ADVANCED LAPAROSCOPIC SUTURING WORKSHOP
PRE-CONGRESS WORKSHOP 5
(Limited to 16 participants only)
INTRODUCTIONIn this day and age, advances in technology has revolutionized healthcare and changed the way we perform surgery. Laparoscopic surgery has become the gold standard for many operative procedures over the last 2 decades. Laparoscopic suturing is technically challenging but an important skill to acquire for surgical trainees as well as established surgeons. The use of endotrainer box with the supervision from experts will facilitate acquisition of such skills.
This one day intensive workshop is directed to help participants to progress from basic handling skills to advanced laparoscopic suturing. It is delivered by established laparoscopicsurgeonintheirownfieldwithlecturesandhandsonlaparoscopicsuturing(both dry and wet models) using endo-trainer.
OBJECTIVES1. To understand the principles of laparoscopic suturing.2. To be familiar with the technique of laparoscopic intra-corporeal and extra-corporeal knotting.3. To be familiar with the technique of laparoscopic tissue handling.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING1. Hands on practical demonstration2. Small group teaching3. Video and live demonstrations of suturing/knotting.4. High trainer-delegate ratio
