“ We live in a world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”

— Jawaharial Nehru

BEST WORLDCRUISE EVER

Page 4: Silversea - 2017

GLOBAL TREASURES OLD AND NEWOn January 6, 2017, Silver Whisper will begin her epic world cruise. She’ll sail across San Francisco Bay and under the Golden Gate Bridge, a gleaming harbinger of wonderful things to come — tropical edens across the vast Pacific, smouldering Antipodean landscapes, Bali, Bangkok … and beyond to India, the kingdoms of the Persian Gulf, the antiquity of Egypt and Jordan, and a covey of Mediterranean treasures. By journey’s end, she’ll have called at 62 ports in 25 countries in 116 days.

But it’s not the length of the voyage or how many places you visit. It’s what you do once you arrive that is the true barometer of your voyage — the insider access and glimpses behind the scenes, the small-group excursions and private arrangements, the personal, close-up encounters that you experience … and the lasting memories they create.

When you cruise aboard a ship with only a few hundred fellow guests, you can connect more authentically with the lands you visit, exploring hidden corners and immersing yourself more fully in the lifestyle of the people. And you’ll be sailing with kindred travellers from around the globe, sharing their warm fellowship in an ambience of pampered elegance and privilege. May we also add that with six maiden ports of call, the 2017 world itinerary is our most unique and exotic ever. Come with us. The world awaits.

LONGER DAYS. MORE OVERNIGHTS. MORE TIME TO EXPLORE.Great cities, great wine regions, architectural spectacles both old and new — you’ll discover the iconic landmarks of a changing world as you sail the seven seas. Marvel at the meteoric rise of the skyscraper in Asia. Then step back in time to gilded shrines, colonial outposts, and water buffalo standing in rice paddies. Observe the dramatic contrasts — royal palaces peer over bustling thoroughfares, ancient temples stand next to mega shopping malls, oil-rich sheikdoms give way to pharoanic glories and Greek antiquity. And there are natural wonders, too — paradise islands in the South Pacific, lush rainforests and orangutans in Borneo, Arabian desertscapes and stunning Mediterranean rivieras. And with 21 late-night and overnight stays you’ll have the time to take it all in.

PACIFIC CROSSINGSet sail on a blue water voyage and set your sights on an array of Polynesian jewels. We’ll visit the Hawaiian Islands, America’s own paradise where echoes of kings and demigods drift across an azure sea, and orchids brighten the shadows of the rainforest while volcanoes rumble their discontent. It’s hard to imagine anything more beautiful until we encounter the Kingdom of Tonga. Come fall in love with Nuku’alofa – literally, “the Abode of Love,” with its authentic and compelling mix of centuries-old culture, history and traditions. And step ashore on the Samoan island of Upolu, an untouched masterpiece of pristine beaches, a dazzling marine ecosystem and delightfully intact fa’ Samoa way of life.

WORLD CRUISE EVENTS

WORLD CRUISE GALA AND HOTEL — We’re launching World Cruise 2017 with a pre-cruise overnight stay and gala bon voyage dinner at the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco. The service, the concierge, room service, the staff — everything is exceptional about this 5-star hotel — including the location. Enjoy a welcome oasis in the heart of the Yerba Buena cultural district, just steps from the Market Street trolley and two blocks from Union Square and the Museum of Modern Art.

SWING UNDER THE STARS — Hangar 37 at Pearl Harbor houses the Pacific Aviation Museum, a prize collection of pre- and post-war military aircraft. Join us for an evening of nostalgia as we relive, and if necessary, dance our way back to the 40’s. Early evening dinner will be served with a live dance band surrounded by historically significant airplanes, returning to Silver Whisper for dessert under the stars with the lights of Honolulu as a backdrop.

Auckland, New Zealand

THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDSCombine the languid allure of the tropics, big city sophistication and the spirit of Aloha, and it could only be Honolulu. This Pacific crossroads features museums, dazzling beaches, historic Pearl Harbor, and spectacular sunrises over Diamond Head. Then there’s Lahaina on Maui, “The Valley Isle”, and some say the most beautiful. Except, perhaps, for the Big Island of Hawaii, where snow-capped Mauna Kea can be seen from the town of Hilo, tropical growth is rampant, and rain feeds waterfalls and enough flowers to fill a rainbow.

SAMOALike a string of pearls, the nine islands of Samoa unravel midway along our equatorial route. Turquoise lagoons give way to gentle slopes that climb toward jagged peaks coated in tropical rainforest, and the culture is as vibrant as the landscape. Samoan fales (houses) are open to the breeze as well as passersby, and the old slow and easy Polynesian lifestyle remains very much alive. No doubt Samoa will enchant you, just as it did Robert Louis Stevenson, Somerset Maugham and Margaret Mead.

