Your Course facilitator/Trainer – Kent Chan

Kent has more than 25 years working experience in the construction industry. He was a construction/project manager for more than 8 years before he becomes a full-time independent construction planner since 1998.

Kent holds Diploma in Highway Engineering, Professional Diploma in Project Management, and Master of Science in Project Management. He is a Certified International Project Manager (CIPM); Certified Planning Engineer (CPE); Fellow of American Academy of Project Management (FAAPM); Currently he is the Malaysia Certified Planning Engineer (CPE) Chapter President Special Adviser in conjunction with the International Project Management Commission (IPMC).

Kent is the course facilitator and trainer in Primavera and Microsoft Project for a variety of clients, including construction contractors, Oil and Gas contractors, subcontractors and developers. This has contributed to the development of over hundreds of millions of dollars in construction projects. Some of these projects have included: Waste Water Treatment Plants, Manufacturing facilities, Infrastructure, Commercial Building, Bridges, Highways, Oil and Gas facilities, Institutional buildings. Kent also conducts educational seminars on CPM, Delay Claim Analysis, and Earned Value Analysis.

Kent works along with you in the class creating a live project through the stages of initiation, execution, monitoring and control.

CPE (CERTIFIED PLANNING ENGINEER) CERTIFICATIONThe intention of this designation is to recognize the analysts and professionals who meet a demanding requirements of planning and scheduling assets of experience, education, skill, knowledge and ethical qualification. The CPE requirement is to establish to recognize today's advanced planning & engineering professionals in the industry and to fairly measure their education, skill, experience and management practices.

1. Experience requirements for degree holder - at least six years of professional experience, of which up to 4 years maybe substituted by an accredited college/university degree. Related degrees include: engineering, building construction, construction technology, business, economics, accounting, construction management, project management, architecture, computer science, quantity survey, etc.

2. Experience requirements for not meeting the above mentioned degree requirement, of less than 6 years combined experience, application may become an associate CPE until he/she has attain the requirements as stated above. Related degrees/diplomas include: engineering, building construction, construction technology, business, economics, accounting, construction management, project management, architecture, computer science, quantity survey, etc.

3. To become CPE Certified or Associate CPE certified, he/she should have at least handled two projects in the field of planning, scheduling and control process in his/her discipline using Primavera and Microsoft Project and other related planning tools.

4. To become CPE Certified or Associate CPE certified, the applicant must submit his/her application including copy of college/degree certificate, work/education/training verification. In order to expedite the process of verification, the applicant may submit his/her documents to Kent Chan, the Malaysia CPE Chapter President Special Advisor in conjunction with IPMC for review. The final decision will depend upon Board approval, which will inform the applicant or through communications whether the applicant is successful in his/her application.

5. Certification fee is USD 300.00. Initial Certificate is good for 2 years and there is a nominal good standing fee after 2 years to remain a member.
