ business, technology publications 6 of them from print/ online publications; 7 magazines; 1 of them were from a prime time new station. Within 24 hours, the event secured 3 broadcast clips, 6 online clips and 3 print clips.

IN MALAYSIA, WE STARTED THE JOURNEY IN 2005 (MIC LAUNCHED ) AND REAFFIRMED OUR COMMITMENT IN 2008 (BIZSPARK LAUNCH)
IN FY12, WE RAISED THE GAME BY ACCELERATING THE APPS DEVELOPED BY STARTUPS AND STUDENTS; SUPPORTED PROMISING STARTUPS TO CHASE THEIR DREAMS OVERSEAS, AND PUT IN A BIG BOLD GOAL OF INSPIRING THE NEXT 20,000 ENTERPRENEURS.
WE WERE RECOGNISED BY THE MALAYSIAN VENTURE CAPITAL AND PRIVATE EQUITY ASSOCIATION FOR OUR WORK IN DEVELOPING THE LOCAL STARTUP ECOSYSTEM, CULMINATING IN A FULL PAGE WRITEUP IN THE EDGE, THE LEADING BUSINESS WEEKLY. A GREAT RECOGNITION INDEED.
OVER THE YEARS, WE HAVE CELEBRATED MANY SUCCESSES AND WON MANY ACCOLADES LIKE THIS YEAR. HOWEVER, THE GREATEST SATISFACTION IS KNOWING THAT WE HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF STUDENTS AND STARTUPS IN MALAYSIA.