TONGALocated just east of the international dateline, the “Land Where Time Begins” is the first country to see the dawn of each new day. But the Pacific’s only remaining monarchy is also the “Land Where Time Stands Still,” the only one never brought under foreign rule. Accordingly, much of its rich cultural heritage remains intact from kava drinking to carvings and other crafts that are still made using methods passed down for centuries. All this in a postcard-perfect paradise. Welcome to the “Friendly Isles.”

WINES & WONDERS DOWN UNDERSpend two weeks sipping wines, searching for the Tasmanian Devil, and visiting three of the most liveable cities in the world — Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne; (Australia’s cultural capital has placed first four years in a row!)* Auckland’s top ten ranking should come as no surprise to the 1.5 million Kiwis who live in this water wonderland with its two natural harbours. And the rest of New Zealand is pretty wonderful, too — the bucolic vineyards of Gisborne and Nelson, the rich Maori culture of Tauranga, Lord of the Rings landscapes everywhere you go — Hobbiton Woods was filmed in “Windy, Wonderful Wellington”, the nation’s capital. Along with New Zealand’s North Island there’s also a sampling of Australia — Tasmania with its wild, rugged beauty, the epicurean pleasures of the Hunter Valley, and two days in Sydney with its magnificent harbour.

1 1 | Sydney, Australia

Page 15: Silversea - 2017

IN THE MAORI HEARTLANDThe earth hisses, mud boils and geysers shoot into the air. The geothermal wonders of Tauranga are one of New Zealand’s most spectacular sights. This is the home of the Maori people, who have inhabited the area since the 14th century. Visit the Arts and Crafts Institute in Wellington where young apprentices learn traditional methods of woodcarving, weaving and other skills.

THE WINES OF NEW ZEALAND & SOUTHERN AUSTRALIANew Zealand’s wine industry is particularly renowned for its whites; the nation has a reputation for producing the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc. We’ll visit Gisborne, the unofficial ‘Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand’, and the boutique vineyards of Nelson, which have garnered more awards than any other region in the country. The wine trail continues amid the exquisite scenery of the Hunter Valley, an hour’s drive from Newcastle, where you can spend a day indulging in its famous semillions, hand-made cheeses and other heady delights.

VAST, VIBRANT SYDNEYThis dazzling, cosmopolitan city is home to one of the world’s most beautiful natural harbours; the glistening sails of the Opera House and the famed arch of its graceful bridge are arguably two of the world’s most iconic structures. With its stylish shops and boutiques, fabled Bondi Beach, and natural wonders at its doorstep, Sydney offers an endless variety of activities. Meet koalas and wallabies at a wildlife park. Go wandering into the past in the historic Rocks area. Or dress to the nines for an evening of opera during your overnight call.

AUSTRALIA’S SPECTACULAR COASTSThis voyage sails nearly 2,000 miles around the coast of Australia, and you’ll have 13 leisurely days to take it all in — vineyards in the Barossa Valley, pearls in the Outback, and jaw-dropping scenery and wildlife on the Great Ocean Road — a kookaburra laughing in the bush, a koala snuggled high in a eucalyptus tree. From Perth, the Coral Coast stretches to Exmouth, an untouched shoreline of talcum beaches, turquoise waters and encounters with marine life unrivalled anywhere in the world. Spend two days in Australia’s most isolated capital. Perth is another Australian city ranked as one of the most liveable in the world. Geraldton is a water sports playground. But for divers and snorkellers, the big draw is the crystal-clear waters of Ningaloo Reef in Exmouth, where you can swim with Whale Sharks, ‘Gentle Giants of the Sea’, in the largest fringing reef in the world.

1 3 | Barossa Valley, Australia

Page 17: Silversea - 2017

MELBOURNE AND THE GREAT OCEAN ROADModern skyscrapers mingle with Victorian homes and flower gardens, and graceful tree-lined boulevards add a refined air to Australia’s cultural capital. You can go biking to see the city sights. Drive along the Great Ocean Road where every bend reveals another awesome vista of jagged bluffs, extraordinary rock formations, and windswept beaches.

ADELAIDE AND THE BAROSSA VALLEYNestled between rolling hills and the sea, Adelaide is the gateway to the great wine regions of Southern Australia. Spend the day exploring the Barossa Valley, the most famous wine region in country. The area’s historic and cultural influences were derived from German emigrants who settled here during the mid-19th century. Wind your way through scenic vineyards and experience the intimate charm and rich heritage of the local towns and wonderful, family-owned wineries.

