INFORMATION FOR BUYERSCONDITIONS OF SALEMasterpiece CONDITIONS OF SALE FOR BUYERS governs the terms and conditions of contract between the buyer and the seller of a lot and is set out later in this catalogue. Persons who have been registered as bidders will be deemed to have read and be fully aware of and subject to the terms as stated in the CONDITIONS OF SALE FOR BUYERS.. No reliance should be placed on oral representations made by any person at the auction.

ESTIMATESEstimates are based upon prices recently paid at auction for comparable property, condition, rarity, quality and provenance. Estimates are subject to revision. Buyers should not rely upon estimates as prediction of actual selling prices. Estimates do not include the buyer’s premium. For estimate on request, please contact us for further information.

RESERVESThe reserve is the confidential minimum price the consignor will accept. The reserve will not normally exceed the low estimate.

BUYERS PREMIUMMasterpiece charges a premium to the buyer on the final bid price of each lot sold at 12% (twelve percent).

VIEWING/ADMISSION Pre-auction viewings are open to the public and free of charge. Buyers are strongly advised to examine the lots thoroughly, Condition reports are available. Masterpiece reserves the right to refuse admission and participation in its auctions.

REGISTRATIONProspective buyers need to register for a numbered bidding paddle. Details of bank accounts are required for credit reference purposes.

BIDDING The Auctioneer accepts bids from those present in the saleroom, from telephone bidders, or by absentee written bids left with Masterpiece in advance of the auction. Bidding will be done in Ringgit (MYR). The auctioneer will not specifically identify bids placed on behalf of the consignor.

BIDDING INCREMENTSThe auctioneer will normally start with bids below the low estimate and may at his own discretion increase bids. The standard increments are:-

ABSENTEE BIDSAbsentee bids are written instructions from prospective buyers directing Masterpiece to bid on their behalf up to a maximum amount specified for each lot. Masterpiece staff will attempt to execute an absentee bid at the lowest possible price taking into account the reserve price. If identical bids are received from two or more parties, the first bid received by Masterpiece will take priority. The auctioneer may execute absentee bids directly from the rostrum. Absentee Bids Forms are available in this catalogue.Absentee bids submitted on “no-reserve” lots will, in the absence of a higher bid, be executed at the amount of the bid.

TELEPHONE BIDSProspective buyers may bid by telephone during the course of the auction. Arrangements for this service must be confirmed with the Bid Department at least 2 hours prior to the auction. Telephone bids may be recorded. By bidding on the telephone, prospective buyers consent to the recording their conversation. Masterpiece will not be responsible for errors of failures to execute bids.

SUCCESSFULL BIDSThe fall of the auctioneer’s hammer indicates the final bid, at which time, the buyer assumes full responsibility for the lot.

CONDITIONS OF SALE FOR BUYERS Together with the terms as set out in “INFORMATION FOR BUYERS”, These Conditions contain all terms in which a buyer contracts with a seller in respect of the sale of a Lot. These terms may be amended at any time by way of notices or oral announcements during the sale and auction. The buyer agrees to be bound by these Conditions when he/she bids to purchase a Lot.

1. Meanings In these terms and conditions, the following words and expressions have the following meanings:

“Buyer” means the successful bidding buyer of a Lot;

“Catalogue” means the Catalogue prepared by Masterpiece which describes and illustrates all Lots for sale by Masterpiece;

“Conditions” means these terms and conditions;

“Hammer Price” means the price at which a Lot is sold to Buyer;

“Lot” means each piece of property as described in the Catalogue for which bids are invited for purchase;

“Masterpiece”, “our”, “we”, “us” means Masterpiece Auction sdn. bhd;

“Reserve Price” means in respect of a Lot, the minimum price which the Seller is prepared to accept from a buyer;

“Seller”, means in respect of a particular Lot, the seller of that Lot and his personal representatives;

“MYR” means the lawful currency of Malaysia.

Except where the context otherwise requires, words importing the singular shall include the plural and vice versa, words importing any one gender shall include all genders, and words importing persons shall include companies and corporations and vice versa. Unless otherwise stated, references to Clauses are references to Clauses in these Conditions. The headings appearing in this Agreement are inserted for ease of reference only and shall in no way define, limit or construe the terms and conditions appearing herein.

2. Parties to the sale of a Lot Unless otherwise stated, a Buyer contracts with a Seller to purchase a Lot.

Masterpiece acts as the Seller’s agent in respect of the sale of a Lot.

3. Bidding (a) Registering. Prospective buyers are required to register for a numbered bidding

paddle. Copies of bank accounts may be required to be shown to Masterpiece for credit references and/or payment purposes.

(b) Reserve. Unless otherwise stated, all Lots are offered for sale, subject to a Reserve Price which is confidential between the Seller and Masterpiece. Bids may be placed by representatives of Masterpiece on behalf of the Seller up to the Reserve Price. There is no obligation on Masterpiece to identify bids placed on behalf of a Seller.

(c) Types of bids. Bids may be accepted from those present at the auction and from telephone bidders, or by absentee written bids left with Masterpiece prior to the auction. By bidding by telephone, all prospective buyers consent to the recording of all conversation and bids.

(d) Currency. Prices of all Lots are in Ringgit Malaysia and all bids shall be made in Ringgit Malaysia.

(e) Final bid. The fall of the auctioneer’s hammer indicates acceptance of the final bid, at which time the Buyer enters into a full valid and binding contract with the Seller to purchase the Lot. The results of absentee bids will be notified to the prospective buyer after the auction. Risk and responsibility of the Lot (but not title) pass to the Buyer seven calendar days from the date of the sale or earlier if full payment is made and delivery made to the Buyer.

(f) Buyer’s responsibility. When bidding, a prospective buyer accepts personal responsibility to pay the Hammer Price of the Lot for which he bids if he is successful, together with the premium price of 12% (twelve percent) of the hammer price.

4. Limited warranty(a) No warranty. Neither the Seller nor Masterpiece makes any warranty in respect

of the description of any Lot, its value or its quality. Save for the limited warranty set out in this Clause 4(b) below, the Buyer purchases a Lot “as is” without any representation or warranty of any kind by Masterpiece or the Seller. The contents of the Catalogue are statements of opinion only and do not constitute any representation or warranty whatsoever in respect of any Lot.

(b) Limited warranty. The Seller and Masterpiece only warrant that the Lot is related to the artist named in its description in the Catalogue. In the event of any allegation of lack of authenticity or forgery, the Buyer is required to notify Masterpiece in writing within a period of 30 days (the “Notice”) from the date of auction.

(c) Contents of Notice. The Notice shall include written evidence from a reputable independent expert who is able to show that the Lot is a forgery. Masterpiece or the Seller reserves the right to request for further evidential proof from other experts if in their respective opinions either of them is not satisfied with the finding of the Buyer’s expert.

