National Executive acknowledge the sudden death of our colleague, Agnes Masoe on September 20, 1993. Following her general nurse training in New Zealand, Agnes ventured to Melbourne to undertake her midwifery education at the Mercy Maternity Hospital. She then completed a degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (Advanced Nursing) leading on to a Master's degree. Agnes lectured at the Australian Catholic University in Melbourne prior to moving to Queensland in 1992 to accept a position as Lecturer, Griffith University. Agnes assisted with the planning of the 3 rd ICM Asia Pacific Pre-Conference Workshop and Regional Conference, March 1992. She was active in both the Victorian and Queensland Branches of ACMI and more recently held the post of Education Officer, Queensland Branch, and second Queensland delegate to the National Executive Committee. Agnes attended the 23rd ICM Congress in Vancouver in May 1993, where she presented a paper entitled gl Belief in Healing -- how come it is challenged?' Following the Congress, Agnes toured Canada with her mother. A funeral service was held in Brisbane on September 23, which many of her Queensland friends and colleagues attended. A memorial service was held in Melbourne at the Aus- tralian Catholic University Chapel, where many friends gathered to remember Agnes. Louise Sledzik presented the remembrance address and Lorraine Wilson, representing the ACMI National Executive read the Third Reading of the service. It was evident within the Chapel that Agnes had left many happy memories with her friends and colleagues - her personality, joy for life and her passion for nursing and midwifery will long be remembered. Mrs Masoe has stated her desire to establish a memorial to Agnes by creating a Research Fund - for research studies to be undertaken in Fiji.
