Reactions 1382 - 17 Dec 2011 Cetuximab Pustular folliculitis: case report A 46-year-old patient [sex not stated] with metastatic colon cancer developed pustular folliculitis during chemotherapy with cetuximab. The patient presented for the second antibody infusion 1 week after initiation of chemotherapy in combination with cetuximab [dosage and route not stated]. The patient reported developing a pruritic exanthema soon before presentation, which had since developed into an acneiform eruption. The eruption was worst on the nose, but also affected the patient’s back and chest. On examination, there was marked folliculitis of the nose and nasolabial folds, and less pronounced folliculitis affecting the rest of the patient’s face, interscapular back and upper chest; only few erythematous maculae were noted on the remainder of the trunk and extremities. The patient started receiving topical steroids for facial application, and a urea cream for application on the rest of the body. One cetuximab administration was held, and the drug was restarted after improvement of the patient’s skin symptoms. Weisshaupt Ch, et al. Adverse effects of new oncologic therapies.