(d) Refund. In the event that Masterpiece is satisfied with the evidence as enclosed in the Notice and subject to (i) receipt of the full refund from the Seller and (ii) the return of the Lot in such condition as it was sold, a refund of the purchase price for that Lot will be made to the Buyer. The liability of Masterpiece and the Seller is limited to the purchase price of such Lot. Neither Masterpiece nor the Seller shall be liable for any other damages, costs and expenses that may be incurred in presenting the Notice.

(e) Conflict of opinion. In the event of conflict of opinion between the Buyer’s expert and the expert appointed by Masterpiece or the Seller, or if it can be shown that tests of authenticity would involve scientific process which could damage or otherwise jeopardize the condition of the Lot and which scientific process did not exist at the time of the publication of the Catalogue, no refund will be made of the affected Lot.

(f) No assignment of Limited Warranty. The Limited Warranty in this Clause 4 is for the benefit of the Buyer only and cannot be assigned to any third party.

5. Payment, Title and Collection of purchases(a) Deadline for payment. All payments for sold Lots must be made within seven

calendar days from the date of sale.(b) Title. No title in the Lot will pass to the Buyer until all amounts due to Masterpiece

as stated in Clause 3(f) above have been paid, even in circumstances where Masterpiece has released the Lot to the Buyer before full payment has been made.

(c) Payment modes. Payments must be in Ringgit Malaysia and may be made intelegraphic transfer to Masterpiece’s bank account. Please include the Buyer’sname and invoice number in the bank instructions.

(d) Collection. The Buyer is required to collect his purchase from the

premises of Masterpiece and pay for all delivery and shipping costs. Masterpiece may assist the Buyer in making packing and shipping arrangements at the Buyer’s own costs and risk.

(e) Storage charges. All purchases will initially be held for collection at the premises of Masterpiece at no charge for a period of fourteen days from the date of sale. Subsequently Masterpiece will charge the Buyer storage charges, together with all other transport, handling, removal, insurance and other expenses where a Lot is transported to another location pending collection.

(f) Limit on insurance cover. Masterpiece provides general insurance cover for sold Lots for a period of up to seven days from the date of sale of such Lots. Subsequently, risk of such Lots will transfer to the respective Buyers.

6. Non-payment Where a Buyer fails to make payment with cleared funds within the stipulated time,

Masterpiece and/or the Seller shall be entitled, in addition to all other rights and remedies available under the law, to :-(a) charge default interest at the rate of 1.5% per month on the outstanding

sums due from the Buyer;(b) to commence legal proceedings against the Buyer for recovery of all

outstanding sums, including interest, legal fees, costs and other expenses on a full indemnity basis;

(c) rescind the sale of the Lot;(d) to resell the property on such terms as they deem fit and to set-off the

proceeds of sale against the outstanding sums unpaid by the Buyer;(e) to hold the Lot as security; pledge or lien pending payment of all

outstanding sums due from the Buyer.

7. Copyright The copyright in all images, illustrations and literature, including the Catalogue is

the property of Masterpiece and shall not be used by the Buyer without the prior written consent of Masterpiece. No warranty is made by Masterpiece and the Seller that the Buyer of a Lot shall acquire any intellectual property rights in it or to reproduce it.

8. Miscellaneous(a) Notwithstanding anything stated in these Conditions, the Buyer shall indemnify

Masterpiece and the Seller on a full indemnity basis, in respect of any loss, damage, cost or expense that may be incurred by either the Seller or Masterpiece in respect of any breach by the Buyer of these Conditions.

(b) If any part of this agreement is found by any courts to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that part may be discounted and the rest of the agreement shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.

(c) Masterpiece will hold Buyer’s personal data and may communicate it to affiliated companies worldwide for the purposes of enabling the Buyer to consign or purchase property or services and, unless the Buyer objects, advising of forthcoming sales, events and service.

(d) These Conditions are subject to Indonesia law, which shall apply to its construction as well as to its effect.

(e) Where a translation of this agreement has been provided, the English language version shall prevail in case of conflict.

Born in Sarawak, Rapheal Scott Ah-beng is one of the most renowned abstract art-ists from Borneo. Educated in the Bath Academy of Art, UK, Rapheal is known for his distinctive and recognisable style through his signature brush strokes and vivid colour. This unique pal-ette and brush stroke allows the artist to explore the subtle tonal variations which makes up the abstract landscape, a fusion of what is real and imaginary to the artist. This has won him rec-ognition as he has received First Place for the Sawarak Shell Open art competition in 1959, 1982, and 1983.

Ahmad Shukri graduated with a Bachelor of Degree in Fine Arts from the presti-gious Mara Institute of Technology (UiTM) in 1992 and it did not take long his talents to be noticed as he won both the first prize for Malaysia Art Open, Petronas Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur and Watercolour Competition “Selangor’s Oldest Mosque”, Shah Alam Art Gallery, Selangor in 1994. A founding member of Matahari, Ahmad Shukri has held solo exhibitions such as “Ahmad Shukri”, Art Salon, Kuala Lumpur (2002), “Boy & Girl”, Gallery Taksu, Kuala Lumpur (2003), “Virus”, Art Seasons, Singapore (2005), and “Fitting Room”, XOAS Gallery, Petaling Jaya (2012).

Born in Penang, Alex Leong is currently a member of the Malaysian Waterco-lour Society (MWS), Penang Watercolour Society, Penang Art Society, and North Kedah Art Society. Having a keen eye on the everyday life, it is Alex’s take on the quotidian life which he gives a refreshing breathe of life to that makes the mundane seem joyous. Alex Leong has been participating in exhibitions since 1995 and the notable ones include “Artist Favourite”, National Art Gallery (2007), Art Expo Malaysia, Incheon Global Cities Arts Exchange Exhibition (Korea), and MWS Annual Exhibition.

Harun Mokhtar graduated with a diploma in Fine Art from University Technology Mara (UiTM) in 1987 where he won the Major Award in the Young Contemporary Artists competition. Harun is known for his distinctive style of art which captures Malaysia’s rich multi-cultural traditions. Harun Mokthar’s works usually consists of three parts; the top, a culturally rich heritage building, the bottom, people going about their daily lives, and the middle, a band of colour separating the two. Kwan Chin attended the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore where he learned the traditional media including charcoal, watercolour, and oils. Dr Foo Yong Kong graduated from Malaysia Art Institute in 1970 majoring in oil and Chinese ink paintings. Since 1972, he spent more than a decade abroad drawing inspirations and refining his art. Dr Foo has had numerous group and solo exhibitions around the world; amongst them are the Binnual Exhibitions in Italy (2003), Tokyo (2004), Korea (2005), and Beijing (2005). Presently, Dr Foo is the president of the Malaysian Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association. The signature style of Dr Foo incorporates both Eastern and Western philosophies into a distinctive yet harmonious art form. His artwork mostly is based intrinsically on the elements of wind and water; his paintings have demonstrated the interactions of ‘qi’ (unseen inner essence) with different natural land masses like mountains, forest, seas. Practicing abstract-expressionism over the years, his paintings have evolved from a representational arrange-ment to a much spontaneous form reflecting the artist’s thought and emotions.

