Ms Susan, Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
We would like to appreciate all parents and carers, who attended the 2017 Awards and Graduation Ceremony on Friday 17th November 2017. It was, indeed, a very memorable occasion for the award recipients and the graduating students. I would also like to congratulate the students involved in the choral speaking, dance and musical presentations for entertaining us so beautifully.
As the 2017 academic year draws to a close, and using the words from my welcome address on Friday:
Good morning to you all. It gives us great pleasure to welcome you here today to our annual Awards and Graduation Ceremony. We come together to recognise especial achievement and the graduating class of 2017.
Set in a High School of Performing Arts, this year’s School production, Fame Jr told the story of a group of students who committed to four years of artistic and academic work and graduated in 1984. The Fame students wanted to ‘Show the world that we can make it.’ To every student seated here today, you too have shown the world – the Tunku Putra world, your teachers, parents, family and friends - that you also can make it – you have progressed on your learning journeys, developing new knowledge, skills and understanding, raised the level of your achievement and continued to demonstrate our personal values in so many different ways.
Your reports, that you received last Friday, are written evidence of that progress and your achievement. The annual Year Book captures some special images of you involved in all aspects of your learning, as did the slides that we had the opportunity to view as we came in. Congratulations to you all for what you have achieved as part of your holistic development and well done for living up to our motto Kita Boleh!
For our Graduating Students in TK5 and Year 11 we especially commend your successful completion of the academic courses leading to SPM and IGCSE and wish you well as you continue to pursue your educational goals and realise your dreams and ambitions beyond Tunku Putra School. Like your predecessors, we trust that you will all be successful in securing places in higher education.
It is also befitting of this occasion to firstly acknowledge CMS Education’s commitment to securing the school’s future and a world class education for all students as it moves forward in partnership with the HELP Education Group.
Secondly, to appreciate all members of our staff, the Senior Management team, teaching and non-teaching staff for the commitment and dedication that they have shown throughout the year in ensuring students’ progress, development and success.
Also to value parents and carers for the support that you have given to the School and your children in 2017 as part of that strong and important parent partnership.
In looking ahead to the 2018 academic year:
The new academic year for 2018 will commence for students on Thursday 4th January 2018. We look forward as the Tunku Putra School family to continue that enriching and inspiring holistic journey in 2018 and to making our best better. As a source of inspiration, consider this quotation:
‘You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.’
In conclusion: I take this opportunity to wish you all a safe, restful, invigorating and enjoyable vacation and good health, happiness and peace in 2018.
I thank you all for your support over the last four years and believe that a quotation from the Awards and Graduation ceremony is a good reflection focus for me:
‘Don’t cry because it is over. Smile because it happened.’
My final words are for the students, who have taken so much time, thought and care to make some really special parting gift and cards. Thank you so much!
NP3 - AN ART LESSON

Education [Personal Values]
The objectives were directly and
indirectly derived as students
planned and created a model
house
learnt about 3-dimensional shapes
and the appropriate use of
different sizes
made good use of recycled
materials
wrote about the created model
house
presented a short description
about their model house to an
audience outside of the class
put into practice personal values
of cooperation, communication
and thoughtfulness
The students were actively engaged
and they had fun! As the teacher, the
students have done well and I am
proud of them.
