Hypercalcaemia: case reportA 20-year-old man with progeroid syndrome presented
with severe osteoporosis, and received weekly alendronicacid, calcium and vitamin D supplements. Eight monthslater, treatment was discontinued due to diarrhoea. Afterdeveloping a subcapital femoral fracture 6 months later, hestarted receiving SC teriparatide 20µg daily for 18 months.Within 1 month of starting teriparatide, he developedasymptomatic hypercalcaemia (10.7 mg/dL). Changes tohis treatment were not required, and 3 months aftercompleting teriparatide, his serum calcium levels hadreturned to normal.Iglesias Bolanos P, et al.