Ismail Latiff graduated from the Mara Institute of Technology in 1979. In the same year he won the Frank Sullivan Award in the Graphic Art section of the Salon Malaysia orga-nized by the National Art Gallery. Ismail Latiff started his career in the advertising industry before becoming a full-time artist in 1986. Ismail Latiff’s works tend to have a connection with the viewer with his drip painting technique and colour palette tend induce a dream like state when stared at. A common motif found in Ismail Latiff’s work is a perfect circle in the center. According to the artist himself, the circle is a symbol of perfection and balance.

Born in 1974, Kedah, Fauzul Yusri graduated from University Institute of Technology Mara (UiTM) in 1999. Fau-zul is a very talented artist. At the first glance, his paintings seem to be naive, but it is not. Each of Fauzul’s painting focuses on a specific aspect of art formalisim. In the Guris se-ries, he focuses on the significance of lines; in the Play series, he explores the focal point of a subject and in the Ground series on the texture and the surface of a canvas. He has been exhibiting in various galleries in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK. Fauzul also has six solo exhibitions to his name, the most recent being ‘Guris’ (2011) and ‘Coreng’ (2013). Born in Penang in 1941. Hon Fatt is a self-taught artist who mainly works on oil and watercolour painting. He is an Impressionist painter who works with his own unique style; while other impressionists emphasize the changing qualities of light, Hon Fatt choses to capture the best moment of a scene. Lights played an important part in his painting as he enjoys seeing how the rays interact with his subject matter. In 1965, Hon Fatt had his first solo exhibition and numerous group exhibitions across the region including Osaka (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand) and Frankfurt (Germany). In 2012, Penang State Art Gallery honours Hon Fatt a retrospective exhibition celebrating his lifetime achievement.

Muhammad Rojana Udomsat is a Thai artist known for his artistic creations in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. Rojana grad-uated from the Pho Chang Art College in 1992 and after working in the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University, in 1996 he helped the Siam Art Museum organise and promote art. Rojana has since been instrumental in promoting Thailand’s art and brought together the Southern Art Group to promote it. Born in Bandung, 28 October, 1959. He graduated from STSRI/ASRI Yogyakarta. He has joined in several group exhibitions in Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta since 1979. Formerly he paint in expressionism style but later on he turned his painting styles into decorative. His object of painting are the daily lives scene and landscape of paddy fields usually found in Indonesia, especially in West Java. His distinctive characteristics can be

seen in the detail strokes of the grass or paddy texture. Some of his famous objects are paintings of cliff, shepherd, and harvest scenes. His works have been collected by art collectors from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Germany and French.

He was born in Ngawi, East Java, 1912, with the name of Koempoel Sujatno. He studied painting from the Dutch painter Gerard Pieter Adolfs and Willem Van Der Does. He was one of the most productive artists, but since many of his paintings have been damaged, lost and spread out in countries abroad, his works are estimated only around 2500. Koempoel was an artist who preferred outdoor objects, anything under the sun, so that almost his works presented bright colors in harmony that revealed a graceful enchantment. He died on August 18, 1987 in Batu, East Java because of his severe throat cancer.

He was born in Canton, China, 1913. He arrived at Singapore at young age then later moved to Jakarta. He has shown great artistic talent since young. He participated in the Association’s First Art Exhibition invited by the head of the Dutch East Indies Associations (1931). Lee Man Fong was a successful commercial artist before engaged in full time painting in 1941. His successful exhibitions in Bandung and Jakarta made him a fast growing artist at that time. He received scholarship from the Dutch government to study painting in Holland (1946). In 1952 he returned to Indonesia and gained more credits as well as acknowledgement. He was officially become a presidential palace’s painter and chief curators of its collection in 1961 and compiled a 5 volume edition of President Sukarno’s art collection. He died in 1988 and remembered as a western vigorous painter and an oriental unique oil painting painter.

Tan Choon Ghee is one of the best known watercolour artist in Malaysia. Born in 1930, he trained at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1951 and furthered his studies at the Slade School of Fine Arts, London in 1958. Tan was awarded two scholarships one from the West German Government and the other for television set design at the Australian Broadcasting Commission in Sydney. He worked as a chief set designer for Singapore television and later Hong Kong, before leaving to pursue a career as a full time artist in Malaysia. Specialising in Penang street life, Choon Ghee has been awarded two retrospectives, one by The Art Gallery, Penang (1992) and Penang State Art Gallery (2000), and given a tribute, A Tribute to Tan Choon Ghee, The Art Gallery Showroom (2001)

Chang Fee Ming is a self taught artist who’s unique and highly detailed watercolor paintings focuses on the ru-ral life, especially the bright colors and intricate patterns of the traditional textiles. Inspired by Lee Man Fong’s depic-tion of the life in Bali, Chang made his first trip to the village of Ubud where he was charmed by its beauty. Chang has since painted many paintings inspired by the Balinese cul-ture and was even rewarded with an exhibitions in the 8th Exhibition of the Asian Watercolour Confederation, Neka Art Musuem, Ubud, Bali. Affectionately known as the “Father of Malaysian Painting”, Mun Sen is one of those pioneer artists who influenced the birth and growth of modern and contempo-rary Malaysia art. Born in Kuching in 1896, Mun Sen went to Dabu County in Meizhou City, Guang-

dong Province in China for schooling in brush use and calligraphy. During his stay, Mun Sen witnessed a Japanese watercolour artist which amazed him left a lasting impression. In 1920, Mun Sen moved to Penang where he lived for the rest of his life. There, Mun Sen became the founding member of the Penang Chinese Art Club and helped set up the Singapore Society of Chinese artist in 1935. In 1937, Mun Sen proposed the setting up of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in which his proposal was accepted and NAFA was set up in 1938. Numerous solo exhibitions has been held posthumously in recognition of Yong Mun Sen’s contribution to Malaysian art and among them are Yong Mun Sen Memorial Exhibition, National Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur (1972), Yong Mun Sen – Father of Malaysian Paintings, The Art Gallery, Penang (1998), and Retrospective Exhibition, Penang State Art Gallery (1999).

Raden Soedjono Abdullah was born in Yogyakarta, 1911. He was the son of Abdullah Suriosubroto, a famous landscape painter and was also the brother of Basoeki Abdullah. He used to help his father cleaned the pallet from which he found his contenment to be a painter. He finished his school from HIS – Indonesian Dutch School and worked as a poster artist for the Rex Theater in Yogyakarta. During the Japanese colonization in Indonesia, Sudjono went to Parangtritis, Parangkusumo where he continued painting. During the 1970s, Soedjono moved to Kertosono in East Java, where he lived up to his death in the village of Pisang at Patian Rowo on 2 May 1993.

Agus Katro produced painting using a naïve decorative style. Until present his works have been collected by many art collectors in Indonesia as well as abroad.

