RINGKASAN

SUMMARY

Indeks Pengeluaran Perindustrian (IPP) bagi bulan Ogos 2009 menurun 5.7%berbanding bulan Ogos 2008, mengikuti penurunan tahun atas tahun 8.1%(pindaan) pada bulan Julai 2009. Penurunan pada bulan Ogos 2009 berpunca dari kejatuhan dua indeks: Pembuatan (6.6%) dan Perlombongan (5.5%). Walau bagaimanapun, indeks Elektrik mencatatkan peningkatan sebanyak 3.9%.

Bagi perbandingan bulan atas bulan, IPP menurun sebanyak 1.1%. Indeks kumulatif bagi tempoh Januari-Ogos 2009 merosot 11.2% berbanding tempoh yang sama tahun 2008.

The Industrial Production Index (IPI) in August 2009 decreased 5.7% as compared with August 2008, follows a 8.1% (revised) year-on-year decline in July2009. The drop in August 2009 was due to the decreases in the two indices: Manufacturing (6.6%) and Mining (5.5%). However, the index of Electricity posted an increase of 3.9%.

Month-on-month, the IPI decreased 1.1%.The cumulative index for the period ofJanuary-August 2009 declined 11.2% as against the same period in 2008.

Kejatuhan output Pembuatan berpuncadari penurunan dalam kumpulan ProdukKayu, Perabot, Keluaran Kertas, Percetakan (15.3%); Produk Elektrik danElektronik (15.1%); dan Makanan, Minuman dan Tembakau (5.3%).

The contraction of the Manufacturing output was due to decreases in the groups, Wood Products, Furniture, Paper Products, Printing (15.3%); Electrical and Electronics Products (15.1%); and Food, Beverages and Tobacco (5.3%).

Output Pembuatan bagi bulan Ogos 2009 merosot 6.6% berbanding bulan Ogos 2008. Output bagi bulan Julai 2009 menurun 11.3% (pindaan) berbanding bulan yang sama tahun 2008. Berbanding bulan sebelum, output Ogos 2009 meningkat 1.0%. Pertumbuhan bagi lapan bulan pertama tahun 2009 adalah lebih rendah sebanyak 14.8% berbanding dengan tempoh yang sama tahun lalu.

2. PRESTASI SEKTOR PEMBUATAN 2. PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING SECTOR

The Manufacturing output in August 2009 dropped 6.6% as against August 2008. Output for July 2009 went down by 11.3% (revised) as compared with the same monthof 2008. As compared with the precedingmonth, the output for August 2009 increased1.0%. The growth for the first eight months of2009 was lower by 14.8% as compared withthe same period of last year.

3. PRESTASI SEKTOR PERLOMBONGAN 3. PERFORMANCE OF MINING SECTOR

Output sektor Perlombongan menurun 5.4% pada bulan Ogos 2009 berbanding bulan yang sama tahun 2008. Kedudukan tersebut berpunca daripada kemerosotan indeks minyak mentah (6.6%) dan indeks gas asli (2.1%). Berbanding bulan sebelum, output Perlombongan menurun kepada 5.8%. Bagi tempoh lapan bulan pertama tahun 2009, sektor Perlombongan merekodkan penurunan 7.1% berbanding dengan tempoh yang sama tahun sebelum.

The output for the Mining sector fell 5.4% in August 2009 as compared with the same month of 2008. This was due to the decreases in crude oil index (6.6%) and natural gas index (2.1%). As compared with the preceding month, the Mining output decreased to 5.8%. For the first eight months of 2009, the Mining sector recorded a decline of 7.1% as compared with the same period a year ago.

4. PRESTASI SEKTOR ELEKTRIK

Output Elektrik meningkat 3.9% pada bulan Ogos 2009 berbanding bulan yang sama tahun sebelumnya. Berbanding bulan sebelum, output Elektrik merekodkan penurunan 0.8%. Kemerosotan 2.8% dicatatkan bagi tempoh Januari-Ogos 2009 berbanding tempoh yang sama tahun 2008.

4. PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRICITY SECTOR

The Electricity output increased 3.9% in August 2009 as compared with the same month a year earlier. As compared with the preceding month, the Electricity output posted a decrease of 0.8%. A decrease of 2.8% was registered in the period of January-August 2009 as compared with the corresponding period of 2008.