THE CORAL COASTThe Coral Coast is awash with unspoilt marine reserves and remarkable land forms millions of years in the making. North of Perth, the Pinnacles with their other-worldly landscape are Western Australia’s most famous natural wonder, while Geraldton is the state’s watersports hotspot. It is also gateway to the spectacular gorges carved by the Murchison River at Kalbarri Park. And you can choose range or reef at Exmouth, located between Ningaloo Reef, one of the last great ocean paradises, and the spectacular limestone ranges and canyons of Cape Range National Park.

SAILING THROUGH the CHINA SEASThe islands of the East Indies push the boundaries of ‘exotic’. Here you can wander from lush rainforests to urban jungles, from heavenly islands to cities bursting with entrepreneurial energy. Borneo, the third largest island in the world, is the last stronghold for some of the planet’s most wild and wonderful creatures. Further east lie the Philippines — sun-drenched Boracay; and Manila, the Philippines’ high-octane capital. Discover Taiwan, famed for centuries as Ilha Formosa (Beautiful Isle). This dynamic democracy is both an economic powerhouse and cultural Mecca; in Taipei, the National Palace Museum houses the world’s largest collection of Chinese art. Then take advantage of an overnight in Shanghai to explore some of the great treasures of China.

Taipei, Taiwan

SILVERSEA EXPERIENCE

BORACAY BEACH PARTY — The Philippines, home to so many of our crew, is also home to Borocay, named the best island destination by Travel + Leisure, 2012. There are over 30 beaches and coves in this tiny islet, including postcard-perfect White Beach, a 2-mile stretch of pure talcum sand. The ocean is full of outrigger sailboats, colourful parasails fill the air, divers comb the coral reefs, and the party goes on past midnight. Here in this tiny paradise, crewmembers will share with you the warm hospitality of their homeland. Join us for beach festivities, local cuisine and colourful entertainment all delivered from the heart.

WORLD CRUISE EVENT

TERRACOTTA WARRIORS — An early morning scheduled flight will whisk you from Shanghai to Xi’an home of the famed Terracotta Warriors. This site, comprised of thousands of sculpted figures all with different facial expressions, was designed to protect the dead Emperor in perpetuity. Following the visit, lunch will be served in Shaanxi Provincial Museum a venue of similar gravity. Overnight in the Shangri-La hotel or similar will follow with dinner and a spectacular local show to top off an incredible day. After an early breakfast, fly back to Shanghai arriving in time for a late lunch on board Silver Whisper.

BEWITCHING, BREATHTAKING BALIRibbons of white unravel along an azure sea, misty volcanoes pierce a jade landscape, and Hindu gods inspire the highest form of human creativity on this heavenly island. Benoa leads us to a cache of stone-carved temples, emerald rice terraces, and arts and crafts villages. While in the less-visited north, Celukan Bawang is our gateway to the former capital of Singaraja with its colonial Dutch influences, and the exquisite water temple complex at Lake Bratan, perhaps the most beautiful spot on the island.

TAIWAN — ONE OF ASIA’S BEST-KEPT SECRETSKaohsiung, Taiwan’s industrial hub, has morphed into a green city of parks, waterside cafés, art galleries and museums. Explore Shoushan Mountain where monkeys roam free. Bike along beautiful Love River, and wander among the temples of Lotus Pond. Taipei is also a gem to explore from the fabled Chinese art collection at the National Museum to the world’s tallest green building, Taipei 101. But be sure to spend a few hours wandering through its charming heritage lanes with their gourmet cafes and boutiques.

HONG KONG, CHINAThe setting is exquisite — the mood electric. Chauffeured limousines careen down Victoria Peak. Skyscrapers overshadow craft shops and bustling bazaars. Narrow, winding streets give way to broad boulevards and mega-malls brim with all the wealth of the Orient. From jade markets and old-world noodle vendors to Hong Kong’s celebrated Feng Shui skyline, what was once the jewel in the British crown has never shined brighter.

Silver Whisper — Shanghai, China

Page 20: Silversea - 2017

SOUTHEAST ASIA: CITIES of CONTRASTTai Chi and glass towers … yesterday and today … the past and the present … the great cities of Asia are a feast of diversity. Here skylines compete in a global race skyward while ancient traditions permeate everyday life. Hong Kong has more skyscrapers than any other city in the world. But just minutes from Victoria Harbour, unexpected panoramas open up — mountains and waterfalls, rainforests and lakes. In Ho Chi Minh City, timeless alleys and pagodas co-mingle with sleek designer malls, and Bangkok, too, combines bustling thoroughfares with golden temples and colourful klongs. The intimate Silver Whisper sails up the river directly into both cities while others must anchor hours away. Even Singapore with its soaring skyline has managed to preserve little pockets of ethnicity. We are delighted to include overnight stays in all four cities to give you time to marvel at the yin and the yang.