He beginning painted of 20th century. Many Dutch expatriate interest with his painting, he was well known as landscape painter, and a stile painting “Mooi India”. His friend like a R Ab-dullah Suriosubroto (1878–1914), Wakidi (1889-1979), angd Mas Pringadi(1875-1936). They are “Mooi Indie”. He painted a great deal of Indo-nesian nature with tremendous command of light and shade, image river, jungle and many activity people who lived in village.

Daeng is born in Bandung, West Java, 16 February, 1959. Daeng had a passion in drawing since he was a small child. In 1992, he joined ISI and partici-pated in nine group exhibitions located around Bandung. In 1994, he won a na-tional painting competition in Borobu-dur and during the year of 1996 he par-ticipated in a group exhibition at ITB Art Fair and received an award from ASEAN. From 2002 to 2010 he has performed group exhibition with 3 other artists at Hotel Papandayan in Bandung, another group exhibition with 5 other artists at Hotel Panghegar, Bandung; as well as an exhibition in Meda Prada Gallery Jakarta and an exhibition in Jambore Ancol. Born in Zaandam, the Netherlands, 1916. He was a student of the Academy of Arts in Rotterdam before working as lithographer for the Dutch Colonial Army in the Dutch Indies prior to the Second World War. He moved to Bali in 1956 to engage in full time painting and became an Indonesian Citizen, produced as well as taught painting at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Many of his paintings depict the nature of his surrounding environment. He had several solo exhibitions in Bandung Institute of Technology, The Honolulu East West Center, and the Center of Strategic and International Studies in Jakarta. He received the “Dharma Kusuma” art awards from the local government of Bali.

He was well known as a landscape painter.

Born in Baigong, from the province of Guangdong, Chen Wen Hsi studied art at the Xinhua College of Art in Shanghai where he was thought by renowned artists such as Pan Tianshou. After moving to Singapore in 1948, Chen Wen Hsi proceeded to teach at the Chinese High School (1914-1968) and then the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (1951-1959). As an artist, Chen Wen Hsi actively participated in several exhibitions outside Singapore which incidentally promoted Singapore. Among the many awards he has received are the Public Service Star (1964), a Gold Medal by the National Museum of History, Taiwan (1980), the first recipient of the ASEAN Cultural and Communication Award for outstanding artists (1987), and an honorary doctorate from the National Uni-versity of Singapore. Chen Wen Hsi is Singapore’s pioneer artist that combines Chinese and Western techniques in his semi abstract work. His constant eagerness to strive for something new led him to learn finger painting, a technique that dates back from the Tang Dynasty. This drawing style has enabled him to produce unpredictable broken strokes on paper. Chen Wen Hsi is renowned for his skills in depicting animals, of which it is the gibbons that he is most associated with. It is Chen Wen Hsi’s mastery of the gibbons that led it to be commemorated on the 50 Singapore Dollars note.

陈文希1906年生于中国广东省揭阳县一户大家庭。1948年移居新加坡,1975年荣获新加坡大学校长授予荣誉博士奖,1992年逝于新加坡。陈文希童年在乡野里度过,让他有更多机会向许多有趣、美丽的事物探索和追寻,孕育了他对绘画的热爱。中学毕业后到上海美术专科学校专攻美术,后因故转校新华艺术专科学校,受教于潘天寿等名师, 四年后,往汕头中学教美术,还组织春阳画社,教导有志于艺术的年轻人。陈文希年轻时期便展现其艺术天分,先后在汕头、广州、香港、上海等城市举行个展;1937年在南京举行的中国第二次全国美展,更受到徐悲鸿的赏识和赞扬,同年,英国画室杂志所刊选的当代中国十大画家作品中,他也被列为之一。 1948年,见有人到南洋办画展成功,逐心动而远道下南洋,本打算逗留三个月,未料就此定居下来,先后任教于华侨中学、南洋美专,逢假期闲暇便往东南亚各地旅行,收集画材,其中又以峇里岛和爪哇的民土风情,让他灵感充沛。陈文希以他独特的中西结合的画风,奠定了他在国际艺坛上的基础。在他诸多作品中,以猿猴和鹭鸶为其代表佳作。为了画猿猴,他在家里庭园豢养六只猿猴,朝夕摹形写状,及至后来,单从猿猴的跳跃、追逐、翻腾等动作,他便能道出猿只的产地,而其它如画鱼、鸟,他也如此朝夕观察作画,其认真作画精神,由此可知。 1975年,新加坡大学为了表扬他对美术的贡献,特别颁发以“名誉博士”荣衔,为首位当地画家获得此荣誉。此外,1964年,他获得新加坡总统尤索夫授予公共服务勋章,1980年得台湾历史博物馆颁发金章,1987年则得亚细安文化及传播奖。

Liu De Zhou began his artistic journey under the tutelage of Zhangren Zhi before enrolling in the Beijing Art Academy in1977. Liu is known as a Chinese contemporary free-hand landscape artist whose modern take on Chinese paintings focuses on minimal, thick bold strokes. Liu’s bold, modern take on Chinese ink has earned him critical acclamation amongst art critics and collectors and has enable Liu to exhibit regularly both in China and internationally. Liu’s works has been exhibited in venues such as the Beijing Art Academy (1985), World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Davos Switzerland (1993), New Delhi Asian Triennale, India (2001), and the French Painting and Watercolour Art Salon, Paris, France (2002). Liu’s contribution to Chinese paintings is well documented and a number of publi-cations have been made including the Chinese Contemporary Artists Paintings – Liu Zhou, Zhou Works, and Liu Zhou - Selected Works. Liu is a member of the Beijing Artists Associa-tion, Chinese National Artists Association, and a director of the Malaysia Calligraphists & Artists Association.

Born in 1913, ZheJiang (China). Master Zhu Mo moved to Pen-ang in 1953. Besides being one of the greatest Buddhist dharma master, Zhu Mo was also a talented artist, calligrapher and poet. He is best known as the abbot of the Triple Wisdom Sanctuary in Penang, also the founder of the Malaysia Buddhist Association. He devoted his whole life to Bud-dhist education and promoting Mahaya Buddhism in Malaysia. His love for painting is evident thought his lyrical style of Chinese Brush paintings.

吕介文乃马来西亚著名水墨画画家及教育家，自幼就对绘画艺术产生浓厚的兴趣，并誓志成为一名画家。青年时期进入新加坡南洋美专就读，1956年以优秀的成绩毕业。1961年，在著名画家钟正山的推介下，出任森美兰州芙蓉中华中学美术主任。这个职位，他一做就是37年，直至于1988年逝世为止。几十年来的教学工作，他尽心尽力，努力不懈地培育后进，经常带学生到吉隆坡参加绘画活动，不辞劳苦地推展绘画艺术，一并带起了芙蓉的艺术风气。吕介文的作品曾经在新加坡、台湾、韩国、日本及中国等地展出，让人留下深刻印象，其1987年的杰作《空山灵水》（Amidst Nature’s Solitude），基于在传统中国水墨画的技巧与意境创作方面取得突破性的进展，而荣获1988年度“北京国际水墨画展”大奖，轰动一时。只可惜英年早逝，遗留人间的画作并不多。至于吕介文在水墨画方面的成就，中国西安美院国画系教授孙宜生写道：“我深感吕先生的系列作品在吕先生五十四年的生涯中，如同那幅神秘画境中闪耀的白光，具有永恒而醒目的生命力。吕先生是南洋风艺术的杰出者，水墨画中的空灵追求使他在中西融汇中，达到了一个前人没有的地步。”

Bo Yuan calligraphy and paintings has been hailed as more people book Zen harmony unity. To acknowledge his great achievement in art two tombstones were elected on 1991 and 1992 subsequently, entitled “God of ink” and “Poetry God”. In 2000, Malaysia National Art Gallery features his solo.

