Difahamkan, pengusaha terbabitmenempatkan DVD lucah berkena-an di sebalik sebuah bilik kecil da-lam premis sarna bagi mengaburipihak berkuasa mengetahui aktivitidijalankan mereka.

MalahSinar Harian turut di-maklumkan pengusaha menggunakankhidmat orang tengah bagi memasar-kan video cetak rompak un~ meng-elakkaukerugiansekitanyapremister-babitdiserbupihakberkuasa. .

Jurucakap Majlis PerbandaranSubang Jaya (MPSJ)'berkata, peng-usaha hanya mempamerkan muka

"Mereka bukan sahaja rnenjual DVDcetak rompak tetapi juga menjalankanpemiagaan tanpa lesen scili daripada pi-hak berkuasa tempatan CPBT).Tindakan

sitaan terhadap premis dilakukan berilian pengusaha rnelanggar Undang-undaKecil 3 Perlesenan, Tred, Pemiagaan dPerindustrian MPSJ 2007.

Yang Dipertua MPSJ, ~Datuk Adnan MdIkhsan ketika mengulas perkara itu berkata, iaberikutan ada peniaga yang mendakwa bayararibil air yang dibuat kepada kakitangan Majlis dipasarpagi Seri Kembangan di situ disertakandengan resit pembayaran Kosujei.

Menurntnya, perkara itu berlaku kerana sis-tern MPSJ mengalami masalah dan kakitanganbertugasferpaksa membuat proses pembayaranseeara manual dengan menggunakan resit.

"Walaupun resit pembayaran tertera nama

I Kosuja, namun wang diterima akan disalurkanterns ke akaun MPSJ untuk tujuan pembayar-an terns kepada Syarikat Bekalan Air SelangorSdn Bhd (Syabas). .

"Peniaga tidak perlu bimbang kerana wangberkenaan tidak dimasukkan ke akaun1coperasiitu dan yang penting, ia digunakan untuk men-jelaskan bil air tertunggak," katanya ketika di-temui Sioar Harian. .

Adnan berkata, Majlis sudah membelanja-kan hampir RM70,000bagi membayar kos airtertunggak digunakanpeniaga pasar itu, namunbeliau keeewa kerana masih ramai yang tidakmembuat pembayaran.

THE beggars are making a big'Comeback in the KlangValley, after a few years of

StarMetro checked out the Batu14 PuChong pasar malam that istouted to have quite a number ofbeggars. I

The popular weekly Saturdaypasar malam was quite a hive ofactivity with traders of variousraCeS operating a variety of stalls.In addition to the many local cus-tomers, there were also foreignerspatronising the stalls.

The StarMetro team saw severalbeggars sitting 'Ajth their beggingbowls, asking for money from the

'many visitors who walked pastthem.

There was a shirtless 6ld Chineseman with a very thin frame. fiewas emptying out soine notesfrom his begging bowl into a bagbefore holding it out again to askfor donations.

, When the StarMetro reporterswent to casually drop a coin intohis begging bowl and tried to starta conversation with him, he onlynodded his head, apparently as agesture of thank you while look-ing up blankly.

The beggar then held out bothhis' hands, hummed a monoto-nous meaningless tune. appar-ently either pretending not tohave heard what was being askedor was actually mentally unsta-ble.

There was another beggar,whom the StarMetro reportersbought a snack, hoping to strikeup a conversation with him.

He munched on the food hun-grily .like he had not eaten fordays. When asked where he wasfrom, he said Cambodia.

The beggar then went on to rat-tle off about Cambodia, Thailandand Malaysia, which perhaps indi-cated that he could have comeinto Malaysia via Thailand fromhis home country.

Asked where he stayed andwho brought him there to beg, theCambodian beggar only smiled,obviously knowing that he' wasnot supposed to tell.

Just metres away sat anotherbeggar looked like a disabled per-son as his legs were smaller thanthose of a normal person.

This beggar was crawling alongthe road quite quickly, using hishands while asking for moneyfrom those who passed him.

He was seen crawling back tothe five-foot pavement counting',the money he had made, thenmoving back to the road where hecontinued begging.

The visitors tothe night marketseemed rather generous and sym-pathetic to the beggars, as manydid not hesitate to drop a fewcoins intorhe bowls.

More people seemed to give to'the disabled beggar, possiblybecause of sympathy for his phys-icalcondition. '

Jason Kua, a regular visitor tothe pasarmalam, said last Saturdaywhen he was there, he saw awoman carrying a baby sitting onthe floor.

"I think these are beggingrackets operated by organisedsyndicates and not genuine cases.Some of these people also don'tlook local and it can be ratherannoying seeing them," he said.

"There was one man who had aleg amputated, and another whowas sitting right in the middle ofthe road asking for money. I had

'donated a few times to the disa-bled one, out of sympathy," saidKua, a manager.

However, he said-after a while,he got fed uP' seeing them thereevery other Saturday.

According to Kua, not all thebeggars are there everytime asthere are often new faces.

"Some are 40-plus, some 50-plus, but then; are also a few agedabout 30-something or so," hesaid.

Although some are young, Kuasaid they did not work as somewere disabled.