1 7 | Bangkok, Thailand

Page 21: Silversea - 2017

Bangkok, Thailand

HO CHI MINH CITYThere are six million people in this sprawling metropolis and they all seem to be out and about at the same time. In the downtown area, bicycles, motorcycles and new SUVs crowd the streets and the sidewalks are filled with people eating, drinking, shopping and selling. For Saigon (as the city centre is still called) is the cash register of the nation. Be sure to drive out to the Mekong Delta to experience rural life in this stunning nation.

BANGKOK — CITY OF ANGELS The silent grandeur of over 400 wats form one of Asia’s great spectacles in Thailand’s capital; the Grand Palace with its Emerald Buddha is regarded as the jewel of Southeast Asia. Take a tuk-tuk to go exploring. Or cruise the Chao Phraya River where golden spires appear around every bend, along with a continuous retinue of sampans, barges and colourful klongs (floating markets).

SINGAPOREScents of jasmine waft through Little India. Noodle factories and trinket shops fill the streets of Chinatown. Skyscrapers overlook colonial outposts from the days of Britannia’s rule. And everywhere, the sounds of Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English swirl together in musical harmony. From Orchard Road for shoppers to the hawker centres for foodies, there is something for everyone in this pristine, futuristic city-state.

1 9 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

ALONG the SPICE ROUTEWe’ll explore vastly different worlds as we sail to the Middle East. Gaze up at the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the world’s tallest twin skyscrapers. Take a walk along the Heritage Trail in Georgetown, resplendent with British colonial history. Cruise through the limestone seascapes of Phang Nga Bay in Phuket, made famous by James Bond’s Man with a Golden Gun. Sri Lanka greets us with its breathtaking beauty, a quilted landscape of villages, green tea plantations and primeval rainforest. And India draws us to Cochin where 600 years of history infuse every stone of its Portuguese churches and the crumbling remains of the British Raj. And there is scenic splendour, too, in the stunning backwaters of Kerala, India’s emerald jewel. A dramatic contrast to the shifting dunes of the Emirates with their cutting-edge architecture and Bedouin culture.

Page 23: Silversea - 2017

PENANG & PHUKETSail through the marine national parks of the Strait of Malacca, the most legendary route of the spice trade. Talcum beaches lay tantalising close to Buddhist temples in these two world-class resorts. Phuket is Thailand’s largest and most popular island, with lush, tropical vistas and seascapes that rise above the turquoise waters of Phang Nga Bay. Temples and grand colonial mansions recall the glory of the spice trade in George Town, the capital of Penang.

COLOMBOSail across the Bay of Bengal to Sri Lanka, the “Emerald Isle,” a quilted landscape of small villages, green tea plantations and primeval rainforest. Incense fills the air at Kandy’s Temple of the Tooth, home of the tooth relic of Gautama Buddha. Visit the Kilaniya temple on the banks of the river, one of the most sacred temples in Sri Lanka; the Gautama Buddha purportedly visited the site in the 5th century BC. Or ride a train through the lush countryside to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, one of the largest in the world.

THE EMIRATES AND QATARSet sail on your own magic carpet into the lands of the Arabian Nights. Souks and spices, Bedouin herders and Arabian horses, gleaming skyscrapers and a caravan of camels sinking to their knees. Explore mountainous Fujairah with its castles, forts and mosques. Go on safari through the highest sand dunes in the world from the Emirates capital of Abu Dhabi. And in Qatar, visit the Islamic museum or float past Doha’s exotic skyline in a dhow. But there is amazing wildlife, too, on the island of Sir Bani Yas, and in the underwater gardens of the Gulf of Oman.

AMAZING ISLAND OF ANIMALS — No one is surprised by the development in the gulf area, the tallest buildings, palm-shaped islands, grand prix racing, but how about animal conversation? Sir Bani Yas is an island just off the coast of Abu Dhabi, here you will find exotic animals roaming free and resort facilities that rival world class. Join us for a safari drive through the extensive park and then lunch with local specialities in a 5-star resort.