Born in 1970 in Klang, Selangor, Yap Chin Hoe has been a full time artist since he graduated from the Malay-sian Institute of Arts in 1991. Chin Hoe’s artistic talent was apparent from a young age, having spent a great deal of time in learning European and American art, he embarked on an experimental journey with oil and acrylics in the later years. Chin Hoe has won many awards which included a first prize in an art competition held in in conjunction with Estee Lauder Breast Awareness Campaign 1996. The poetic still-life paintings by Yap Chin Hoe, has positively contributed towards enriching the Malaysian art scene today.

Lee Weng Fatt captures the rich and unique archi-tectural and cultural heritage which are slowly disappear-ing form our lives. Known for illustrating the tremendous beauty and grandeur that exists in historical buildings, Lee Weng Fatt first started out as a watercolourist until he de-cided to change to oils in 1995. Lee Weng Fatt received his formal artistic training at the Kuala Lumpur College of Art and is currently a full time artist who his works are exhibit both locally and internationally. In the words of former Cul-ture Minister, Dato’ Dr Rais Yatim, “Weng Fatt can revitalize Malaysian heritage and can change the mindset which un-fortunately currently puts modern progress over heritage”.

Ismadi Sallehudin graduated with Bachelors in Fine Arts from Mara Institute of Technology (UiTM) in 1994 and subsequently he obtained his Masters in Art and Design from De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom in 1999. After gradu-ating, Ismadi remained active in academic work and has held positions such as Head of Programme, Kolej Shahputra-UiTM (2008), Deputy Dean, University College Shah-putra, Pahang (2011) and he served as Dean of Faculty of Fine Art, Akademi Seni Budaya & Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA), Kuala Lumpur. The expression of colours are very important to Ismadi. His works are accidental in the sense that he uses dif-ferent techniques like scratching on the canvas, splashing of colours, quick strokes of the brush strokes, spontaneous brush flow and combinations of other techniques to produce on the artworks. His works have been exhibited extensively both locally and internationally.

Kuo Ju Ping was one of the pioneering batch of stu-dents of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore in 1941. His education was interrupted by the Japanese Occupation of Malaya in which he returned to Penang to assist with his father’s business. During his free time, Kuo would provide free tuition for art students and among his students is the late Tan Choon Ghee. In Penang, Kuo started the Penang Chinese Art Club in 1936 and Thursday Art Group in 1957. He was accorded a memorial in 1997 with a solo exhibition A Tribute to Kuo Ju Ping, The Art Gallery, Penang.

Jaafar Taib is a prominent artist, cartoonist, and caricaturist. Jaafar’s rise began when he created the cartoon magazine Gila-Gila which soon after became the most popular cartoon magazine in Malaysia. As an artist, Jaafar is equally accomplished having participated in numerous exhibitions since 1983 including Open Exhibition, National Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur (1986), Central Bank of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (1999), and Royal Belum Exhibition, Pamerian Simposium Hutan Julan Tropika Antarabangsa ( 2006) and have held solo exhibitions such as July Feast Exhibition, Taman Negara Resort, Pahang (1993), Malaysian Petroleum Club, Menara Daya Bumi, Kuala Lumpur (1993), and On Wings of Inspiration, Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur (1996). Jaafar Taib is known for his paintings of birds has painted for numerous elites and royalties and his works are in the collection of establishments such as Ambank Gallery and the Parliament.

Peter Harris was the first art superintendent in Malaya from 1951 to 1960 and was a pioneer in art education in Malaysia. Peter was instrument in the development of Malaysian art as he not only facilitated potential artist to further their art education in Brit-ain, he was also the founder of the Wednesday Art Group, whose members include Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Dzulkifli Buyong, Dr Jolly Koh, Long Thien Shih, and Patrick Ng, to name a few. Peter graduated with a diploma from the West of England Art Academy in1939 and had a teaching stint at the Arts and Crafts Faculty in the College of Art School in Swindon in 1947 before coming to Malaya. Chia Yu Chian graduated from the famed Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore under the tutelage of Chen Wen Hsi who was teaching there at that time. He was the first artist from the straits settlement to receive a scholarship by the French government to study in the prestigious Ecoles Nationale des Beaux Arts at Paris (1959-1962). Having graduated both at the Nanyang School and Ecoles Nationale des Beaux Arts, it is Yu Chian’s abilityto switch between Eastern and Western palette that nas made him on the Malay-sia’s most sought after artist. Laxman Pai studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai before mov-ing to Paris to enroll in the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure Des Beaux-arts, where he met fellow Indian artist artists Sadanand Bakre, Syed Haider Raza, Francis Newton Souza, and Akbar Padamsee. After his training at the École, Laxman continued his stay in Paris for ten years in which he held ten solo exhibitions in the city and he participated in the Biennale de Paris (1961), the Tokyo Biennale (1963) and the São Paulo Biennale (1963). On his return to India, Laxman took up the post of the principal of the Goa College of Art in 1977 and served the institution until 1987 and he has been awarded the civilian honour of Padma Shri, awarded by the Government of India. Laxman’s works can be viewed at the Ben and Abby Grey Foundation, New York Public Library, Berlin Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Paris, Madras Museum, Nagpur Muse-um, National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and Punjab University Museum.

Lee Cheng Yong was born in China, where he studied art at the Sin Hwa Art Academy, Shanghai (Shanghai Academy of Fine Art). Lee later moved to Penang, Malay-sia, where he was instrumental in the development of Malaysian Art and was a teacher at Chung Ling High School, Penang. Lee specialized in oil paintings and he was also com-petent in watercolour, gouche, and oil pastle. Lee’s oil works were painted after the Post-Impressionist tradition of Gauguin and Van Gogh, but Lee was constantly experimenting with other forms of art as it progressed.

Lee Cheng Yong held 2 solo exhibitions, Philomatic Union, Penang, Malaysia (1932) and, Chin Kang Hoay Kuan, Penang, Malaysia (1960) and was posthumously award 2 exhibitions Lee Cheng Yong Retrospective Exhibition, Penang State Art Gallery, Malaysia (1996) and Lee Cheng Yong Memorial Exhibition, The Art Gallery, Penang, Malaysia (1996). Lee’s contribution to the Malaysia art scene continued when he established the Penang Chinese Art Club in 1935 and was elected its first president. His works are collected in among others, the Fukuoka Art Museum and the Singapore Art Museum.

Khalil Ibrahim was born in Kubang Krian, Kelantan and is one of the few Malaysians who received a state scholarship to attend the presti-gious Central St Martin School of Art and Design in London in 1965. Khalil is the co founder of the Malaysian Watercolour Society and was its vice chairman from 2002 to 2003. Awang Damit is one of the most recognized abstract expressionists in Malaysia. He graduated with honours from Mara Institute of Technology (UiTM) in Fine Arts in 1983 and was awarded the Best Student award that year. He then obtained his Masters in Fine Arts with the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. in 1988. Awang belongs to the second generation abstract expressionists in modern Malaysian art and has been lauded for his series Marista (2002) and Iraga (2011). In 1992, a work from his EOC series titled Farmer’s Song clinched the Painting Prize at the coveted 3rd Salon Malaysia and he also received Honourable Mention at the 1994 and 1995 Philip Morris Malaysia Art Awards. Born in 1936, Klang. Nai Tong studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1958. After graduating, he continued his studies in École Nationale Superieure des Beaux- Arts, Paris in 1968. During the stay in Paris, Nai Tong’s began to develop his own individual style – a sophisticate combination of Nanyang charm and Parisian elegance. He obtained the skills to paint using oil, which enabled him to build up a solid foundation for his future works. Ceaselessly promoting the richness in Malay-sian arts and culture into the international scene, Nai Tong is one of the few Malaysian artists who have contributed the history of Malaysian art. Ong Cheng Shui was born in Bogor, West Java in 1981. He is autodidact painter who found his great interest in painting since he was young. He has been actively involved in arts since 2000. He was born in in Surakarta, on June 21 1913. He learnt painting from Himpunan Budaya Surakarta (Surakarta Cultural Society) under Dr. Moerdowo in 1954. He took formal education in art at the Indonesian Fine Arts Academy (ASRI), Yogyakarta with his friend Lee Man Fong. Siauw Tik Kwie, also known as Otto Swastika, joined the Bataviasche Kunstring (Batavian Art Circle) when he moved to Jakarta at the end of the 1930s. There, he learned to paint from Dutch artists such as Jan Frank, Niemansverdriet and Henry van Velthuysen, and befriended artists such as Lee Man Fong. He held his solo exhibition in 1963 and joined several group exhibitions in many cities. Upon his return to Surakarta, Otto taught at Sanggar Pelangi. In 1950, he returned to Jakarta and published a series of comics titled Sie Jin Kui on the request of PK Ojong, one of the founders of the Kompas daily newspaper. The comics were based on Chinese martial art tales and published in the magazine Star Weekly from 1954 to 1961. In 1955, he and his artists friends established the Chinese Artists. Association called the Yin Hua and held numerous exhibitions locally and regionally. Siauw Tik Kwie continued to live in Jakarta until his death of aplastic anemia in 1988.

Born in Bandung, August 19, 1936. He graduated from ASRI Yogyakarta (1961) and lived in Bandung until now. Since 1965 he was active to participate in solo and joint exhibitions in Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali. Every year he had exhibition with Papilio Group in Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. In 1994 he had his solo exhibition in Folklore I, TIM, Jakarta and Folklore II, Topaz Hotel, Bandung.

During the Japanese colonialism in Indonesia, he received his army training for officer in the “Pembela Tanah Air” (Defenders of the country) in Bogor. During the Physical revolution, as a Major in the Indonesian Army, he took part in the Armed Struggle for the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. After the proclamation, Otto had an opportunity to study at the “Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten” in Amsterdam and at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, University of Amsterdam. He also had an opportunity of joining the study-tour of the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy and Swiss. Otto was a Vice Chairman of the Art Section of the Cultural Centre in Jakarta. He joined in the “Exposition le Grand Prix de Peinture en Monaco” in Monte Carlo and in Biennial Exhibition in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Lee Joo For was awarded a scholarship by the Malaysian government to study art at the Brighton College of Art. He received additional scholarships to further his studies at the Camberwell School of Art, followed by the Royal College of Art, which only accepts the most outstanding artist from England. Joo For was considered by many art critics as one of the leading graphic artist of Malaysia. He delves not only into painting but also into the practice of sculpture and the varied techniques of printmaking. His works have been collected by many museums and galleries in the United States, England, Australia, Italy, and other countries. Lee has had one man exhibitions at London Commonwealth Institute (1960), International Insti-tute, New York (1969), Kansas University (1969), and Washington Goodwind Mansions (1969). Zhao Wou-Ki was born in Beijing with family roots in Dantu, Zhenji-ang, Jiangsu province. In his childhood Zhao was brought back to his home-town Dantu where he studied calligraphy. From 1935 to 1941, Zhao studied painting at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province and in 1948, he went with his wife Lan-lan, a composer, to Paris to live on the same block in Montparnasse where the classes of Émile Othon Friesz took place. Zhao’s earliest exhibitions in France earned praise from Spanish masters Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso. During his stay in Paris, Zhao became acquainted with fellow artists Henri Michaux, Alberto Giavometti, Joan Miró and Maria Elena Vieira da Silva. In 1957, Zao decided to visit the United States where his younger brother Zhao Wu-Wai was living in Montclair, New Jersey, close to the art scene of New York City as Zhao wanted to learn more about the Andy Warhol’s “pop art”. In 1964, Zhao was awarded the French citizenship and his works were shown in a large retrospective at the Folkwang Museum in Essen, Germany in 1965. Zhao’s contribution to Chinese art did not stop despite his fame in Europe and during the 1970’s Zhao repeatedly went to China and produced a series of ink paintings following the Chinese traditions. During the 1990’, Zhao received numerous honorary doctorates and the Japanese Premi-um Imperial Award and his works were shown at large international exhibitions including the Vince Biennale in 1996.

Chin Wan Kee graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) in 1984 and received a Post Diploma from MIA in 1986. Wan Kee went on to further his studies and graduated with a Masters of Fine Art in Sculpture and Painting from the Academy of Art College in San Fran-cisco, California, United States in 1992. It gives the overview about the social class system in the country and social injustice in marital status. It evokes the idea of a man as leader to be fair and equitable as demanded in Islam and also preserving the dignity of women.

Born in 1972, Melacca’s very own Mohd Shaparel graduated with an Honours degree in Fine Arts from Uni-versity Science Malaysia (USM) in 1995. What started with Realism, Shaparel is now known as an Abstract Expres-sionist. His switch, which was startling to many including his ardent admirer, displays not only Shaparel’s growth as an artist but his versatility as well, which is rarely seen in today’s artist. Shaparel held his first solo exhibition, Pu-saka Rimba, Tuanku Fausiah Museum and Gallery, USM in 2007 and has gone on to hold three more solo exhibitions including, Natural Enviroment (2011), Beauty for Survival (2012), and Imbas Umbi (2014). In all, Shaparel has par-ticipated in over 20 group and solo exhibitions and his hard work have often been rewarded, the pinnacle being the Main Prize in the Young Talent Festival competition,

Penang in 1999. Known for its pleasing appeal and rawness in emotions, Shaparel has enjoyed much success with collectors as well. His paintings can be viewed in Bank Negara Malaysia, Balai Seni Lukis Sabah, Muzium dan Galeri Tuanku Fauziah, and Soka Gakkai Malaysia to name a few.