Page 24: Silversea - 2017

SOUKS and SULTANATESWonders both old and new are etched across the sands of Arabia. Wealthy sultanates flourish in sky-high oases where past and present are woven seamlessly into one brilliant tapestry. Amazing, must-see Dubai keeps reaching for the skies as Bedouins herd their goats just outside the city. While stunning Oman blends a rich cultural heritage with the vibrant legacy of the Frankincense Trail. Come peer into the Gulf. Dive into the underwater world of Sharm El Sheikh. Marvel at the glorious antiquity that straddles the Red Sea — haunting Petra glowing fiery orange in the dry desert heat, the monumental Temple of Karnak and tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the ancient Pyramids of Giza … the legends await.

2 1 | Muscat, Oman

Page 25: Silversea - 2017

DUBAI — SHOWPLACE OF THE PERSIAN GULFYou can venture across vast dunes, play on sandy beaches, gaze up at the world’s tallest building and shop until whenever in Dubai. Soaring buildings rise overnight, palm-shaded islands spring up from the sea, and powdered slopes draw skiers into the world’s largest mall. From the timeless tranquillity of the desert to the towering Burj Khalifa, the contrasts are as dazzling as Dubai.

OMAN — JEWEL OF ARABIA Enter Oman, the land of Sinbad the Sailor, and experience a genuine taste of old Arabia. In the Muttrah Souk, stalls sell everything from silks and silver to incense burners. Aboard a traditional dhow, wind along the fjord-studded coast with its breathtaking views. Or drive through the Hagar Mountains to the ancient capital of Niswa, and to Oman’s very own Grand Canyon — the breathtaking Wadi Nakhr gorge.

WONDERS OF THE RED SEADay after day this itinerary presents an astonishing assembly of legendary sites — Luxor where Egypt’s mysteries and magnificence is revealed; hidden Petra, carved into the cliffs over 2,000 years ago; the Pyramids of Giza, and the Sphinx. But there are corporeal pleasures, too, from diving the coral reefs of Sharm El Sheikh to wadi-bashing in the Jordanian dunes where visions of Lawrence of Arabia come to life.

OF GODS and HEROESEmbark on an epic odyssey through epic seas. An enchanting Mediterranean voyage. Crusaders and conquerors. Myths and legends. Rose-coloured sunsets. Star-studded nights. From the Acropolis in Athens to the seven hills of Rome, every sight is a reminder that history lives on, every moment an adventure of passion and pleasure. Helen’s beauty launched a thousand ships from the Peloponnese; the Knights of St. John defended Christianity in Malta; while in Sorrento on the Tyrrhenian Sea, sirens lured Odysseus ashore. Day by day the treasures unfold — Siracusa, an open-air museum of Greek and Roman antiquity; historic Pompeii, destroyed by the wrath of Vesuvius; the seductive grandeur and dolce vita of Rome; and Monte Carlo with its posh shops and grand casino. A fairytale voyage. A Midsummer Night’s Dream come true.

Crossroads of anCient Civilisations Colonised by a succession of invaders, Malta and Sicily are living testaments to 3,000 years of Western civilisation. Ramparts and walls festoon honey-coloured Valletta, a baroque jewel built during the Crusades. And Siracusa, too, is a feast for historians; the old town of Ortygia is an atmospheric warren of baronial palazzi and sunny piazzas, while the vast Archaeological Park is one of the most important sites of antiquity in Europe.

sorrento and the amalfi CoastRomantic Sorrento is a picture postcard come to life, gateway to so many treasured sites it’s difficult to choose. You can drive along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast for lunch at the Michelin-starred Il San Pietro Positano; explore the poignant ruins of Pompeii, buried by volcanic ash in 79 AD; or take a jet-foil to beautiful Capri, a pleasure-playground since Roman times.

the frenCh rivieraYachts worth millions cluster in the harbour. Luminaries perform in the Opera House, and the elite continue to flock here. Admire the masterpieces of the Maeght Museum in Saint Paul de Vence. Stroll down the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Or explore the Côte d’ Azur in a vintage chauffeur-driven car — a 1952 Rolls Royce, perhaps, or a Ford Model A. Then wrap it all up with our farewell dinner on board, and perhaps a high-stakes game of baccarat at the Casino of Monte Carlo.

AN eVeNiNg At the teAtru MANoel — in 1731, antónio manoel de Vilhena, Grand master of the Knights of malta, commissioned and personally funded the construction of this cosy but magnificent theatre. The portuguese Grand master built the theatre to keep the young knights of the order of St. John out of mischief but also to provide “honest entertainment,” the first performance was on January 19, 1732. Tonight a special performance with a local flavour will entertain you in this historic and beautifully restored building.