Norlisham bin Selamat graduated with a Di-ploma in Commercial Design from the Malaysian In-stitute of Art, Kuala Lumpur in 1989 and went on to further his studies with an Advance Diploma in Fine Art from the prestigious Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore (1990). Since graduation, Norlisham has been actively participating in group exhibitions throughout the region. From the Gaya 10, Benjamin Art Gallery, Singapore (1992), to Rupa Tampa Wajah, Citra Art Gallery, Jakarta, Indonesia (1995), and Es-sences (MIA Open Show), Petronas Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur (1995), Norlisham has participated in over 20 group exhibitions since. Kamarudin Kamali is a rising star in the Malaysian art scene, and according to many, a force to be reckoned with. With a deep underlying passion for arts, Kamarudin has been researching and experimenting with styles for almost two decades and has now settled on one he call his own. Inspired by Willem de Kooning, Kamarudin Kamali is an abstract expressionist whose brushstrokes are free forming and exudes the confidence of a true master. Kamarudin turned full time since 2010 and has gone on to win rave reviews, in-cluding a showcase at Balai Seni Lukis Negara in 2014. His works are enjoyed and collected by major corporations and private collectors both locally and internationally.

Dzul Afiq’s love for arts was instilled at a young age by his mother, who is an artist herself. He pursued his passion for arts and obtained a Diploma in Graphic Design and Multimedia from Limkokwing University in 2006 and Bachelor’s in Graphic Design Technology from Curtin Univer-sity, Australia in 2008. Along the way he won the Student Excellency Awards for both his final years. Having had stints with established creative agen-cies, it is in 2011 that Dzul Afiq decided to enroll for his Masters in Fine Arts from the prestigious Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) which he has graduated with the Bronze Award. It is in UiTM where Dzul Afiq established himself as a serious upcoming artist. Juggling between lecturing and studying, Dzul Afiq managed to find time to paint and it has not been without recognition. In the

space of two years, he has been invited to participate in no less than 9 exhibitions. The more notable ones include PWTC open exhibi-tion (2012) and 2 Man Show exhibition by Artiseri at Seri Pacific Hotel (2015) as Malaysia representative with Indonesian notable artist.

Awang Damit is one of the most recognized abstract expressionists in Malaysia. He graduated with honours from Mara Institute of Technology (UiTM) in Fine Arts in 1983 and was awarded the Best Student award that year. He then obtained his Masters in Fine Arts with the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. in 1988. Awang belongs to the second genera-tion abstract expressionists in modern Malaysian art and has been lauded for his series Marista (2002) and Iraga (2011). Dr Choong Kam Kow graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan in 1961. Not contented with a degree, Dr Choong fur-thered his studies gaining a Masters from Pratt Institute, New York, USA in 1968 and from the years 1980 to 1981, was made ACLS Fulbright Research Fellow, USA. Dr Choong is not only an artist, but an educationist and curator as well having taken up many educa-tional posts during his career. As an artist, Dr Choong has held many solo exhibitions throughout the world in venues such as Pratt Graduate Art Gallery, USA (1967), Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan (1991), Art Gallery University of Wolverhamption, UK (1994), Frederikshavn Art Museum, Denmark (1998), and Guangdong Museum of Art, China (2004) to name a few. Dr Choong’s works have not gone unnoticed as well, winning 1st prize for drawing and 2nd for watercolour for the Virginia Beach Art Show, USA Consulate award, USA (1967), and Minor prize in “Painting and Graphic Art Open Competition”, National Art Gallery, Malaysia (1977) and in 1980 was awarded MACEE-ACLS-Fulbright Hays Research Fellowship.

郑木奎，1939年生于新加坡，是新加坡著名画家，擅长描写渔村，田野风景，油画、水墨画和水彩画皆精。他的画曾在新加坡，马来西亚，香港等多地展出。他的个人创作由60年代始，特别是受到老师钟泗宾的抽象化构图的极大影响，即以书法线条、墨与色形成块状，互相交织、组合与留白所形成的立体结构构图。其70年代后期作品，逐渐显现出自己的构图特点，船帆、建筑、动物、人物等常以片状的色块表现，形成非常“郑木奎”式的景物特征。

Tay Bak Koi was a second generation Singaporean artist famous for his portrayals of fishing villages, kampong scenes and buffaloes. Tay’s talent for drawing was originally discov-ered by his father’s friend, who then enrolled him at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1957 where he studied under first generation Singapore artist Cheong Soo Pieng. His works have been extensively exhibited in Singapore and internationally, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, Japan, The United States, and Germany and in 1970 he was commissioned to pro-duce some 300 works for the Hilton Hotel in Singapore. Tay Bak Koi is arguably most famous for his Buffalo, constructed by a basic cut-out shape with a large humped body, small legs and a horned head.

Awang Damit is one of the most recognized abstract expressionists in Malaysia. He graduated with honours from Mara Institute of Technology (UiTM) in Fine Arts in 1983 and was awarded the Best Student award that year. He then ob-tained his Masters in Fine Arts with the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. in 1988. Awang belongs to the sec-ond generation abstract expressionists in modern Malaysian art and has been lauded for his series Marista (2002) and Iraga (2011). In 1992, a work from his EOC series titled Farmer’s Song clinched the Painting Prize at the coveted 3rd Salon Ma-laysia and he also received Honourable Mention at the 1994 and 1995 Philip Morris Malaysia Art Awards. Dato’ Alex Chai Boon Chin is an advisor of the Malaysian Chinese ink painting associa-tion and his wife Datin’ Alice Tan Bua Tian is an active member of the same association. Building consult and advisor by profession, the couple learned Chinese art painting under the tutelage of 8 famous masters, Prof Zhong Zheng Chuan, Dr Cheah Thien Soong, Kerk Woon Hoo, Siao In Shien, Su Pao Chien, Lee Yong He, Lai Tiew Seong and Sim Yong Keong. Having acquired the technique, the couple has set themselves different subject matter in which Dato’ Alex special-izes in painting portraits, celebrations, and ancient characters while Datin’ Alice paints flowers, fruits, and fishes. Painting for a noble cause, the couple not only set up a gallery to provide free Chinese art painting classes for the public, but they actively donate their paintings for charity purposes, raising funds to donate to needy Chinese primary schools and charities since 2007. From 2011 to 2015, in just for years, Dato’ and Datin’ Alex has donated more than RM 2,800,000 to Chi-nese schools and associations as they continue to live by their motto “painting for charity brings satisfaction”

拿督蔡文清与夫人拿汀陈美赬（1955-）是马来西亚著名慈善画家，蔡文清现为马来西亚水墨画协会顾问以及马来西亚草堂门金石书画会顾问，而陈美赬则是马来西亚水墨画協会会员以及马来西亚草堂门金石书画会会员。2007年，这对专业为建筑师的夫妇开始重燃绘画的热情，并重拾水墨画毛笔，开始向多位著名的画家认真地学习水墨画，包括钟正川、谢添宋、郭温和、萧应全、沈永强、苏保全、李永和、黎潮湘等。蔡文清将名人朋友画成喜爱的古代人物充作慈善义卖，有关人物主题多姿多彩，可选择骑马图、十八罗汉、孝子图、寿星公或关公等，而陈美赬蔡则义画她专长的山水花鸟、本地水果等水墨画。他们通过绘画作品，筹募资金捐赠予有需要的华小与慈善机构。从2011至 2015年短短四年里，他夫妇俩共为学校和体育组织筹获超过284万令吉的义款。他们夫妇俩向来挂在嘴边的口头禅是：“绘画行善让我最富足。”

He hels his first exhibition in 1962, and has since won a number of awards from art institutes in Malaysia, Singapore, and Tai-wan. Cheah Thien Soong served as a lecturer at the Malaysian Institute of Art in Kuala Lumpur and he also returned to his hometown to found the Seremban Institute of Art. Cheah Thien Soong is the Nanyang Academy of Fine Alumni Association (MA) President, Negeri Sembilan Arts Association consultant, international Modern ink Painting affiliate, the International modeling artists Association (MA) members, and inter-national color ink painter affiliate.

Born in 1948, Penang, Cheng Haw-Chien’s interest in art has been nur-tured since his adolescence, learning Chinese brush painting and Western art form simultaneously. Haw-Chien pursued his love for art in Taiwan and Hong Kong after his secondary school and graduated from the National Chengchi University, Taiwan in 1974. After graduation, Cheng Haw-Chien toured South East Asia and Europe holding solo exhibitions to rave reviews. Cheng Haw-Chien has been appointed as the principle of Central Academy of Art, Kuala Lumpur, and in 1996, at the invita-tion of China Artist Association, China, he led a Malaysian artist delegation to Bei-jing, Shanghai, Hangchow, and Nanjing and held “Malaysian Art Exhibition” in the National China Art Gallery, Beijing, China. In 2010, Cheng Haw-Chien embarked on a Solo World Tour and in the same year was appointed as a lifelong art advisor to the NingBo Art Museum.

鄭浩千,出生於馬來西亞檳城。中學畢業後赴台灣深造,師事竺摩上人、趙少昂、劉太希,學習詩書畫。現任馬來西亞中央藝術研究院院長暨中國人民大學客座教授。長期從事教學及創作之餘,亦勤於學術研究及論文寫作。2010年受聘為中國寧波美術館終身藝術顧問。同年始舉辦〈浩水千山– 鄭浩千書畫國際巡迴展〉,至今已在许多城市成功展出。

韩美林（中国1936-），中国书画家、美术家。是第29屆奧運會的吉祥物福娃的设计者之一。韩美林是中国当代极具影响力的造型艺术家，在绘画、书法、雕塑、陶瓷、设计乃至写作等诸多艺术领域都有很高造诣，大至气势磅礴，小到洞察精微，艺术风格独到，个性特征鲜明，尤其致力于汲取中国两汉以前文化和民间艺术精髓，并体现为具有现代审美理念和国际通行语汇的艺术作品，是一位孜孜不倦的艺术实践者和开拓者。中国国家一级美术师，清华大学美术学院教授，中央文史馆研究员。2015年被授予“联合国教科文组织和平艺术家”称号。

丁庸衍，廣東茂名人。16歲開始學習繪畫。在茂名縣立中學畢業後，於1920年在叔父丁穎的資助下赴日留學，先後在川端畫學校、東京美術學校就讀。1925年學成返國，活躍於上海藝壇。先後任立達學園美術科、神州女學藝術科教授，中華藝術大學董事兼教務長、藝術教育系主任，1928年回廣州籌備市立美術博物館，任常務會美術部主任，兼任市立美術學校西畫教授。1932年赴上海，任教於新華藝術專科學校。1941年回粵後即往四川國立藝術專科學校教授西畫。1946年應聘為廣東省立藝術專科學校校長。1949年移居香港，以教畫為生。1956年起在新亞書院藝術專修科、藝術系任教。1961年兼任德明書院藝術系主任。1973年開始在香港中文大學校外進修部教授國畫直至逝世。曾多次在國內外舉辦作品個展和參加聯展。丁氏早年習西畫，1929年以後開始研習中國畫，並從事篆刻及美術理論撰述。去世後香港舉辦了丁衍庸遺作展、丁衍庸作品回顧展等，並設立有丁衍庸學業成績獎、丁衍庸藝術獎、丁衍庸畫會等。出版有《丁衍庸畫集》、《丁衍庸畫冊》、《丁衍庸的書畫

印章》(法文)等。

Ding Yanyong was a Chinese painter and calligrapher. He was born in China in 1902, and left in 1919 to study painting at the Tokyo College of Fine Arts. While in Japan, he developed an admiration for a western style of painting. Yanyong was influenced by Henri Matisse and Fauvist movement of the early 1900’s; he integrated western expressionism into a traditional Chinese style. He also found inspiration from seventeenth century Chinese artists Bada Shanren and Shi Tao. His style evolved into a modern inter-pretation of traditional Chinese techniques and subjects. Yanyong returned to China in 1925, where he promoted modern art and art education. Early in his career he worked in oil paints; producing works that more closely aligned to the Fauvists. His later paintings, however, are painted almost solely in Guohua (traditional Chinese painting media). In 1949, he moved to Hong Kong where he be-came active as a teacher and more eccentric with his use of guo-hua. He used this traditional ink medium while depicting modern and non-traditional subjects. In 1956, he founded an art course at the New Asia College (the predecessor of the Department of Fine Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong). He stayed on as a professor at the New Asia College until his death in 1978.

高马得(1917-2007)，江苏省南京市人。四十年代以漫画见称，多年从事新闻出版工作，六十年代醉心于中国戏曲，遂以中国画形式描绘戏曲人物，笔墨简练洒脱，形象生动传神，情趣妙生，耐人寻味。多次在中国国内外举办个展，由北京、上海、江苏、香港、台湾等地出版个人画册，出版了《画戏话戏》、《画碟余墨》、《马得水墨小品》等，获国务院专家待遇，并获漫画“金猴奖”，1993年在江苏省国画院离休。1999年出版个人大型画册。2007年因病去世。

黄尧，上海人，知名学者，对中国历史、文学、哲学和艺术均有很高造诣。同时黄尧也是一名广受欢迎的漫画家，1934年黄尧担任一名记者时，创作了著名的漫画人物牛鼻子。之后，连续创造了一系列脍炙人口的漫画作品和漫画人物。除了漫画意外，黄尧还广泛涉猎山水画、中国民俗化、书法等艺术领域。
